“Nil, only thing missing was another couple of goals mate. ”
I do and don’t agree. I mean, parts of my complaints directly transfer to goals and other parts are in the build up (of course). For me, Liverpool weren’t actually very impressive at all today.
We were incredibly sloppy with our passing, that’s definitely not the way we usually do business. As I said, over-cooking passes to an incredible extent, or getting caught in possession. it got hairy for Wijnaldum at times even… and I’m not talking about a comparison between this Spurs side and say our games against Chelsea or wolves. I’m talking about against an absolutely awful Spurs side (no offense but they sat back and did nothing to try and assert themselves on the game). Liverpool were at times, asleep.
Were they too casual? No because they were hammering their passes wildly. They were committing stupid fouls, for absolutely no reason. They were failing to realise that they had a man on…
Ya, we should have scored more but that’s not down to us being brilliant, or it being like one of those games where you just felt everything was great except that they just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net a few more times. We had some chances but wer also gave away a lot of chances. Our midfield was porous when Spurs did actually manage to attack. our defending was poor also, in my opinion. I’m talking especially about Gomez but I think I remember van Dijk screwing up at least once also but… I can’t quite pin down the moment.
I’m not complaining about the result. I love that we won but we barely won. A good side equalizes there today. We’re going to be playing Utd next who are showing some form here or there… you know they will be on the good side of the coin for us though but my main worry is Wolves. Do you think Wolves would have lost that game today?
No they wouldn’t. If we played the exact same level of football, they will beat us.
the result is great, the performance was not. That’s my overall point . I liked how Klopp wasn’t getting too excited about it also. he’s knows how close that was to us dropping silly points. He’ll keep the lads focused. He’s not interested in anything but the next match and thats a league winning mentality.

11th January 2020 at 11:08 pm #58555Leicester appear on the slide of late. Not much going wrong for Liverpool when they keep winning and one of their main rivals slip up. This is starting to look like the Scottish Premier League (well the old Scottish Division one) used to look. The only difference is there were two rivals there. This is a cakewalk with daylight second. The final table could be savagely embarrassing for the other 19 clubs.

11th January 2020 at 11:21 pm #58564AnonymousThat’s the thing, it potentially might be embarrassing but this isn’t Scotland. Next week Liverpool play Utd, a side that Klopp haven’t beaten at OT yet. Ya, I know it’s at Anfield but it’s worth mentioning that. Then there is Wolves, a team who were pushing hard for an equalizer against us at Anfield. We barely got out of that game with all 3 points. The same could be said for our match against yourselves at the Bridge. Those aren’t the only matches either, so although we’re miles ahead on points, we’ve had a lot of games that have been won on a knife edge.
Perhaps Klopp is right to call our side the ”Mentality Monsters cause there honestly isn’t much more in a lot of these games. You’ve got to consider the other side to the coin that is this season though, results might start coming down the other side of the edge. Last season 5 draws in reasonably quick succession lost us the title, not losses. We won’t lose 6 times but we could could draw 7 from here on. The form we’ve shown in the games so far tells us that there are going to be points dropped, we just haven’t seen it yet, so we think Liverpool will get 110 points.. that will not happen.
I promise you though, if we beat both Utd and Wolves in the next 2 matches, I’ll call the title. That’s a set in stone promise from me.

11th January 2020 at 11:27 pm #58569C67, it’s not a Bad Life π
Leicester in my neck of the woods were really convinced, they’d have Liverpool.
The Guys that are still capable to earn up to the 90 mark and beyond point are Manchester City

11th January 2020 at 11:41 pm #58578Actually if you win the game in hand and City win later you are still 17 clear of City and 19 clear of Leicester. That is an insurance policy of at least 16 points if I am looking at this correctly (or over 5 losses in reality) and that is only if either or both City and Leicester don’t drop any more points. Pop the champagne corks gentlemen.

12th January 2020 at 2:57 am #58676AnonymousSean, right on the money there. We have missed key players too. I was worried about Alisson but I actually thought it was going to be a short spell. If you had told me how long he would be out, from the start then I’d have panicked. I’m not too worried about Matip, as I think Gomez is the better player. Obviously I’m excluding the horrible performance he put in today but for me, he’s the best low profile player in the entire PL. I’d actually suggest that he’s the 2nd best CB in the PL if he could get rid of whatever is impacting his career. (ya, ok he had 1 bad game, only… I know.. but it was so bad… and he was like this in the few chances he got previously this season..)
Fabinho. I tell you one thing, I expected to miss him a lot more. I’m kinda known for being “anti-Hendo”. I’m not but I just see his faults and I think Im more honest about them than most. He was absolutely terrible today but I got a text about how immense he was…maybe he improved in the 2nd half but he was absolutely dreadful in the first half. BTW, if anyone here wants to tell me otherwise, save it, I’ll insult your intelligence.
todays game aside though, I think we’ve done ok without Fabinho. I think Gomez coming in for Matip throws the numbers off a bit but at the same time, credit where it’s due. I still want Fabinho back though because we lose something in midfield without him. 2 players cant be as expressive without him, although wijnaldum tries!..
Gini is my favourite midfielder. Nobody takes the ball off him.

Maybe now you and others are being genuine. Maybe it’s getting real now. It definitely wasn’t before and really it was just a platform for the word “bottle”.
Getting real and being real are 2 different things though. We have a very tough 6 points ahead of us now, City have 6 easy points.
Give us these 2 matches and if we win them both, then maybe we’ll accept that it’s essentially done.
Until then though, you have to understand that it isnt.
Hang on for 2 more games and you’ll see, we might not win either one.

12th January 2020 at 4:34 am #58723I have always been genuine regarding my thoughts of this Liverpool team and I have stated accordingly. The recent post is 100% consistent with what I have been saying for well over a month now. Enjoy the ride and give the Champions League a good go too. Best team this season without doubt especially with City struggling with key areas they failed to provide cover for.

12th January 2020 at 4:45 am #58728AnonymousSo far I agree that Liverpool are the best. We’re not at odds there. If it continues for much longer,it’ll be too much for City to come back from but in my opinion, we’re not quite there yet.

12th January 2020 at 9:42 am #58851Mak, I agree with what you are saying about yday but some games you just take the points and run and really donβt look back and over analysis.
Winning at the bridge, spurs, Everton, utd, city is just all about winning if you know what I mean
We werenβt great yday but thatβs a huge win againest a home team that had no intention of trying to play but only to defend. That might sound harsh but Jose was just waiting for us to make a mistake and we nearly did.
We can play so much better but the great thing is we are now keeping clean sheets.
I remember when we couldnβt buy a 1-0 win for anything. Huge huge result.
What a position to be in. Absolutely delighted but still so much football to play

12th January 2020 at 10:25 am #58866Either side of the year we had Leicester Away and Spurs Away. On Paper you’d say they are tough and we came through them. 6 points and a clean sheet.
We deserve pats on backs and give ourselves a break and enjoy it.
I guess everyone’s different in how they react and you can’t force good feeling, but putting it into perspective, we’ve done exceptionally well.

12th January 2020 at 12:43 pm #58943Liverpool will win the PL this season and by probably by a healthy margin and deservedly so without they have a complete collapse which looks very very unlikely to me.
However just as two seasons ago when City ran away with the PL and turned it into a one horse race and as I said at that time it’s not good for the PL to be over as a competition in January we need a PL that’s competitive and ideally nip and tuck until the end of the season as it was last season hopefully we’ll get back to that next season and hopefully ultimately there will be more than two teams fighting it out going forwards.

12th January 2020 at 12:57 pm #58952Reece James was outstanding for Chelsea again yesterday and formed a very strong right hand side partnership with Hudson Odoi who is getting back to his true potential scoring his first PL goal yesterday whilst Tammy Abraham scored his 15th goal of the season and looks on target to match his 26 goals for Villa in the Championship with many believing that he wouldn’t be able to match that scoring record at Chelsea.
Yesterday saw 5 Academy players start for Chelsea with another one on the bench, Tariq Lamperty has reportedly just agreed a new contract with the Club and Loftus Cheek is almost ready to join in first team training. #thefuturesbrightthefuturesblue. ?

12th January 2020 at 1:15 pm #58965Wishful thinking ahead.
Before we meet Man City Away, we have 9 PL Matches. Imagine if that fixture would be the one where the fate is sealed.
The rest of April and May would be academic. Klopp’s too professional and he’d still play out his strongest team, although, this would allow him to concentrate on other cup competitions if were still in them at that point of time.

12th January 2020 at 1:27 pm #589769, I just can’t see beyond Liverpool and City next season, that is unless Utd and Chelsea spend mega, mega money, which is still not a guarantee.
Liverpool/City will almost certainly add players and I just feel the gap is too big to for the rest to make a strong and realistic challenge in 2020/2021._____________________________
