Half-Time
Couldn’t have asked for more to be fair. Spurs getting men behind the ball and effectively played out as the Away Team to try and punish us on the Counter. We’ve been effectively pressing from the first whistle and got our rewards with an excellent Firmino finish.
Need a Second now to see this out – hopefully, we don’t let up.

11th January 2020 at 6:28 pm #58350Dont think anyone is surprised that Spurs are trying to sit deep and counter but maybe now at one down they need to be a bit more assertive?
Think they are trying to copy what Utd did by restricting the liverpool fullbacks and having two forwards drag the centre backs apart by running the channels.

11th January 2020 at 6:29 pm #58351Liverpool have been very impressive.
Spurs fortunate to be just one goal down.
Over 70% possession for Liverpool will ultimately lead to goals the suprise is that it’s only one.
Jose needs to come up with a plan b difficult to see what and from where there’s not much on the bench.

11th January 2020 at 6:39 pm #583583ps, the snag I’d have with that logic is that if you’re the Home Team, then in essense, you should be the one setting the precedent regardless of the opposition.

11th January 2020 at 7:04 pm #58374Pretty easy for Liverpool. The title is in the bag.
What has happened to Spurs. They look very average to say the least. Is Jose the answer?
Not for me.
No question Liverpool are the best team this season as we were the past two. Enjoy (while you can)_____________________________

11th January 2020 at 7:31 pm #58395A unanimous points win for Liverpool, didn’t like the way we played but that’s Jose for you.
Thought Lo Celso had got a goal back at the end but that’s probably dreaming ._____________________________

11th January 2020 at 7:33 pm #58400AnonymousHmmm, I seem to be the only one who thinks we were kinda poor? Loads of possession and a good few chances but weren’t clinical, we were sloppy in our passing, over-cooking so many… Switched off when in possession at times and we let Spurs through our midfield and defence just way too easily.
MOTM for me was Alisson. If he wasn’t on form, we’d have dropped points there.
Now, that aside, it was a very tough fixture and we’ve come away with 3 points. I’ll celebrate that but with a bit of a sigh of relief TBH.
Spurs were poor and we should have put 5 past them. Gini Wijnaldum was maybe the other player who might have won the MOTM but a few were just not good enough over the 90 minutes. I’ll add Robertson to the 2 I named earlier. Maybe they are tired, well they have a a week to rest and recuperate now.
Salah is an odd one, I can’t tell if he’s going to explode or if he’s going to start losing confidence. he’s on that edge and he could go either way. Personally I’m banking on it being that he’ll soon have a hat trick or a brace to his name. He should have done better with some of those chances today but he had a hand in our goal, so fewer complaints TBH.
Leicester losing today changes nothing , as City are the only team capable of going on a huge winning streak, besides us that is.

No. I mean, definitely not a red card but at the same time, he shouldn’t be doing that kinda thing either cause you never know how something might look in slow motion after.

11th January 2020 at 7:41 pm #58406Mak, I thought we were ok in the first half but not so good in the second. A few players put a shift in but we were lacking the usual quality. Got away with the Lo Celso miss, but before that Firmino had a good chance when either side of where he actually put it might of got a goal.

11th January 2020 at 7:42 pm #58407Mak, think of the bigger picture and the most important rationale:
3 points. That’s all that matters.
Sustainability is hugely commendable and I feel we’ve drawn ourselves a little close to the leaves, than the forest from a Birdseye view.
I know we have history, tainted recent history, but above all, let’s give ourselves a break and credit where it’s due. Release the Handbrake and be less critical just for once 😀

11th January 2020 at 7:51 pm #58412Jose’s so called ‘Masterplan’ was executing his own Logo:
– Defend Deep
– Let The Opposition Play
– Until They are Bored, Tired, and Have Ran Out Of Energy/Been Resisted
– They Make A Mistake
– Execute The Masterplan! To be fair, Spurs had their fair share of moments and we rode our luck so I won’t dismiss that.
Putting it all into Context, at Away Grounds, when you’re a Side at the Top Of The Tree, Everyone has their own Agenda.
And you have to Embrace, in Jurgen Klopp’s Words: “That’s How It Is” 😀

11th January 2020 at 7:52 pm #58413Mak ,Spurs due to injuries were there for the taking and you dominated possession , but for all that only one goal and we blew 2/3 chances to equalise , and yes Robertson did get away with one.

11th January 2020 at 7:52 pm #58415Another win, its all going for you. Even if we won every game we cant catch up.
Definitely deserving the title this year. No question!Back to VAR. Its current mode and application , to me, has ruined the season. Abamayang red card today ? Total bollocks. And so on and so on. Every match.

11th January 2020 at 7:56 pm #58420Adlab you think the Aubamayang red car was wrong? Interested to hear why. It wasn’t intentional but was clearly dangerous play so a red all day for me.

11th January 2020 at 8:02 pm #58425Anonymous“and yes Robertson did get away with one.”
You think Robertson should have been red carded? Then why didn’t VAR pull it back? They’d have looked at it a number of times but not even the commentary expected anything. They made a slight remark on it and shrugged it off.
Nil, the 3 points might be all that matters but you’ve got to play to a level where you secure the points and had Spurs finished that shot earlier, we’d have drawn. We won because they missed, not because we scored a few goals and they couldn’t come into it.
Alisson saved our asses for the chances that were on target too. He really earns his wages.
