Agree with Mav on this one, Utd could of got 4 or 5 in the first half vs City, they cut City apart and had very good chances.
Wish people would stop bringing up stats as a way of making a point. Not a go at you Nine, even professionals in the media do it all the time. What stats don’t tell you is the quality of those chances, how effective was their 72% possession etc? Can be very misleading.
I love efficient counter attacking football, prefer to watch it at it’s best far more than possession style.

15th January 2020 at 1:02 pm #60597The only stats that count are goals scored, points earned and whatever Lucky D comes up with to prove a point!! ๐
(Where is that Neopolean hiding? Hope all is well!)

15th January 2020 at 1:37 pm #60598Mav@12:35pm fair do’s buddie tbh I was impressed with United that day and they have the players to play a very good counter attack game.
As I said City aren’t as strong defensively as they should be and it’s something that Pep will need to address before next season.
I think though the main thrust of the point you were making is that Liverpool don’t have anything to fear from City in the title race even with the game at the Etihad to come and I agree with that.
The next City v United game will be an interesting one hopefully it lives up to the levels of the last two. Cheers 9’s

15th January 2020 at 1:54 pm #605999s-City can easy win the CL this season, hence they being the top favs even though their defence is absolutely non existent,Laporte or not. But,their midfield & attack are 2nd to none, different to Liverpool simply cos Liverpool are not a footballing team, they are an amazing, never tiring fooking machine. They never stop, never seem to get tired, they have an unmovable Leviathan in VVD,their fullbacks run like Duracell bunnies, and their front 3 create chances for fun.Nobody who knows football would be surprised to see City win the CL this season.
The next City vs Uts game[in the league],will be interesting to only determine who finishes 2nd,as for anything else, its meaningless, cos Utd wouldnt be anywhere to challenging for 4th._____________________________

15th January 2020 at 5:14 pm #60616Guys -its a non discussuion. Liverpool will win the league no matter what we do, even when we have Laporte and Sane back. Its too late!
Understand Liverpool lads remain unsure but let me tell you. You will win it this year and deservedly. But its only on loan! Once we sort our defence out in the summer, get Sane fit or sell for a huge fee and change one or two other positions we will be strong again,This year its Liverpool.

15th January 2020 at 5:20 pm #60618Nav…there is no denying that our defence is not the best, saying that, we have conceded 25 goals, I think Palace who we play this week end have a better defence, however, what matters is the goals we score not like the “goals we should have scored” I do not look further than the next game, pointless, I am sure Utd will improve next season with a new Manager and a few new players but so will other clubs and Liverpool have hit a template which could go further but then comes the big questions…who will loose form, who will have injuries who will be transferred….really…it is not worth thinking about…just go to the next game and enjoy it, no matter who. Rashford is your jewel, I think Pogba has his bags packed already and do not think he will be that much of a loss to Utd from the history we have seen to date. I also believe City will loose 1/2 more games or at least draw them and the CL is still a step too far, next season I believe they can win it, for me , it is not that important because in a couple of years it will be replaced and another new era will start

15th January 2020 at 6:49 pm #60623It says something that Liverpool have had to play flawlessly to leapfrog City. They are still not a team you want to give any sniff to. They are too dangerous to do so, as they demonstrated at the weekend and as their โgoals forโ stats show. Indeed their โgoals forโ is the main reason why they are so dangerous. They generally score many in each game, which kills the game quickly. Whereas Liverpool have developed somewhat of a brick wall in terms of their strong mentality to see games out. City are still the bolder side in my opinion, but have lost a bit of their edge because of their defence and also, because itโs difficult to maintain motivation levels after dominating for so long. Staying at the top is always the toughest challenge, not so much getting there. I think Liverpool need to maintain their large lead over them at least for another few months for psychological reasons. Then, and only then, can we can start to talk about the probable winners.

15th January 2020 at 7:00 pm #60624A good point Nine, and letโs not forget Manรฉ played through a lot of last summer, so has played pretty much non stop for well over a year now. The demand is getting ridiculous on players. I thought Klopp gave a great response when asked about resting players in cup games when he said first and foremost he respects the players and will obviously protect them as best he can when trying to cope with the demands. You canโt comeback from such a response, particularly when mental health is being made increasingly aware of to people.

15th January 2020 at 7:03 pm #60625Adlab & Brian-Hope Liverpool win it this year too, surely all neutrals want someone else winning it,instead of City dominating it 4ever?
Brian-As for Utd mate,we are light years away from challenging, and now our finacnes are hitting hard+FFP and you have a very, very long time to go b4 we challenge.Pogba shouldnt have been re-signed in the 1st place imho, and good riddance.Honestly, much rather see Spurs win it next year,myself._____________________________

15th January 2020 at 7:45 pm #60627Adlab…no….GLOBAL CUP that is what TV want and that is what they will get. European football now as an entity does not exist anymore in the grand scheme of things….it is a Mickey Mouse world now
Mav. If Liverpool win it, they deserve it and I honestly think nobody will catch them, they have points to spare but I am sure Mr Klopp will go for the maximum, he has done a good job
As to spreading it about, I would prefer teams like Southampton, Newcastle and a few more are seriously challenging but the reality is I doubt we will see much change. I would not mind seeing Bayern, barca and a few more being embedded in the PL for a couple of seasons to freshen it up but that will not happen either
NB…do not suggest Celtic/Rangers…we do not want that to happen either unless they start in League 3/4Like I have said many times, I just want to watch one game at a time now, cannot be bothered about Fulham following week and Utd it will happen soon enough and no matter what we will have no influence over the result

15th January 2020 at 7:59 pm #60631Mikius totally agree mate. We really need to keep this big lead as long as we can. We canโt give city a sniff of getting back into it because they are well capable of winning every game from now until the end of the season

15th January 2020 at 8:15 pm #60633I would not mind seeing Bayern, barca and a few more being embedded in the PL for a couple of seasons to freshen it up but that will not happen either Hahahaha. No mate,no chance of Newcastle or Saints challenging for the title, but Lesta winning it a few years ago makes me believe that Spurs could do it,hopefully. It will entail the rest having a pretty poor season, but it can be done.
