20th August 2018 at 10:03 pm #25516Good win for Liverpool. Palace away at Selhurst Park is a difficult place to go and come away with three points and that’s what you need if you’re going to challenge for the title

20th August 2018 at 10:10 pm #25517Very professional performance by Liverpool tonight. Last season they would have thrown away points in this type of fixture.
I known Sean’s reservations but I still maintain Liverpool will be our biggest challenger this season.
Very early days but game on._____________________________

20th August 2018 at 10:45 pm #25518Anonymouslast season liverpool won that fixture 2-1. they also convincingly beat west ham at anfield. not saying they haven’t improved but results so far cant be used to say they’re better.

21st August 2018 at 6:50 am #25519Ye very true Paxton mate. Itβs onlybtwo games. Itβs silly the way pundits media etc go on
It was a scrappy win which is pleasing.
There no doubt our defence has improved since vvd came in. Beast of a defender.Still such a long way to go and Iβm certainly not getting carried away. Look what one defeat does. Complete over reaction to a utd loss from all corners.
Start judging teams after 10-12 games

21st August 2018 at 8:24 am #25520He didn’t have a lot to do but there is an aura of confidence that surrounds Alisson that hasn’t been there previously in a Liverpool Keeper.
Sean the reaction to the United loss was not just about the United loss it goes much deeper than that.
Latest SkyBet title odds:
Manchester City
4/7
Liverpool
3/1
Chelsea
12/1
Tottenham
14/1
Manchester Utd
22/1
Arsenal
80/1Be more than happy if it finishes like that.

21st August 2018 at 8:42 am #25521I agree, ten games in and then people will have an idea of how teams are going to fair for the season ahead.

21st August 2018 at 8:58 am #25522City are clear favourites and rightly so even with the loss of KDB, Liverpool are understandably considered their nearest challengers and I would put Spurs up there as a potential challenger too despite the fact they’ve made no signings.
One to eleven they are still a very good side have a great Manager who is fully bedded in at the club and they’ve gone close previously too.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea are miles off the top two this season imo as are seemingly United.
But you just never know for sure look what happened after Chelsea lost 3 nil at the Emirates and what Leicester achieved in the previous season.

21st August 2018 at 9:19 am #25523Anonymoussean – i just don’t get it. i don’t know why people want/need to talk liverpool up so much. sure they might turn out to be the greatest football team ever assembled but as of now, they have achieved nothing. i’m all for positivity but it just goes so overboard. they did brilliantly to get to the champions league final last year, but they were the 4th best team in the prem. this year they’ve done what they’ve had to do in the first two games but its the comments like ‘last year they would’ve dropped points’ that really annoy me. firstly as i said they won both the corresponding fixtures from last year and secondly there will be games this season that they will win that they didn’t last year and there will be games this season they will drop points when they won them last year. if spurs beat man u this weekend it doesn’t mean we are better than last year or its a guaranteed minimum 3 point addition to last years total, it just means we won that game. we may drop points in other games.

21st August 2018 at 9:29 am #25524Looks like Bravo out for the season. Problem is we have no cover.
Will we be able to sign a goalie on loan?_____________________________

21st August 2018 at 9:53 am #25525Unlikely Adlab because you have Daniel Grimshaw in your first team squad. But if you were to lose another Keeper you wouldn’t have a problem getting in an emergency loan signing Keeper.
You have to hope Ederson stays fit.

21st August 2018 at 10:02 am #25526Anonymous999 – out of curiosity why do you think liverpool are ‘understandably considered their nearest challengers’?

21st August 2018 at 11:44 am #25531Paxton, Liverpool are 2nd favourites with the bookies 3-1 to win the PL v 12-1 of the nearest team to them and have strengthened the best of all of the teams chasing City this season.
As I said in my post above I think Spurs are a potential challenger too and frankly should be higher in the betting than Chelsea.

21st August 2018 at 11:49 am #25532Grow up Jim!
I’ve said from the very beginning way before the Season started that I think City will retain the title by a reasonable margin.
I just see Liverpool as their most likely challenger that’s all with Spurs not that far behind but I wouldn’t rule anyone out given where both Chelsea and Leicester came from in the previous two seasons to City winning it!
