In fairness you have to take into account the quickness.

Sterling is very quick. In real time, you have to judge it with a blink of an eye and 99% of the time, it’s going to look a Pen.

Slow-motion replay does show the Swansea defender getting the ball first, but along the range of movement, he feathers or clips one of Sterling’s legs so that makes it look like it’s a Pen because Sterling falls as a result of that.

Brian that was a very string city but just shows important Aguero and sterling are to city.

City went up a big notch when they came in

Would like to see an under dog win the FA Cup but would have no problem with city winning it

You see the fight in the city players. Everyone is fighting for everything this season

Chuckles, Mr Balance, I don’t want VAR, but I do want to eradicate diving, exaggeration etc. The only way to do that is make the punishment fit the crime, so diving 5 match ban, however no matter what you say it is still opinion based when it comes to diving/exaggeration, as for offside VAR is flawed due to parallax error and the fact the line they use is along the ground and doesn’t work for knees and heads etc. In addition to that the resolution is poor when looking at an inch either way.

Cricket uses it best in my opinion, but the decisions are black and white in the main and are backed up with the snickometer and hotspot. The only really contentious decisions are whether catches are grounded, added to this is the fact that stigma surrounding cheating in cricket makes the punishments very severe….Pagan

There is no doubt we were lucky tonight.
Most (not all Chucky!) will agree the need for VAR. You know I have banged on about it all season. Tonight we would have been on the wrong end BUT correct decisions should have been made.
By the way after seeing the replays there pen was correct.

Lets see what Utd do now. Suspect they will win. I think the City result will spur them on.

Tomorrow Liverpool back to the top and we are playing catchup.

Another angle shows Sterling to have dived.

All in all, that’s just a poor outcome in decisions and a disappointment.

Still don’t want VAR, the offsides “mistakes” are the same for both sides so every team is going to win some and lose some, got no problem with that, but instances like the “peno” when it very obviously wasn’t and the player involved made a meal of it (and yes, EVERY team does it!) then at least have VAR to stop… obviously nothing is ever going to be done about and the cheating will continue… wasting my time even typing about hit here..
