I can’t disagree with anything oz has said
It’s one point but it’s out of our hands now and it is absolutely no surprise.
Nothing to add.

4th March 2019 at 8:10 am #34897Come on Pool fans. One result, one point. It can easily change. Oz. Yes you are correct it is all about money. Not just here but in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia etc etc.

4th March 2019 at 8:38 am #34898Adlab, you’re missing the point mate, Oz hasn’t changed his mind on who will win the title on the basis of Liverpool going one point behind City on the back of the weekends results he has never thought Liverpool would win it because he thinks City have a significantly stronger squad than Liverpool and he’s stuck by that opinion all season.
My view is that it’s still too close to call either way but everyone has a different opinion and if they didn’t there would be no point in having football sites like Footydebate because everyone would think and post the same which would be preety boring.
Anyway nice goal from Jorginho yesterday.?

4th March 2019 at 8:43 am #34899Adlab we have been here before. We don’t have the mentality to finish anything
We have lost our last 3 finals
We bottled the league in 2014
We can’t handle the pressure
I’ve said my piece as I’m sure I’ll be lynched for being negative but it’s the truth
Not commenting on this again. I’ll just enjoy last few weeks and continue to support the team as always

4th March 2019 at 8:55 am #34900It may well be that City have a stronger squad but you also have to remember we were 7 pts adrift, had lost 3 games and the injuries had started. However you look at it, those points, needed makeing up. We have played 9 more games than Liverpool, maybe 10 plus a Cup Final extra time so we have done well by keeping to Peps game plan but the injuries are now beginning to mount. Pep will want to safeguard his CL challenge although I prefer to go for EPL but then again….you can only play one game at a time and one opponent.
All to play for, nothing is settled on march 4th_____________________________

4th March 2019 at 9:03 am #34901Sean, hear you mate on all points. I still think it’s too close to call but nobody should be criticised for stating their opinion. Anyway back to the Rugby this weekend.?

4th March 2019 at 9:15 am #34902The League had more money pumped into in, but when you strip away the hype, the ribbons, the marketing and the syrup pouring from Sky, you can see how competitive it is and definitely not one-sided.
Realistically, at the very least 5-6 teams have a chance of winning it out of 20. Sure, you’d like it to be more, but for many others, there’s Europa League Spots to aim for.
I stopped and gave up with La-Liga – can no longer stand Real Madrid. That is where I feel there’s corruption. As far as Scots go, it’s always been between Rangers and Celtic – maybe a bit of Hearts, but that’s as good as it gets.
I may give up actual forums, but won’t throw in the towel in hoping my club can win trophies, far from it. This is one of passions aside my hobbies – an ultra form of happiness in my life seeing my team win matches and progress.
They’ll be difficult times of course; that’s the test of our metal. People have their opinions, but it’s then down to me whether I wish to agree and accept it.

4th March 2019 at 9:19 am #34903Klopp’s point about the wind is a valid one. There was a genuine heavy storm last night and warnings on travel.

4th March 2019 at 10:43 am #34907One can sympathise with Klopp having the problems in midfield and Keita not delivering but for me his attitude is, shall we say, questionable. As I said he came off the pitch yesterday looking calm and was smiling. And he keeps banging on about just “enjoying the ride and seeing where we end up.” Could you imagine a Fergie or Mourinho doing that in a title charging season? Me neither. (If we were a huge outsider then I could perhaps understand it but he’s spent a fortune over the recent year and thus there is a reasonable expectation). Now we may still have a chance this season but it will be more dependent on Citys struggles than our strengths. And that’s disappointing to say the least. If he wins all this will be forgotten and forgiven. If not, how safe is his future? That will mean he’d have lost his last 7 trophy opportunities in a row. But cue Klopp smiling in that instance saying “oh well, we had some fun on the ride didn’t we!” Would that wash with the club and fans??

4th March 2019 at 11:07 am #34908Winning silverware is the ultimate measure of success Mikus. All valid points you make despite the fact that I dearly love Klopp and I practically want him at the helm for as long as he can be.
Too many years without the League Title and more than half a dozen without any Silverware. Irony is, we have genuinely assembled a great group of players who are pukka. These guys are committed and dedicated.
It’s a big ask though of them to deliver every single week at optimum level. Andy Robertson a class example. For all the criticism Man City receive, they are the Model with the size of the squad and quality. One piece of Silverware already won and they are tipped to win all 4.
This is where Liverpool need to be and what the Club and The Manager have to aspire to.

4th March 2019 at 11:35 am #34909There is a difference of just one point.
Let the dust settle and genuinely, all is not bad. I’m still sensing optimism, but we must find inventory in ourselves as far as attack goes and Klopp needs to take risks.
We basically need to win all the batch of games for the rest of this month and that includes the clash with Spurs to really get the momentum going and ensure we stay in touching distance.
There has been in the past Title Races where it’s gone literally right to the wire cue 1994/95 and 2011/12.

4th March 2019 at 1:10 pm #34912Anonymous“Come on Pool fans. One result, one point. It can easily change”
But it’s not one result. We’ve lost a lot more than 1 point on you lads, recently. It’s a trend and we’ve seen a 7 point lead cut away completely. We’re now a point behind from that once lofty position and we thoroughly deserve for it to happen because we are having more off days than on.
You remember last season how the media wouldn’t shut up about our front 3? They are still mentioned of course and it’s 90% on the back of what they did last season. The reality is that they are usually not at the races now. Salah’s stats are pretty good for a man who no longer strikes fear into the opposition and their fans. Mane has been our best of the 3 but he didn’t show up yesterday at all. Firmino .. I’ve said enough about him lately. He’s not the player he was last season. Not even close.
You don’t win titles with your “best” players not playing consistently well. I’m not going to say it’s over yet though, the Watford game gave me hope that the trend was reversing and it might yet, even if the Everton match was more lameness. I will say though that City are far and away favourites. 80% the title goes to them. I’ll hang in there and watch and hope for that 20%.. I mean it’s still very possible in those terms. It’s just that we’re back to reality is all and you get a little fed up of it.
Oz, enjoy the surf, you lucky bastard. Feel free to dedicate a wave to Ireland and it’s miserable weather 😉

4th March 2019 at 1:43 pm #34915Nil, good counter argument, and all good and fair points. The team has undoubtedly improved on last season in terms of points and there is much to be positive about in that sense. And Klopp has certainly adapted by playing in a less gung-ho fashion to conserve energy. The frustrating thing is, had Keita really delivered this season, we’d probably now be quite a few points clear at the top. So from that perspective it’s hard to criticise Klopp and the weaker squad depth he has to work with vs City this season.
But when you’re going for the title the title is won in the fine margins – so everything is put under the microscope. And this is where managers have to earn their stripes and find ways in difficult circumstances to win. Klopp may be being let down by some of his players but he’s still spent a lot of money and he’s got to find ways to get them on top again. That’s his job and the one he’s being paid a fortune for. And moaning about the wind and saying “we’re just enjoying the ride and seeing where we end up” I don’t think will wash particularly well with the fans.

4th March 2019 at 1:47 pm #34918Mikus, I doubt Klopp will lose the fans I think he’s got plenty of credit in the Bank with them yet but questions might begin to be asked by the owners if the trophy drought goes past next season. Personally I don’t think it will.

4th March 2019 at 1:58 pm #34919Nine, Klopp has spent a lot of money – more than any other Liverpool manager. This continual playing of the underdog line is thus starting to wear a bit thin. He needs a trophy and soon.
