Mikus, pretty much agree with that.
There’s more frustration coming from not going above and beyond to grab the game by the scruff of the neck when it’s there for the taking.
In between Watford, we’ve had 2 opponents who were always going to stifle our momentum.
I’m positive we are not losing games. We have also kept yet another clean sheet.
It would be head-scratching though if we went the whole season losing just one game but not finishing out on top.

3rd March 2019 at 7:25 pm #34855Mikus, I’ve always said minute it’s out of hands then I think city will not be stopped
Firmley believe that

3rd March 2019 at 7:27 pm #34856AnonymousKlopp doesn’t trust Keita or Shaqiri and I can understand why. Still, we needed an impact and although you might not trust a player to start them, it’s another story when you’re looking at someone to inject something into the side with 20-30 mins left. I would liked to have seen both Keita and Shaqiri on TBH as we were desperate to win but you would be forgiven for not having that communicated back from some of the team/Klopp etc.
HH, I don’t completely agree with you. I mean, the midfield is an issue alright but the blame for me is mostly with the forwards. Mane, in particular was absent today. I will say that the passing from all 3 was DREADFUL and what is it with Salah and Mane not passing to each-other when one of them is in a great position? Am I imagining this because I’ve seen it a lot this season. They seemingly want to try anything but to pass to eachother sometimes.
Anyway, the key under-lying issue here though (besides looking at what departments let us down) is mentality. We have come through a lot of good tests this season and you would imagine they would help develop the character of the team. We’ve drawn 4 games recently though, showing a lack of certain mental characteristics that people would associate with winning titles.
I won’t call it as over like I may have done before but it sure feels like that. Things change when you hand the mathematics to a previous champion in the final stretch though and they tend to not be good. City will probably not have needed a shot in the arm but they’ll get one from this.
Incredibly disappointed but not surprised.

3rd March 2019 at 7:40 pm #34857Mak, I’m with your point on our attack being at fault.
I love Salah, but the guy can frustrate me sometimes. He is going for the same type of finish like trying to place it. Many of them have been tameable. League Champions down the years have top top strikers regularly putting the ball away in the back of the net.
Our front 3 are samey. Unfortunately, I have to bring my point in Coutinho and how vital he was in 2013/14. Sterling too. I watched Sterling yesterday afternoon and he was a menace. He enjoyed being a devil too 😀 But that’s what we need.
The problem of late is that away from home, our goals have dried up. Weirdly, we are so brilliant defensively lol 😛

3rd March 2019 at 7:42 pm #34858Mak, I’ve said it before and been shot down but I don’t think we will ever win anything under Klopp
Absolutely love the man. Love what he’s done for the club and made me enjoy watching football again but he’s 3 years left with us.
We are nearly always there but fall under the final hurdle. Maybe we should be happy just competing again? Being a top team in Europe and getting cl football all the time?
We are competing with some massive massive clubs. We are doing everything right but winning trophies. My worry is Klopp will have done so much for us but leave empty handed
Maybe I’m going overboard as with another 3 players we would go up another level??
I’ve just a feeling it will all in tears like it usually does for us
I never once thought about winning the league in 2014 until we beat Sunderland 2-1 at homes. That was with about 6/7 games left and I haven’t once thought about it this season.
If we are a point ahead with 6 games left then I’ll start to think we have a chance but I really think that’s not going to happen

3rd March 2019 at 7:48 pm #34860Adlab, if we had half a dozen trophies down our belts already and no 6/7 year wait, plus a couple of league titles, I’d be happy watching your team play every game mate.
I’ve been fortunate to watch them live last season and you guys have so many different outlet of players to turn too – Zinchenko, Danielo, Mahrez. Foden of late hasn’t appeared buy a brilliant prospect. Then there’s Delph, LaPorte, Gundogen, etc etc. These are collectively the best group of players I’ve genuinely enjoyed watching as a fan of the game, Pep has grown on me too 🙂
Albeit not winning it, it’s been a great journey – just fallen a tad short (if that was to be), but the point proven in depth and genuine quality as far as different outlet of players go.
Cheers

3rd March 2019 at 7:52 pm #34863AnonymousI really dislike the Coutinho talk. Not what you’re saying but it’s just repeated every time we struggle to break a team down. We struggled to break teams down when Coutinho was here. I’d even say that we probably struggled more than we do now but you don’t forget brilliant goals.
He’s gone and his sale helped pay for the players we have now. We’re a better team without him and that is a demonstrable fact. We miss his attacking flair but we do not miss the entire defensive side to his game (non-existent).
Coutinho would have been great in front of Wijnaldum and Fabinho today alright. I think we are more kitted out to balance the ship with a midfield containing Coutinho but we are talking about players bought before and after Coutinho’s sale (the club would have known for a LONG time that he was on his way out). Players who’s come in and given us something else would have to be taken out, as this isn’t Football Manager.
That tired discussion aside though, we do need to add an attacker this summer. The front 3 are probably not working as hard as they could in training and I hate to say that it just shows. The lack of competition has made them lazy and they are not hitting the same heights as last season.
That is what will cost us the title, not a vacant Coutinho.

3rd March 2019 at 7:54 pm #34864We need a ‘maddog’ type of a striker like Costa. Somebody ruthless. Goodison never mind 12th, had a 13th man and Huge Credit to their Supporters.
Their guys are alright. I like Marco Silva. It’s a Mersey Derby at the end of the day, and as I’ve mentioned earlier on today, every team regardless of their Prem position have something to play and fight for.

3rd March 2019 at 7:55 pm #34866I can’t help noticing nobody wants Spuds to win, I just don’t get it, 59 years and counting yet the neutrals want City, who won it last year, to win it, I’m not feeling the love… 🙂

3rd March 2019 at 7:59 pm #34867So we’ve gone from “we are 9 ahead & still not playing great” to “we are still top & any of us would’ve taken that at the start of the season” to “we are still in it” & “there’s more twists & turns to go”. I don’t need to tell you what’s next. As predicted the moneybags will win it with some to spare. 1 thing that has surprised me is how long we’ve hung in there when we haven’t really got anywhere near the heights attack wise of last season. Being honest I’d rather we played like last season, at least it was very good to watch. If your not going to win you might as well go down swinging.
Klopp mentioning the wind as a factor like it only effected us is ridiculous, from what I’ve read he could maybe take a bit of blame for not going for a win.
Sean you are spot on mate, moneybags won’t lose it now, Liverpool will definitely drop more points, esp away from home where we seem to struggle to get going._____________________________

3rd March 2019 at 8:01 pm #34868AnonymousYa, I think it’s time to bring in a natural goal-scorer. I’m a huge fan of Firmino and have sung his praises pretty much since he joined the club. I felt vindicated last season when he was banging them in but he’s not scoring enough this time around and although he works hard and is a very skilled alround player, he’s not as good as he was last term and with the complete lack of capable backup, it’s costing us points.
So ya, sign a top goal-scorer in the summer, preferably one who can slot into the other positions if needed and we have 4 top players for 3 places. We’ll have to address the back-up situation also but that shouldn’t be a problem.

3rd March 2019 at 8:04 pm #34869Oz, not to be rude mate, but your point just sounds like a told you so. It’s a bit of a co-incidence you appear to ‘make your point’ when the chips are slightly down.
Do you have something positive to add mate or just something constructive?

3rd March 2019 at 8:05 pm #34870Oz. If it is windy then common sense says keep the ball on the ground and pass it dont you think?
Chucky. The best team generally wins the league. If Spurs win it I would say well done. When Utd and Arsenal dominated they were the best teams. Nothing against Spurs whatsoever apart from Delli diving!
The only exception, was perhaps, Leicester who caught the others in a perfect storm._____________________________

3rd March 2019 at 8:07 pm #34871Liverpool’s main problem is lack of creativity in midfield as Souness said today by comparison City have the two Silva’s and De Bruyne to unpick difficult situations like today but that problem can’t be solved until the Summer when Klopp will almost certainly sign a Fekir type player.
There is a worrying trend though developing for Liverpool of 3 nil nil’s in the last 4 games and 5 draws in the last 7 games.
The positive though is their defence and Liverpool who have only conceded 2 goals in the last 5 games.
Liverpool have to stay close to City and hope that fixture congestion and injuries ultimately catch up with City. I still think the best thing that could happen to Liverpool in this title race is for Liverpool to get knocked out of the Champions League.

3rd March 2019 at 8:08 pm #34872newbalance…what you need is a David Silva and a Fernandinho but you cannot have ours!!! Too much doom and gloom, a long way to go yet, you were 7 pts clear not long ago now 1 pt behind…you have something to aim at now. We have KDB,Fernandinho, Laporte and maybe Stones out so we will be disjointed for next few games having them all out so you have to keep plugging away.Your captain, henderson states the pressure is on City, no , it is on him to raise his game as a player and Captain. City will continue to do there own thing as Pep has been drilling into them. The opposition, next game is Watford not Liverpool concentrate on that.

3rd March 2019 at 8:09 pm #34873Makaveli. Its not a goal scorer you need its a creative midfielder. Compare with us.
Silva, Bernardo, Gundogan, Foden, Fernandinho, KDB.Which Liverpool midfielder would get into the City side? I feel thats your problem BUT you can still win it. 9 games left 27 points.

3rd March 2019 at 8:16 pm #34875Mak, I totally get you mate on your response to Coutinho.
He appeared in my mind against our current stock of attacking players on the pitch, the little gem that was our ‘get out of jail card’.
Haha wishful thinking 🙂
Yeah, that was the point on a ‘maddog’. Always think back in the heyday of Gabriel Batistuta. He would take shots from anywhere and he was powerful, but most importantly persistent and determined. These traits and ingredients you need.
Rodgers’ 2013/14 were more lethal than Rafa’s 2008/09. The problem with Rodgers’ team is that he had no Van Dijk, Robertson, and Allison.
I would never discount Mane, Firmino and Salah as they are mind blowing on their day, but we don’t have secondary individuals outside those 3 that have in their locker, goals they can pull out; like a Phillipe or a Gerrard.
