19th August 2023 at 8:52 pm #208559HT I think we deserve to be ahead but they look dangerous on the break particularly on their right wing

19th August 2023 at 9:57 pm #208563I’m bored shitless watching city now. Nothing against them, if it was chelsea I’d be buzzing, but as a neutral its just a bore fest.
Pep has got more defensive minded the longer he has been in England too. When city have the lead now you hardly ever see them break without 5 or 6 players staying back. They need to have the ball for ages before they commit more numbers.
All credit to pep he does what is best π

19th August 2023 at 10:40 pm #208564Masterclass from Foden tonight. Have we finally found our new David Silva? Finding space between the lines and threading passes through the defence. Has a bit more pace than 21 also and has the ability to go past players. Kovacic and Rodri also had good games.
As for Newcastle, knocking five past Villa is one thing, beating the current champions and treble winners, even without Stones, KdB and Bernardo, is quite another. They were also very niggly and dished out one or two ‘naughty’ tackles.
Very early days and Pep has us playing well within ourselves at present, mainly due to being under prepared and the injuries we have. I’m sure if/when everyone is fit, LD, you’ll see us back to our very best, a la the matches against Liverpool, Arsenal, BM, RM, etc. from last season._____________________________

20th August 2023 at 7:38 am #208569Still love watching City play but I do admit it does not have that feeling of excitement because you sense or believe that they will still come out winners at the end of the game although I do think their squad is a bit thin if you check their bench. On top of that it’s highly unlikely or even impossible they will win everything again, I think certain other teams will be a threat to them in all the competitions.

20th August 2023 at 8:38 am #208570Calmed down now…. as for the glorious Spuds, that goalie looked decent enough, made some pretty decent saves, saved by the woodwork once… Porro looks great going forwards, as does Destiny, I think a lot of teams are going to have a lot of joy getting in behind them, our CB’s looked okay (or was it a lack of decent attacking moves in front of them?), Bissuoma had his best game I’ve seen him play, Wee Jimmy was popping up all over the place, and Sarr got a lot better in the 2nd half (can’t wait to see what a midfield of Jimmy/Biss-Boss/Benny can do, that could be really interesting!)… Son and Ginger did what they normally do, both looked a bit lost without Harry mind you, and Richy was just useless… I think that lad from Belguim would fit in nicely (Orban, not Lukakauaku!)… certainly couldn’t be any worse…
Going to be an entertaining season for us Spud-lovers for sure… π

20th August 2023 at 8:43 am #208572agree lucky, I donβt enjoy watching city but they look so solid. So defensively sound and they will walk tgis league. They were missing a few players yet never looked in trouble at times.

20th August 2023 at 9:02 am #208573Watching Match of the Day re the handball etc and on a few occasions the commentator said “And last season that would have been given….”
Have the rules changed? Still based on last season that would be definate penalty.
The instructions to referees must have changed or something.?

20th August 2023 at 9:08 am #208574Just to reiterate to colleagues here who were slightly bored watching us last night.
Don’t forget we had a midweek game in Athens, four hours plane ride. No sleep Wednesday, back Thursday, no training Friday plus key injuries.
We are playing against a team on the up.
No wonder we were a bit tired in the second half!_____________________________

20th August 2023 at 9:50 am #208575Or perhaps it’s because you are no a souless club who have become a Middle East plaything and due to your excessive wealth and creative accounting practices have turned English football into a boring procession?
I started watching, and soon found myslef doing other things and only paid attention when the commentator got excited… and then went back to doing what I was doing…

20th August 2023 at 10:00 am #208576Chuck, there’s no such thing as soulless, you could interpret that as anything for every club. And goodness me give that butchers hook a break.

20th August 2023 at 10:16 am #208577Adlab, you don’t need justify anything bud. City are the hardest team to beat, and easiest team to lose to. Even Newcastle, who we rave about, turned up with the mentality of “this is one we are going to lose/excused to lose”. When you get the combination of teams who concede defeat before whistle blows and this city team that does no more than is required each game, it is inevitably boring as hell for the neutral.
There is nothing you can say that will make it less boring, but nothing I could say that could detract from how good your team is our how good a job pep is doing.

20th August 2023 at 10:44 am #208578I’d get used to it, Bluemoon, you’re slavemaster owners aren’t going anywhere, they’ve invested too much in their “please like me” campaign… and I’m not buying into it to give “you a break”… as long as your owners are buying every trophy they can for a sportswashing campaign, I’ll be here to remind of that so, like I said, get used to it.
