2 things I would wish for; 1 a Younger Klopp (2016 model) and Dejan Lovren. For all his mistakes, he showed real fight and passion when he wanted to. Those memories versus Dortmund π

17th September 2023 at 2:28 pm #209523I agree with earlier comments. I think this could be the most competitive league for years.
At the moment I think we are ever so slight favourites but that’s all. I think being able to cover injuries will be vital
Currently we are 2/5 Liverpool 15/2.
United 100/1
Ed get your bet on. Only 33 games to goπJust watching Bournemouth v Chelsea. At the moment there doesn’t seem much system to Chelsea. Posting on Chelsea reminds me of our late friend 999. Badly missed.

17th September 2023 at 3:05 pm #209524Yeah, always think about the puppy when the Jammy Todgers are on the box… I wonder what he would be making of this season so far.
Anyway, missed the first half, looking at the stats it seems like the Todgers are all mouth and no trousers, again, plenty of possession and not doing much with it.
It’s a real weird one, billion pounds in 3 transfer windows like kids in a candy store… and already looks like getting Euro footy at any level is going to be an uphill struggle… looks like another mid-table finish again… of coure, a long way to go but they need to start showing something sooner than later.

17th September 2023 at 3:22 pm #209526Chelsea had a penalty saved. Just read it off the live report on the BBC. Not watching or following the match.

17th September 2023 at 3:59 pm #209527Poncho’d got his work cut out for him… there seems to be a lot of players at teh Jammy Todgers who spent all their pocket money on a Youtube highlight reel and are now “retired” from competitive football…

17th September 2023 at 4:00 pm #209528I canβt believe chelsea have spent a billion and still need more players. Who can come there thatβs injured who would make a big difference? James, Caciedo, nkunku definitely
Canβt think of anymore to be honest. So bizarre. It really is.

17th September 2023 at 4:04 pm #209529I can’t believe they’ve spunked a billion and are seemingly allowed to spend more anyway…

17th September 2023 at 4:08 pm #209530Just on Ten Hag and Man Utd. I can’t believe Shearer went unchallenged last night on MOTD when he said it was the ownership uncertainty that was starting to affect Man Utd on the pitch. Really? Even Gary Neville conceded that Man Utd were well beaten by a well drilled team who knew what they were doing. Bear in mind De Zerbi has been in charge for less time at Brighton than Ten Hag has been at Utd. Also Ten Hag has more resources and is surely bringing in players he wants? Compare also the positivity Postecoglou has injected into Spurs. The responsibility of a manager is to work with what he has and make it better. Is Ten Hag doing that at Utd? Looks yet another wrong appointment for me.

17th September 2023 at 4:14 pm #209531I think things will steady themselves out at Chelsea under Poch, but not much more than that. Chelsea lack forward quality and now have a manager for me who isn’t bold enough up top. So not surprising for me they’re struggling in that department.

17th September 2023 at 4:18 pm #209532A mate of mine (Arsenal fan) on our whatsapp group made the exact point.
Didn’t Bournemouth too had the better chances? Chilwell on the bench Caciedo not even named. Weird. Maybe we dodged a 100 million bullet.

17th September 2023 at 4:36 pm #209534Mikus:
I agree that ownership shouldn’t be on the players’ mind, but perhaps it is. If new owners arrive, they’ll be selling and buying. IMO opinion n it should be a motivation factor. Play well, prove you’re worth a place in the squad.
I think United are suffering from years of changing managers with different styles and the squad reflects that.
And in general we’ve been buying unsmart. Big names seem to have been more important than anything else. That Zlatan Ibrahimovic is perhaps the best transfer we did post SAF is mindnumbing._____________________________

17th September 2023 at 4:44 pm #209535Ten hag was one of the most up and coming managers mikuis so if utd did t go for him then someone else would. Never really got the hype behind him but heβs only there 16 months and they are going through a huge transition
Not sure who else they could get in. He needs time or itβs just back to square one

17th September 2023 at 4:49 pm #209538Srd, oh there’s no doubt a lot over truth in that regarding recruitment. But I still think that you can gauge relatively quickly how good a manager is going to be irrespective of the squad they inherit. Klopp turned things around pretty quickly after inheriting a relatively poor squad. You could even see signs Rodgers was changing things even if he had his limitations and again he didnt exactly inherit a team of world beaters at Liverpool. You look at Postecoglou, De Zerbi, etc. It ultimately starts with the manager, and I don’t think Man Utd have made a good appointment since Sir Alex left. Until they get that right, nothing will change.

17th September 2023 at 4:52 pm #209541Sean, agree mate. Ten Hag was in high stock when he was at Ajax. And rightly so IMO.
I don’t want him sacked. Who else should United get in? Even Klopp and Guardiola would need time with that bunch of overpaid underachievers.
ETH needs time. You might argue that the Brighton manager has been in charge of his team shorter than Ten Hag has been of his, but Ten Hag’s job is just about the biggest reconstructionjob in football._____________________________

17th September 2023 at 5:00 pm #209542But he’s only had experience in the Dutch league Sean, albeit with a period with the Bayern second team. And he’s gone from that to one of the biggest clubs in England. In the modern game you need to travel around a bit and build yourself up gradually unless you are *really* something.
