18th October 2019 at 2:14 pm #50285Stevo, G.Nev would agree with you, he said himself utd have gone down the route of appointing top managers and it hasnt worked, so it logically follows according to him that shit managers need to be given a chance instead, he fits the bill perfectly π

18th October 2019 at 2:18 pm #50286Personally Iβd take Woodward taking charge as manager, with Usain Bolt as assistant to learn on the job and eventually take over.

18th October 2019 at 2:20 pm #50287Again Lucky, I’m not saying he has to be better than Ole. I mean, Ole isn’t better than Jose is he (yet he had the desired effect – from a temp POV)? You say “making the same mistake again” but in my opinion, giving Ole the job on a temp basis wasn’t the mistake. That was a stroke of genius. Giving him the job full time was the mistake.
I’m all for giving managers time where:
A. They’ve shown in the past they have proven pedigree
B. The signs of progress can be seen somewhere (ala Klopp’s first couple of seasons which weren’t amazing but you could see they were heading in the right direction). Just giving a manager time because it seems the right thing to do is madness._____________________________

18th October 2019 at 2:22 pm #50288But neither of those are the case with Ole

18th October 2019 at 2:25 pm #50289On second thoughts, looking at that list, I’d be tempted to go for Ten Hag with Edwin VDS as the chief of football operations or something like that. Put a proper structure in place. Ajax and Utd have many commmon values with the academy being so important to the first team and playing good football.

18th October 2019 at 2:40 pm #50290Ajax has a pretty strict wage structure and I donβt see many egos in that Ajax dressing room. Youβd have to set up similar at Utd for Ten Hag to work well for me. I think Allegri looks the favourite candidate but as I said on the other thread, being more conservative clashes with the Man Utd philosophy. Poch in that sense looks a more suitable candidate but like Ed, I have my reservations about him. Just looking down the list, would Ancelotti not be a bad shout? Heβs got another big job in him, is highly experienced throughout Europe and would suit Man Utd. At 60, heβs still got some good years ahead of him.

18th October 2019 at 2:44 pm #50291I wouldn’t mind Ancelotti. He’s a bit too nice, but maybe that’s what Utd need now rather than an authoritarian like Jose.
Fair points about Ten Hag. Definitely a different structure there but he’d be worth a try with some money behind him IMO.

18th October 2019 at 2:52 pm #50293People seem to be giving all of their thoughts about the game between United vs Liverpool and rightly so as this game would have broken the tv viewers record had this been played 7 years earlier when Ferguson was there and United had the confidence and arrogance. but still you can 100% rule out a fallen giant.
But i’m surprised that no one is speaking about about the Palace vs City game? let us not forget it was this fixture that City has lost their winning steak two years ago. and with Palace flying high, and the morale at City camp all time low. you can rule out anything. but for the sake of the competitiveness i want a City win as well as a Liverpool to make sure United drop back.

18th October 2019 at 4:39 pm #50299Any shocks this week then you reckon lads? I think Burnley could surprise and turn Leicester over away. Everton vs West Ham is really difficult to call, want to go West Ham but just feel Everton have to get a result soon. Dont see utd beating Pool but you never know, could scrape a draw.

18th October 2019 at 4:54 pm #50301Actually CMan City won the corresponding fixture 3-1 last April on their way to the title. Anything is possible in football but despite City’s defensive woes I would be very surprised to see them lose two games on the trot.

18th October 2019 at 5:06 pm #50303Chelsea man , palace are very good sway from home mate as they are very good on the counter attack. They are different at home and can only see a comfortable city win
As nine says, I canβt see them losing two games in a row.

But they lost the away fixture 3-1 isn’t it? i’m not definitely saying City will lose this weekend. but there is a game to watch there. Palace has already beaten United away, and is 6th in the table. but if the right City turns up for that game. i can see a comfortable win for them. but will they?

18th October 2019 at 6:09 pm #50307Anyone here watched the Mesut Ozil’s interview with David Ornstein? i have to say i have felt sorry for him after listening his side of the history. the way the press and fans treat him is disgraceful and not always fair. he is one of the most creative players in the league. but they always signal him for criticism when some other players do worse job in their clubs and never get mentioned even. he said” if we don’t do well in a big match, it’s always my fault”. i think Ozil lacks the right coach who can put an arm around him and protect him. he will thrive if given the freedom to do what he does best. even Germany are not the same team they were without his creativity.

18th October 2019 at 6:30 pm #50308I dont know Chelsea man, personally I had forgotten he even existed until he came out with all this, so not sure the press are treating him disgracefully at all, Arsenal are paying him circa 350k/week so they are not treating him disgracefully either.
I think he just doesnt fit with the way Emery wants to play. He is a very talented player but if he is not willing to take a pay cut to play regularly elsewhere and would rather stay at Arsenal and pocket the money for doing nothing then I dont think he has any right to complain and should just shut the hell up.
