7-0 8-1 and now 7-1. The score between Liverpool and Manchester United then called newton heath on October 12 1895. It all happened the day after Emperor Menelik II of Abyssinia rejects a treaty with Italy…
Worthless stat of the day

16th October 2019 at 8:55 pm #50177I think the Notable point or points to take on board is:
1) We a Liverpool don’t wanna brag or boast – honestly
2) Injuries regardless. United at Old Trafford can turn up and be a Stinging Nettle – they’ve nothing to lose.
We have to forget about any 8 games already won and press the Reset Button.
Manchester United will play for Pride and they are the team holding 20 League Championships better than anybody else, plus being the most Successful Club in England.
Tough Place To Go.

16th October 2019 at 8:57 pm #50178442, can’t see that happening as it could be a 0-0 as coming back from International games demands Focus and to reignite any preciously gained momentum.
We should be so lucky and a Defeated avoided would be a decent Result in my book.
Liverpool realistically can’t win every single game. We can only try.
Cheers

16th October 2019 at 11:33 pm #50182Honestly, on form Liverpool should win it 3 or 4 nil. It’s that rivalry and I am sure Olle will be reminding them of that right up until kick off. Not sure this bunch of United players have the mettle so I will stick with 3 or 4 nil. Olle’s last hurrah possibly.

17th October 2019 at 9:18 am #50189Much like when we play our blue neighbours form doesnβt mean much in these clashes. I remember last season manu were absolute dog muck & we couldnβt beat them so Iβm not overly confident of 3 points here. Would not be surprised to see a 0-0 score or a very low scoring game. Donβt think we will lose but expect a much tougher game than some are talking. 0-0 is my prediction.

17th October 2019 at 9:36 am #50190Ye 0-0 all written all over it
Utds team last year at ot was terrible. They had players going off injured and unfit players coming on and they deserved to win
Utd will sit back and thatβs not a dig at them. Iβve seen this so many times were people think we will walk a game and we donβt
Utd are under huge pressure. The manager is aswell and itβs all about not losing for them so it be 11 men behind the ball and we wonβt break them down
We need to score early to make it a good game

17th October 2019 at 9:54 am #50194What’s the latest on Keita?
I’d like to see Lallana get a game this Sunday. I hope we start with Fabz, Milner and Gini.
It could be one of those games with it’s 0-0 written all over it but we nick a goal and close off the game. If our guys bring their shooting boots then who knows.

17th October 2019 at 11:48 am #50203With Pogba and DDG, our chances were slim to none. Now, it’s looking like a real task to get anything out of the game. It is, however, fully possible that will play into our hands. That everything looks nailed on for a Liverpool win and that will bring out the underdog, fighting spirit Utd need. As much as there is loads of pressure in it being Liverpool at home, (from another angle) there is also no pressure as nobody expects Utd to win.
I stand by my comments ahead of my Newcastle prediction. Defeat to Newcastle followed by defeat to Liverpool and Liverpool will have finished the careers of our 2 last managers.

17th October 2019 at 12:28 pm #50207There’s a rumour going around that Ole won’t get sacked no matter what the score is as the Utd board don’t want it to be Liverpool that’s got their manager sacked again!
So DDG, Pogba and Lingard are out. AWB and Martial are fit for only 30 minutes if reports are to be believed. Based on that the Utd starting line up could be:
Romero
Dalot – Linderlof – Maguire – Young
McTom – Matic
Fred/Pereira
James – Rashford – MataMaybe I’ve missed someone obvious but to me that looks a very poor team, midfield in particular. Versus a full strength and flying Liverpool I can understand why neutrals are saying we will hammer them, but in football there’s always a chance especially in these highly charged derbys. It would need Utd to have a great game and Liverpool to have one of those flat off days, and that is not that unbelievable to imagine happening.

17th October 2019 at 12:36 pm #50208Steve it was Hakan Unsal who belted it into Rivaldo’s knees and he went down clutching his face. Unsal was a Blackburn player at the time, so thats the only reason I know his name!

17th October 2019 at 12:37 pm #50209What sticks in my stomach is this fixture being played straight after the Internationals. Can we be fully-focused?
Liverpool had below average teams in the early 90s in Souness’ era, yet we managed a 3-3 at Anfield. It could be one of those days.
These days, I don’t build myself up as the quality of football can be flat and boring.
I’ll try not to think too much about it and see what Saturday brings us π

17th October 2019 at 1:07 pm #50214Itβs certainly the case that Liverpool have sometimes struggled to deliver in the big away games theyβve had, certainly when trying to create chances which is why I continue to have concerns about our midfield. But with regards to Utd, the problem for them is that even if Solksjaer has a game plan to stifle us like last season, does he still command enough authority to properly execute it? Iβm sure the players will somewhat turn up, but somewhat isnβt good enough.
I tend to agree with Threeps, unless Liverpool have a big off day, it should be a win for them. Just looking at the recent international results. Granted there was quite a bit travelling, most of the last games were played on Monday so there should be a good few days for the players to still prepare. Also apparently Salah never featured for Egypt and was allowed to rest over the last week or so. So no excuses for him. Iβd definitely be wary of playing Allison though, even if deemed fit, for such a game.

17th October 2019 at 1:38 pm #50216If United do get stuffed by Liverpool on Sunday then I think the writings on the wall for Ole although he might hang on to the end of the season.
United are terribly hit by injuries and in poor form but I expect the atmosphere at OT and pride to kick in which may make it a closer game than sum are predicting.

17th October 2019 at 2:02 pm #50220If Liverpool dont stuff us @ least 2-0 or 3-0 now that we have been hit by injuries, are in a terrible form, then they really wont deserve the title.
