The Arsenal job was always going to be a difficult one after Wenger because I just don’t think they have any real cohesive foundation with regards to long serving players who love the club and will fight for it. I mean Wilshere may have had his injuries and doubters but a player like that who was Arsenal through and through should never have been let go so easily. I think even Wenger admitted it was wrong to let him go. So I think any new manager was always going to struggle to find some sergeants in the dressing room to carry out his orders and lift his side on the pitch. And then add to that, it seems that Emery isn’t terribly charismatic to lift the players that are in the dressing room and fire them up and get them to believe in something. He just appears a safe, tactical and pragmatic manager, and given the above, Arsenal need so much more than that.

22nd October 2019 at 12:20 pm #50747Chelsea man/ lucky: lads I’ve said for the last couple of seasons the difference between city & LFC is their quality in depth. Over a full season they just wear everyone down with depth (as you’d expect with what they’ve spent). It’s great to get off to a flying start but as the season rolls on depth plays a massive part.
I don’t think Klopp trusts our bench to fill in for the front 3 as he rarely rotates them. I said at the start of the season those 3 got f all break in the off season & the time will come where they either get injured or lose form & what do we do then. We NEVER turn up at manu & we won’t beat city home or away, they are just games we don’t turn up to these days.
I said it at the start of the season & I’ll say it again city will win the EPL again, it’s as predictable as the Patriots winning the NFL. Cups suit us better with the 2 leg contests awesome with Anfield being such a great advantage. I’m not saying we will win a cup but they are once again our best chance of winning a trophy.
Take care all._____________________________

22nd October 2019 at 12:22 pm #50748Mikus good posts mate, like Threeps said we have no creativity in the middle, our midfielders are grinders & workers, not playmakers but credit to manu they nullified is brilliantly.

22nd October 2019 at 12:28 pm #50749Oz, I do agree with your post, but disagree that city are destined to win. Despite the truth in your post I still think pool can do it mate.

22nd October 2019 at 2:11 pm #50753Stevo@9:44am: Stevo, Mak makes a good point about Liverpool buying Alluso, Van Dijk , Fabinho and Keita transformed Liverpool from top 4 challengers to European Champions and PL title co tenders that was because Klopp identified the areas that Liverpool really needed to strengthen.
Arsenal’s achilees heel for far too long has been their defence until that problem is tackled and solved they won’t progress too far imo. Signing Luiz who is great with the ball at his feet but historically defensively vunerable and signing Tierney who is far happier in attack mode rather than defence mode.
I don’t think anyone will get an easy game at Bramall Lane Liverpool were fortunate to leave with 3 points and going behind to Sheffield United was always going to be a problem given how few goals they concede.
Taking into account all the circumstances 4 points behind City and challenging for the top 4 was probably the best Arsenal could have hoped for currently do do any better will require key quality signings similar to Liverpool’s imo particularly in the defensive area. Cheers 9’s

22nd October 2019 at 2:22 pm #50754i know what you are saying 999 but we as fans went in to hibernation post AW and we all know it will take time
the fact is the club have been remiss in sorting the dfense for to long and it is unforgiveableEmry for what he has has not brought to the team and who he selects and plays and the tactics is all him and frankly im not impressed but he will get t the end of the season from me at least…but i have major doubts
at least with Klopp you could see what he was doing and he changed them a huge amount and improved players and needed to be patient with getting the right players in….oranges and apples
we are not far away though and the right buys in dfense would transform us, but only with a coah/manager that utilises them properly and sets the team up with an identity that isnt made of cardboard left out in the rain….

22nd October 2019 at 2:34 pm #50756Stevo, I agree Arsenal are not to far away from moving forwards with the right buys and Arsenal do have some exciting youngsters too and to be fair it took Klopp for whatever reason 3 years to put Liverpool’s defence right and Emery has had circa 18 months.
Klopp was obviously the right Manager for Liverpool it remains to be seen whether Emery is the right Manager for Arsenal he will though have to address Arsenal’s obvious problems if that is to be the case.
I know there is a lot of misgivings amongst Arsenal supporters towards Emery.

22nd October 2019 at 2:40 pm #50757its not a knee jerk reaction though 999 if we could see the path and direction he wants to take he will likley get the time to achieve that but the same mistakes and selection issues are still happening, to be honest there is very little change since AW…if you didnt know anything and only looked at results you think AW was still there.

22nd October 2019 at 2:45 pm #50758I heard if Arsenal finish outside top 4 this season they can terminate Emery’s contract without paying compensation. If true then Arsenal will either be in CL next season or will have a new manager imo.

22nd October 2019 at 3:46 pm #50764stevo, its not compulsive viewing for me mate, but when Arsenal lose its better entertainment than money can buy 🙂 See the guy that runs it, robbie, is trying his hardest to lead the fans he is interviewing to say “emery out”! Luckiest fan in the world he is, the crapper his team, the more money he makes!
