There is little or nothing to choose between the two teams in the first eleven. but on the bench is where City edges Liverpool. the quality bench players like Jesus, Fernandinho, Sane, Gundogan is a luxury that Liverpool do not enjoy. and you have to give credit to Klopp for competing at this level. he has 11 good players, but his bench doesn’t compliment his starting eleven. on Sunday, they had one player missing from that 11 and they have dropped points.

21st October 2019 at 10:12 pm #50711Spot on Chelsea man, Liverpool best defence, city best midfield, and pretty close in terms of front 3. Where they really differ is quality in depth.

21st October 2019 at 10:15 pm #50714Anyone else get the feeling the top 4 as it is now will be the top 4 come the end of the season?

I would love you to be right. but, it’s still too early to count our chicks. at the minute we look good for a place in the top 4. as is Leicester also. but it will be a mistake to write off Spurs, Arsenal and even United at this early stage.

21st October 2019 at 10:23 pm #50717Chelseaman, I am the eternal optimist mate, my sights are set on 3rd 🙂
Of course though mate, we are not quite at the quarter mark yet and its wishful thinking from me thats all.

21st October 2019 at 10:48 pm #50718That Pepe appears to be one footed. Why would he try and score with the left foot, a ball coming in from the left when it would have been a nailed on goal side footing in with the right. Expensive flop?

22nd October 2019 at 7:13 am #50720Not sure about finishing 3rd Lucky but it’s not impossible certainly all the results went out way this weekend inc last night’s.
Difficult team to play against are Sheffield United very well organised they’ve only conceded 7 goals all season.

22nd October 2019 at 7:27 am #50721AnonymousLD, I’d say there’s a very good chance of that being the case. Maybe not in the same order of course but ya, the top 4 that we have now look to have a lot more about them than the others right now but we all know how momentum works. I hope Leicester get a top 4 spot anyway. I think Chelsea are the best team outside ourselves and City. Arsenal and Spurs might get it together and oust Leicester or even Chelsea but so far they are just not good enough. I realise that I’m saying this as we’re about to play Spurs. It could start with us but I’m a lot more confident about this fixture than I was with the Utd one.

22nd October 2019 at 8:11 am #50724AnonymousArsenal need to improve defensively and also offensively. I thought I’d have a look at the GD and was expecting a load for and also against but 13 goals for isn’t anything remarkable. I don’t want to be too critical of Emery as he’s not in the job too long but even so, I think he should be doing better with the squad he has. I don’t watch Arsenal much , if at all TBH so my opinion is of limited value here.

22nd October 2019 at 8:15 am #50725he has had long enough now mak and been supported and we have not moved forward any measurable way whastover he seems a poor mans AW to me, possesion with no punchline, no defense and we only want to buy attackers and wingers…..he will be given time tho, he doesnt deserve it….a decent manager could do great things with that squad and a few tweaks

22nd October 2019 at 9:42 am #50729AnonymousI had no idea you felt this way about him. I will say though, he’s only there since last year. If you cast your mind back to Klopp’s first 2 years, he also had no defence and for a long time he struggled with PL sides sitting back. It was a fair while before both these issues were resolved and things changed dramatically for us after that. It all came together. We went from being weak at the back (especially to counter attacks) and not being able to break buses down, to having the best defence in the PL and the 2nd best attack. It took many windows. Klopp went from being questioned by the media if he worried about his job, to being lauded as one of the best in the world.
The comparison is a very very loose one, only really to demonstrate the time that it can take for a manager to put all the pieces together. You watch Arsenal every week, I havent only seen you versus us this season, so maybe all the time in the world won’t be enough.

22nd October 2019 at 9:42 am #50730Despite last night’s disappointing result Arsenal are performing to expectations imo they are currently challenging for the top 4 nobody could have expected any more than that.

22nd October 2019 at 9:44 am #50731we are barely doing that though 999 and only because the likes of Spuds are tanking far earlier than ususal, it was a bad result at home and a poor team selection and i really am begining to lose patience with Emery he has shown me a grand total of squat with what he wants, his style and how he is going to achieve that…with the squad we have even with our crap defense i honestly believe a quality manager would get so much more out of the team…we dont even look that great going forward its frankly sad and getting beyond annoying, i was very hopeful after the summer but he is showing nothing as a manager….

22nd October 2019 at 10:21 am #50736I dont see Arsenal any better now than they were in Wenger’s last two seasons. The defence is as bad as it was. No Ramsey and Pepe for a big fee instead.

22nd October 2019 at 10:23 am #50737AnonymousLots of doom and gloom on here. Dem goners are like four points of second spot and City.
Spurs on the coat tails. Its really still too close to be bemoaning form given everyone is taking points of each other.Personally, you have to say Woy of the rovers, sorry, palace is having a storming opening to the season. Zaha hitting form and Benteke scoring a goal or two will see them remain top ten this season.
five points in it between top three and top ten. Brilliant for the neutral.
