Mak, Jose’s position seemed to be if it’s all about the tomorrow’s Ole is a lucky man and I guess it’s easy to understand where he’s coming from from his pov.
The media can obviously be influential in these things personally looking at it from the outside I don’t think United have the appetite to sack Ole as things stand they recognise where the current squad is and they know that the Club need to improve their performance in the transfer market to improve the squad.
It’s all about results though and things can change very quickly both positively and negatively I think United want to give Ole every chance because of the above and he will get to at least the end of the season only time will tell whether that’s the right decision or not.

20th October 2019 at 9:16 pm #50596Oh well I was close with my prediction, got the result right though. Once again I didn’t see the game but the result is not surprising at all, from what I’ve read maybe a bit lucky to get a draw. This season is a replica of last. Liverpool get out the the blocks fast & look solid like there is some new found steel there, city drop a few points early, Liverpool can’t beat the arch enemy despite them being truly dreadful, suddenly start dropping points, city beat one & all take the lead & don’t look back. Easy to predict, it’s as bad as any other sport for predictability.
On a positive the weather is warming up here in Oz & an awesome summer of JetSki & surf beckons.
Take care all, talk soon._____________________________

20th October 2019 at 9:35 pm #50597I think the Utd board may look at today and think they may now get away with damage limitation for the foreseeable future until they can perhaps at least bring in reinforcements in January. Had they got beaten heavily today and lost a few more games ahead, I think they’d have to have made a change. So, somewhat of a turning point today perhaps. But even if they do pick up a reinforcement or two, it’s still hard to see them putting a good run together. And Solksjaer before the game today actually conceded that they may have a better chance today as they tended to do better against more open sides and struggled vs more defensive ones. He was obviously proved right, but for a Man Utd manager to publicly admit that, is for me, an outstanding admittance of weakness – something that should never be admitted by such a manager (even if true). So I can still see him being removed at some point this season.

20th October 2019 at 10:37 pm #50599Lee Bowyer on Connor Gallagher
“The kid’s doing so well, I don’t know how much more I can praise him. It’s not just what he brings in possession, his work-rate… he’s everywhere. He’s literally everywhere. He just does not stop working for the team and we’re lucky to have him. He’s a great player and Chelsea have got a good one there,”
Hopefully the next one off the production line.?

20th October 2019 at 10:55 pm #50600‘It was a really good game, happy for the team, had a strong performance, they defended really well, and I was happy to make an impact,’
‘I was going to shoot last-second, but I saw Tammy wide open and then DeAndre made an unbelievable block, so maybe I should have shot it. ‘I just don’t have that scoring touch but I know it will come back.’
‘[Lampard] told me to do exactly what I’m doing now, continue to train hard, when I get my opportunity I have to take it,’

20th October 2019 at 11:32 pm #50601Just got back from an enjoyable works do night out 🙂
I take a look at this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football
The Image in particular honestly fills me with joy that we actually have a quality back of players that can dig deep with spirit and find the back of the net. Maybe we could have even gone on to win it.
This is probably one of hardest of games and we need to work on how we use our possession, how we deal with pace and team hitting us on the break.
I know some out there may beg to differ, but Henderson in games like this is a weak link. Lallana, Keita, and Ox coming on offered us more balance in the midfield and creativity in attack (aside the front 3) which we lacked. And this is my whole reason why I’ve held on to the point in us not signing somebody fresh.
The Boy Did Superb and Lallana just grows on me. The Ox too; not to far away from finding a Winner.
For me, it’s an uplifting draw because not only does it gives us a vital point, but also keeps us unbeaten and 6 clear of Manchester City. Futhermore, United away is out of the way, plus playing 3 of the big 6 in our opening fixtures and a resilient Leicester.
Top to be top of the pile with 25 points, and being unbeaten with 6 points clear, some out there deep down would be jealous and would love to be in our position.
Maybe United can use this as a springboard. All I see though is Liverpool being in this position of not being able to compete and so the Man United game would be something they’d be extra focused for and give it all they got. Fans obviously are revved just like we will be when they meet us at Anfield.
Nobody can now play the tune of VAR being our best friend. We were stung by the Bumblebee. Anyhow one of our ‘safety nets’ used up. I hope the changes and the substitutions has opened up Jurgen Klopp’s eyes and maybe consider rotating/tweaking keeping it fresh and allowing players opportunities.
A Good Valuable Point above all 🙂

20th October 2019 at 11:36 pm #50602Anybody see Jamie Carragher pointing out United’s set up as the ‘back 7’ lol 😀
Looks like Jose’s defending this – now there’s a surprise 😛

21st October 2019 at 7:28 am #50607Chelsea’s record of nine straight PL wins in the first nine games of a PL season remains.? It’s a difficult one to match or beat but it looked like it might fall this season.

21st October 2019 at 8:02 am #50609Think Klopp was a bit disrespectful in his comments about Utd’s set up. Liverpool were very cautious in their set up until the last 20mins where they needed a goal.
On Ole, whilst the board obviously won’t want to be proven wrong about him, they’ll only keep him on if the results pick up considerably. There won’t be any time for sentiment if we don’t sharply start climbing up the league.
The only slight positive for Ole is that the best players so far have been his signings. Maguire has been so solid in the big games. Awb has looked very strong defensively but needs to work on his runs forward and James is looking like an absolute bargain. I’d love to see Ole remain at the club in some capacity but it’s difficult to do that when you’ve had the top job. He’d make a brilliant head of the academy or something similar. He’s definitely on borrowed time though in the top job.

21st October 2019 at 8:05 am #50610We were never going to win yday and the performance and result was so predictable
What is it with us going old tarford?
We were dreadful for 75 min of the game
Origi out left doesn’t work
Utd played well but they didn’t create many chances at all
Very good point for us in the end as we were that bad

21st October 2019 at 8:20 am #50611Disagree with Ed, both on Klopp being disrespectful and that Liverpool were being cautious. Utd, despite being at home, played with an ultra defensive low block like every man and his dog knew they would. Liverpool had something like 67% possession? Liverpool played their usual 3 midfielders and to some that may seem negative but our attacking strength is down the wings and those 3 in the middle usually compliment that style perfectly as it lets Robertson and TAA bomb on. Utd knew this and got their defensive tactics spot on by nullifying the Liverpool fullbacks. As I mentioned in the Liverpool going forward thread, my gripe was that Klopp didn’t predict this from Utd and start with more emphasis on creativity through the middle. As he says, Utd always defend against Liverpool.

21st October 2019 at 8:36 am #50612But that’s it threeps it was so predictable . I was banging on about it all week. We knew exactly what was coming
Origi wife left doesn’t work. Bobby again didn’t turn at old tarford. It’s like we were scared and utd wanted it more. They pressed much better then us
I’m just happy we got a point. Just disappointed that it was another horrible performance at old tarford

21st October 2019 at 8:38 am #50613Threeps, will have to agree to disagree there. When he says
“When you think about Manchester United against Liverpool, you think both teams are trying like this. But it is not. We try.”
To say Liverpool were trying to win the game and Utd weren’t is just not fair or respectful to an opponent IMO. Our strength is in absorbing attacks and hitting teams on the counter. He’s suggesting we weren’t interested in winning which is ridiculous. We might be shit but there was real intensity from Utd yesterday and Utd weren’t holding on until the last 10-20mins when Liverpool were chasing the game.

21st October 2019 at 8:42 am #50614Amazing how loyal the match going Utd fans are with the Mourinho chants. It’s the very reason they won’t give up on Ole while ever he’s in the job, despite what the likes of myself think.

21st October 2019 at 8:42 am #50615What’s Origi’s wife got to do with it?! 😀
I don’t like signalling out players like Firmino, or Henderson as done dozens of times elsewhere. Ask why Firmino wasn’t good, for me that is usually the tactics and/or the tactics of the other team. Utd did their homework and defended brilliantly, especially against the fullbacks, so Firmino had little to no service. That is down to Klopp, he needs to become more flexible against these stubborn low block teams (feels odd categorising Utd like that!).

Probably the perfect analysis threeps.
Personally I don’t think Ole or United should be criticised for that especially given where United were coming from and given the run Liverpool were on and it nearly worked perfectly had Ole not then switched to a back 5 towards the end of the game.

21st October 2019 at 9:52 am #50618Darren Fletcher writes an article on how Ole stopped Liverpool.
Anybody would think they won a major honour the way they are carrying on.
Erm, it’s easy really, just play a ‘back 7’ lol.

21st October 2019 at 9:56 am #50619Sean,
some players had to pull their finger out and at the same time, some were subbed as a result. Naby Keita. He can’t oooh and ahhh about his fitness. It just goes to show, you have to be able to trust in your own fitness and ability. The same goes for Lallana too.
Hats off though to Klopp for making those substitutions. Given everything that went on during the game, the was one sweet point earned.
It’s out of the way now mate and we don’t have to worry unless we meet them in a Cup game 🙂 🙂

21st October 2019 at 10:02 am #50620I’ve no problem with how utd set up. You have to give credit to ole for his tactics
There’s a huge gulf between the teams these days. Utd played very well and we didn’t but we still didn’t lose.
It was a clear foul for their goal. You can’t come in from behind like that and Atkinson was giving utd free kicks for much less. Var should have ruled the goal out and manes was correctly ruled out.
Doesn’t really matter as I just thought we were so poor and would have accepted a defeat. We just don’t show up there and if we are going to win the league, we need to show up in big hostile games
Full credit to utd. They got their tactics spot on .
A draw is very good considering everything. Excellent start to the season for us. 4 points from utd and Chelsea away is a berry good return

21st October 2019 at 10:03 am #50621Give it a rest Nil. It’s the biggest game in English football. One was in incredible form, the other was on a downward spiral. People write about big games. Hardly a case of anyone “carrying on” because we got a point at home.
Just seen the Spurs highlights. Feel for Watford there. How they didn’t come away with all 3 points is a mystery. Alli clear hand ball and Watford had a stonewall pen turned down. Poch needs to start picking up some results soon.
