Reckon 1-1 was fair overall… VAR is still shit though, a stain on the game!!

20th October 2019 at 6:25 pm #50574No way is that Derby dead!
As a neutral I just wish there was a late winner, either way. Is funny how goals change games, if pool had played like they did after the goal for the full second half they would have very likely won it.

20th October 2019 at 6:29 pm #50576AnonymousA point is all we deserved there. We had a lot of initiative at the end but we were just too poor for the rest of the match.
Some very disappointing performances out there today. Henderson and Oxelade were just nowhere near good enough. The Ox has an excuse perhaps, as he’s not being utilized but I just don’t want to see Henderson start the next match.
It was nice to see Lallana back playing well. Of the lads, you’d have expected him to be the rusty one but we were a bit more dynamic when he came on.
It’s not great to come away from another one of these fixtures without a win but as time was going on, I was more and more in the “gladly take it” mindset.
Awful forgettable match but we’re still unbeaten. City gain 2 points on us but it’s always tough going to OT.

20th October 2019 at 6:31 pm #50578AnonymousNo a draw is the best result for all other teams except City who preferred a Liverpool loss, United could easily still be a danger to other top 4 teams ambitions, Its still very early a long way to go.

20th October 2019 at 6:31 pm #50579Another dreadful performance at old tarford so delighted to get a draw as we showed no balls at old tarford again
Ole changing his formation and our subs changed the game
Terrible defending for both goals

20th October 2019 at 6:35 pm #50581Think you’re right Sean, Ole changing formation played in to Liverpool’s hands.

20th October 2019 at 6:36 pm #50582We were never going to win with that starting line up. If one of our front 3 is out, throwing in Origi just isnβt enough. He has to also make an adjustment in midfield – as he ultimately realised as the game went on. Hopefully Klopp will learn from this.

20th October 2019 at 7:08 pm #50586Utd were better than usual. Liverpool worse than usual. Overall a fair result but thought Liverpool might nick it at the end. Will paper over a few cracks at Utd.
Most importantly, that’s 1 more for Utd towards that magic 40-point mark ?

20th October 2019 at 7:14 pm #50587Never thought I would hear the “40 points” by a Utd fan.
Sell Lukaku, get rid of Sanchez…ok but why no replacement. As bad as usnot replacing Kompany._____________________________

20th October 2019 at 7:19 pm #50588Yep I said that at the time Adlab. They weren’t world beaters but their goals needed replacing. Neither Martial or Rashford have ever been prolific goalscorers so it was suicide to expect they’d suddenly contribute enough to replace Lukaku’s goals, whatever people’s opinions on him were.

20th October 2019 at 7:52 pm #50589AnonymousI know it’s hard for a Liverpool fan to complain about dropping points for the first time this season because you can’t win them all… but besides the last 10 minutes, we didn’t look like we were trying to win.
That’s all I’ll say on that, as Mikus said, I hope Klopp has learned something here. To not lose the game is great but we still lost points. City have shown everyone that you’ve essentially got to win every game if you want to take the PL title. They are capable of winning the next 15 games in a row and being out of sight. Klopp has got to look at that midfield and his “wealth” of options. If 3 of them aren’t stamping out their place in the team, it’s time to go to market. Some of the lads have a valid excuse and require time but they have been fit for a while now and he’s still not picking them (Ox and Keita specifically).
I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think I am however I’m gonna say it. I think we’ve got to go and buy a midfielder. Players should be making those starting berths their own (like everywhere else on the pitch). I just wonder if out of the rather large number of players if we haven’t got 3 that are good enough.
Fabinho is 100% a lock, he’s not involved in this conversation.
Wijnaldum had some good moments today and even though I’m a huge fan of his, I am now starting to feel like he needs to do more.
Henderson has got to be dropped. He has been our poorest player now by a long way, so far this season. His performance today was just not good enough as an individual but doubly so as our Captain. Ox was also quite poor today as I already said but I think most were just too slow to make their decisions today. Passing to feet, when we should be running onto something, or just holding the ball when a quick lay off is needed to stop the play from stagnating… We just looked so flat and it’s not just the Utd game where we’ve let this sneak in. This is just the first time we’ve been punished.
You know, I’m actually glad that we’ve got the City game coming. We kinda need to get a bit of a fright if I’m honest. There will be no sleep-walking against City, or we’ll find ourselves 5 down. It’ll be Spurs first, who are going to be in serious danger of a rebound, after their recent terrible form. I’m always wary of a limping rival, so to speak.
Moving forward, start Lallana and Milner against Genk. Give them a trial run and see if they can claim a palce against Spurs. Start Ox also, instead of Origi.. the match fitness will give him a better chance of finding his form, for the games that really matter. No offense to Genk but that should be a high score win, regardless.

20th October 2019 at 7:58 pm #50590Ed, I think Ole changing tactics late on gave the impetus to Liverpool.
But in fairness to Ole preparing for this game left him short of time after the international break.
Personally I think United want to give Ole every chance and I don’t think without there’s a complete collapse he’ll go at least until the end of the season and it will be reviewed from there.
I don’t think United are that far away from being a good side with the addition of 2/3 players.

20th October 2019 at 8:35 pm #50593AnonymousIve noticed that there is a lot of this “Lets get behind Ole” coming from the media and ex players etc. I didnt see what Jose had to say today but is it that he’s gone against the grain?
I know he’s biased but if thats the case, Id agree with his side… I dont buy this ide that you should back an obviously poor manager. A wrong choice who is then backed is actually 2 mistakes. Its mot one cancelling out the other.
Ole reminds me a bit of Rodgers in his dealings with the press. Everything he says is an effort to stamp his authority down, or to at least appear “strong” or in control but it only makes me feel that he’s totally lost.
Maybe time will prove me wrong but I seriously doubt it.

20th October 2019 at 8:41 pm #50594Mak, I can not imagine any scenario in which Ole will be manager of Manchester United next season. I wouldnt expect the club to be upfront about this so will semi back him publicly as best they can, but surely they are planning for change in the summer, I cant see it any other way right now.
