7th October 2018 at 6:24 pm #27016FFS Think Mahrez might be on the bench next game. Hard enough getting a penalty at Anfield as the previous 85minutes showed.

7th October 2018 at 7:53 pm #27019Liverpool were very fortunate today. Awful penalty though.
Liverpool’s squad is not deep enough to win the title and the midfield lacks creativity.
City are likely to ride off into the sunset once De Bruyne is back.

7th October 2018 at 8:01 pm #27020Good win Chelseaman. More quality saves from Kepa too added to his saves of Thurs night etc and he was 4th in the passing accuracy stats too with 93%.?

7th October 2018 at 8:33 pm #27023Lucky win pen miss but big improvement from our back line.
GreAt start to the season. Some tough games out of the way.5 clean sheets from 8 after Spurs, city and Chelsea in those games is great.

7th October 2018 at 8:39 pm #27025I would like to know
1. Why a 60 million pound player cannot score from 12 yds, get him off the list of penalty takers
2. Why did Jesus or Fernandino or Sane take it
Game did not live up to expectatations but I suppose both pleased to come out of it with a point_____________________________

7th October 2018 at 9:03 pm #27027So many positives today inc a 31 pass move for the third goal according to Sky.
We are a bit too reliant on Hazard but I wonder whether the Barca fans don’t say the same about Messi?
Who would have predicted unbeaten in 11 games and 2nd in the PL level on points with both City and Liverpool at the top of the table having knocked out Liverpool in the League Cup at Anfield?
Not me. ?
If we got ourselves a striker we might yet be a contender for the title. But CL qualification looks very possible playing like we are currently.
What a job Sarri has done all over the pitch in just three months imagine should he have three years like Klopp or two years and Pep’s spend where we might be.
For his next trick Sarri is going to turn Morata into a regular goalscorer 2 in 2 appearance now! ?

8th October 2018 at 7:54 am #27029Highly impressed with Chelsea. Be interesting to see how they get in on when they face the top 5 away but they play some great stuff
Thought pep got his tactics spot on yday. City dropped a bit deeper and totally nullified us up top. We do look tired already so klopp needs to start rotating more
The two teams can play so much better so I’ll happily take the point againest the beat team in the league.
Remarkable change in our defence now which is the most pleasing thing.
No way did I think we still unbeaten now after those run of fixtures. We are in good shape and we’re only going to improve. Front 3 are totally out of sync but it will click soon

8th October 2018 at 9:03 am #27030Sean, it’s the Liverpool defence that is doing it for Liverpool at the moment and the energetic high press, problem is when the energy levels are not there neither is the press consistently and you don’t look the same team also Klopp doesn’t seem to really trust anyone outside of the starting eleven you needed to make changes for the Napoli game or the City game as it’s very difficult to play two such high profile games in the CL and the PL with virtually the same eleven players plus there’s very little creativity in midfield.
Last season you’re front three particularly Salah were incredible this season so far they’ve been average I’ve read these comments from you and other Liverpool fans about “when we click we’ll be fine” but we’re 11 games into the season now and you’re on a poor run of results I’m not sure you’ll see what you did from the front three and particularly Salah last season I’m sure you’ll blow some teams away particularly the lesser teams and not playing two games a week will help but I can’t see you beating City to the title with the current squad it’s just too thin and the lack of creativity in midfield is a problem.
Keita is not living up to his billing and there are obviously problems with Fabinho which doesn’t help when you need to rotate.
When Chelsea knocked Liverpool out of the League Cup I saw lots of posts claiming it was a good thing as Liverpool can now focus on the PL and the CL but both Liverpool and Klopp need to win a trophy and the domestic Cups offer the best opportunity.
Having said all that Liverpool are overall much stronger than they were particularly defensively and as Souness said yesterday last season Liverpool would have lost that game.
You’re right about Chelsea let’s see how they do away to the top 5 teams we’re still a work in progress imo and are short of a dominant centre back and a goal scoring striker for a credible title challenge but it’s going better than I expected under Sarri and we’ve currently got a half decent chance of claiming a CL place but there’s still a long way to go and Arsenal are hitting form now too so we’ll see but we’re going in the right direction. Cheers 999

8th October 2018 at 11:09 am #27033Ye some good points nine maybe teams just have the top 3 Sussed now but I think they will improve
We have come out of 3 very tough league games unbeaten. We haven’t won in 4 but I would have gladly taken 2 points from Chelsea and city. We played really well againest chelsea.
He needs to rotate and yiur right – he needs to trust the new players who he spent big money on.
We started last season like without picking up points that’s why I’m confident we will improve
Chelsea play some great stuff. Move the back so well and look very organized.
Aresnal sneaking up aswell abd spurs back winning games. Very tight so far. Big few months coming up mate but I’m really enjoying it all

8th October 2018 at 11:46 am #27035A lot of my prediction of Liverpool being challengers was based on Keita hitting the ground running and banging some goals in. He would have given us an edge on the other two sides and taken the burden away from our front 3 and so taken the pressure of them, which in turn might well have made them find their form more quickly, though not freshening up our attack over the summer wasn’t ideal as that front 3 know there’ll always be the first names on the teamsheet no matter what form they’re in (as has been proven).
All we can do now as fans is hope Keita does settle in quickly – I’m not going to be too critical as I think we forget at times that no matter how much someone is paid, settling into different countries at such a young age and being in the limelight can be very difficult. So I’m more than prepared to give him some time. But regardless, I think dipping into the January market is probably now vital if we have any plans for the title. (Problem is now, without gaining any edge on the other two sides, they too could look to strengthen in January. A window that is usually quieter could potentially see some more activity as all those teams look to gain an advantage over the others).

8th October 2018 at 1:38 pm #27036Putting aside the fact that the January window is a notoriously difficult window to trade in I’m not sure Liverpool will be in a position to spend big again in January I’ve read suggestions that Liverpool were of course well aware of the Fekir injury and the reason they pulled out of that transfer at the last minute was because Klopp had to choose between buying Fekir and Alisson and he chose Alisson? But we’ll see.

8th October 2018 at 5:36 pm #27040Well, that was a dreadful game, wasn’t it? Very unlike Pep and Klopp to send their teams out primarily not to lose. I think a draw was probably a fair result, despite the missed penalty. Like you, 9, I think City will stretch their lead at the top once KDB is back, but I can’t say I am unhappy with our league position at the moment. The only players this season who are playing better than they did last year for us are Gomez, VVD, Milner and Wijnaldum. And obviously we’ve now got a keeper! Trent, Robbo, Henderson and of course the front 3 are well short of the heights they reached last year. They are all capable of playing the odd great game, I thought Henderson was very good yesterday, but they are not stringing the games together, or even all performing at the same time. Keita I thought looked completely lost when he replaced Milner yesterday, and for some reason Klopp just seems not to fancy / trust Shaquiri. We were screaming for him to replace either Mo or Mane after an hour yesterday, but we never saw him…just like Naples.
However, our next run of games look on paper eminently winnable, with only Arsenal away before the end of November, but, and it’s a big but, we do need Keita to step up and prove his worth, and even more importantly, we need our front three to recapture the joy they seemed to play with last year. Maybe Huddersfield, Cardiff and Fulham will give them that opportunity.

8th October 2018 at 6:59 pm #27043That’s a good run of games to have now Hightown be surprised if Liverpool don’t take maximum points and score a few along the way too.
