Distinct possibility the home crowd at Villa Park are going to be singing this at some stage Sunday afternoon although, ironicly, I would prefer a YooUtd win for purely selfish reasons (and not because it means he will likely stay!).
Not many other upsets on the cards… away to Brighton was normally tricky, but with them both out of form and likely playing a high line, we should have enough fire-power to win that (even if Waspy thinks the team with the joint 2nd best defensive record in the League can’t defend! LOL!)
Certainly can’t see any of the other big-dogs dropping points before we stop for yet another bloody international break…

2nd October 2024 at 11:05 am #215826In light of publicly reporting the situation on ETH, there is still uncertainty because of what the report could be interpreted as and what had took place even after United’s FA Cup Triumph.
It’s unsettling for everybody connected with the Club. So does his tenure determine on the outcome of game by game?
There are tough matches for them let’s be frank. A firm decision needs to be made as soon as because this doubt can hamper stability within the team in trying to work through the season and deliver progress

2nd October 2024 at 11:07 am #215827City and Arsenal wins easy-peasy. Palace will be a tough trip for us playing Sat lunchtime and Selhurst Park will be revved up. We need the right 11 selected. I wouldn’t start with Zobo at the mo. See how Wednesday night shapes up.

2nd October 2024 at 12:51 pm #215829Banjo are you saying spurs are solid defensively mate?
Liverpool have conceded two goals but i dont think we look defensively secure.
Spurs always give you a chance as they are so attacking. The high line is far to high and sunday should be great fun. Two crazy high lines. Both over play at the back aswell
Ive no doubt spurs will concede over 50 pl goals this season m8

2nd October 2024 at 2:01 pm #215831Time will tell, cyber chum, and you’re not wrong about being a little bit open under Aussie Ardiles, but then again, the stats kinda spec for themselves… fewer goals than last year, given up fewer chances than last year… not for one second thinking we’re going to be top of the tree when it comes to goals conceded (depending which way up the tree is, of course!) but I think you’re opinion is a little bit excessive, cyber chum!
Last season, perhaps, but not so much this season (so far!)

2nd October 2024 at 2:08 pm #215832Sean, I’m thinking like this too mate. Even though 2 goals have been conceded, I don’t feel too good about our defence and like an accident waiting to happen. I’m not sure why that is given the experience. We look more assured with Konate partnering VVD, but I think this boils down to not still having a proper Gini or Fabinho in our team to protect the defensive line.

5th October 2024 at 12:16 pm #215850Good Afternoon, my fellow football fans 🙂
Our game on shortly. I am absolutely encouraged by this set up
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c1d5q230nz2t#Line-ups
Finally away from home (and I know last year was different with our pile of players injured etc), 4-2-3-1. Gravenberch and Macca. This instils cohesion and a guard to minimize threat and play in our own box. Defence is the key. Jota the lone striker and Salah as an actual wide man. Let’s get the 3 points C’mon!!!!!

5th October 2024 at 1:27 pm #215853Kostas really has been impressive this first half. Busy little player offering threat. I love the 4-2-3-1. Purpose, possession and a proper structure. Better too without the 3 in midfield and Zobo. Superb move that led to Jota finishing. This is what we need to aspire too. The 3 attacking midfield set up playing with freedom with the help of Curtis and Trent.
We need to protect and add to our lead. This is a great opportunity.

5th October 2024 at 2:34 pm #215858Different 2nd half of the second half. I don’t make light of this, but Palace’s substitutions were almost a game changer for them; very fortunate to hold on to the 1-0 lead and come away with all 3 points. I think with our subs, our shape changed and we let loose at times causing scary moments on the counter.
The big concern obviously is Alisson and he’s set to be out for weeks maybe even months. Good to see the new keeper standing in.
Top spot certainty for 2 weeks; hoping now for the others to slip up.

5th October 2024 at 2:35 pm #215859Yeah, Chucks we got away with that. The officials did document an explanation shown on TV. Whether or not people will agree with the reasoning and decision, it was good to actually see a response.

5th October 2024 at 2:49 pm #215860Wasn’t nailed on, but we’ve seen ’em given for less… guess it depends on the mood of the ref!

5th October 2024 at 2:57 pm #215861Yeah mate, agree. The old C word once again – Consistency, but that can’t be achievable unless all Refs sing from the same hymn sheet 🙂

5th October 2024 at 4:14 pm #215862Take that win all day nil mate. Should havebeen over at half time.
Solid start for us but fixtures have been kind. Huge tests after international break and we will learn a lot more abiut this team as so many tough games.

5th October 2024 at 4:53 pm #215863Sounds like the Goonies got the benifit of another decision which could have gone the other way at a crucial stage of the game… again… okay, they’re grinding out results, but they’re getting overdrawn at the jammy bastards bank… I think it’s starting to look like Pool are going to be the 115 also-rans this year.

5th October 2024 at 5:27 pm #215864Yeah, need to watch highlights tonight; I suppose the encouraging thing from the opposition is that City are leaking goals haha and Halaand didn’t really show up this afternoon. Gunners still on another level. The dark-horses are Chelsea.

5th October 2024 at 5:32 pm #215865Apart from the 115 on the opening day of the season, Jammy Todgers haven’t played anybody of note, not even sure they’ve played another current top 10 ten, had the easist start to the season just about possible… their next 4 prem games are Liverpool, Newcatle, YooUtd, Arsenal… let’s see where they are after that lot before we pencil them in as challengers! 🙂
