Just looking at todays papers (on hols this week).
May I offer my congrats to Liverpool on finally winning the title…..at least that is so according to the press. We are clearly not good enough according to many! We have serious injury issues at the moment but we just manage to win.
I just remember last season. No Liverpool fan on here thinks its over._____________________________

30th September 2019 at 9:51 am #48828Maybe we will have an idea who will win in APRIL!!!!!!! Today is far too early. Adlab…yes it is all doom and gloom from the media re City….I really do not mind it anymore, when they are short of a story they will say how good we are. Game at a time, that is all that is required

30th September 2019 at 10:10 am #48833Adlab, as soon as Liverpool drop a point, the media will be all over us
5 points with 31 games to go lol. Anyone who thinks the league is over is absolutely nuts. We could be 20 points ahead with ten games to go and Iβd never think itβs over
City are just to good of a team to ever write off. City havenβt fully got going yet but they will very soon.

30th September 2019 at 10:21 am #48835City ultimately won last season because they were the bolder team. They still look like the bolder team.

30th September 2019 at 10:59 am #48838City have more in their armoury and a stronger squad but the injury to Laporte is a massive setback and the City defence currently looks very vulnerable Everton troubled them and they had only scored 5 goals up until Saturday.
If City are going to win the title this season they will have to remain close to Liverpool up to January when they either get Laporte back or strengthen.
A Stone’s return might help but he looks a bit all over the place defensively too. Liverpool away in November with the defence currently playing as it is looks problematical to me.
Long way to go yet though in the title race.
Can Leicester get up there and challenge is the big question??

30th September 2019 at 12:04 pm #48841AnonymousNine, that’s the wonders of your clubs situation this season, you can go very easy on expectation but the possibilities are actually quite high. I would have said at the start of the season that they are both high and low but Mount and Abraham are like top signings, so the whole transfer ban issues are out the window for me tbh. It’s early and we’ve not seen Lampard 8 months into the job after 3-4 poorish results in a row. We’ve not seen that response.
I’m much more hopeful of his reign than I was of Ole’s though. That’s the comparison for me and when you watch Chelsea play, they have so much quality in their team but when you look at Utd, it’s just not there. Like, there are players at Chelsea that I’d like to see at Liverpool but not a single Utd player who I would. Maybe that’s unfair on Ole then? …
Adlab, is it possible that you’re dramatizing the dramatic? I don’t think the press are suggesting that the title race is over, even if sections of them are going too far (as they always do). I think in previous seasons (pre-Pep), this lead would be indicative, rather than significant on it’s own but since we all know that Pep could go on a 14 winning game run at the drop of a hat, this means absolutely nothing. 10 points would be nothing. Sean, I’d probably call the title at 20 points TBH. It’ll never happen but in a hypothetical scenario where it does, that’s such a gap that the wheels have fallen off at the other club.
As for the reality of it all though, what we know is that both City and Liverpool are not playing particularly well right now. Either or both could have dropped points at the weekend. I think Liverpool came closest, so I’d definitely be careful before talking us up for anything other than 3 points in the CL game coming.

30th September 2019 at 12:06 pm #48842AnonymousMikus, we can run out of ideas. We also seem to have fitness problems in the first half of seasons. As it goes though we then seem to be fitter than our opposition, so it might be tactical. But ya, we could do with adding someone to our midfield arsenal. I think either we get using Oxlade and Keita again (fitness issues etc aside), or we go and sign someone like Madison (linked today by some ex players :P).

30th September 2019 at 12:28 pm #48843The βconcernβ is Mak that this is not something new. We saw this in many of the draws last season where we just lacked the panache to turn a game around. I mean the way we just kept recycling the ball between defenders, full backs and the midfield on Saturday just wasnβt good enough. Yes these teams can be hard to break down but weβve got to be quicker with our passing, we have to run and drive forward – even if itβs very congested you at least draw the foul and gain territory. But we did virtually none of that. Itβs was obviously good that Klopp did make a few personnel and tactical changes which helped later in the game. But we still generally need a lot more from the midfield. Weβll see what Ox and Keita can do if they can stay fit.

30th September 2019 at 12:44 pm #48844Mandzukic being linked again to Man Utd, possibly in January. I really donβt see the problem. Why not? Ibrahimovic had a good impact and cost very little. Worth a shot, though Iβd also consider a look at Dzeko. Still banging them in for Roma, and always rated him at City.

30th September 2019 at 1:14 pm #48845Mak, United away and getting beaten 4 nil albeit against the run of play followed by Liverpool in the Super Cup and 2 draws and a defeat at home in the PL all in your first 9 games together with having to cope with a transfer ban and a lengthy injury list that included many of your best players means Lampard has already been tested imo but I’m sure there will be even bigger tests ahead too.
There will I’m sure be up and down days for Chelsea given the young players included in the team.
Apart from Mount and Abraham, Tomori is looking very promising and Hudson Odoi will soon be match fit and other very promising young players are coming through too with Frank already sitting on a heavy transfer war chest to plug any gaps he thinks need plugging the future for Chelsea could be very interesting going forwards.
I’m not getting too excited though about this season yet once we get Rudiger and Kante back and playing regularly I think we will have a better idea of Chelsea’s true potential this season but we haven’t seen anything like this regular level of Academy player usage since the Class of 92 and if it turns out half as well as that I think Chelsea fans would be very happy.? Cheers 9’s

30th September 2019 at 2:37 pm #48846Waspy-If Arse dont win tonight @ OT considering how awful United are, plus the injuries, then they never will and dont deserve to be fighting for 4th.

They annoy me ? as they just stroll around. Show some balls arsenal!
