Kdb is a joy to watch at times. What a cross for that goal
Keane is getting worse.

28th September 2019 at 6:15 pm #48708The everton player who scored was offside during the build up but that’s a classic example of first and second phase of play. Correct decision in my opinion.

When does one phase end and another begin?

28th September 2019 at 6:24 pm #48710Adlab, and thereβs the thing, VAR was wanted (by some) to make sure there were no errors, but itβs only being used when it suits. If theyβre offside in the βfirst phaseβ then theyβre offside and the second phase doesnβt happen…..Pagan

28th September 2019 at 6:24 pm #48711Seamus Coleman’s been immense throughout this first-half.
A big ask to get anything but momentum for the Toffees is better.
City I think will be eventual winners if they bring on fresh legs – most probably 3 or 4-1.

28th September 2019 at 6:32 pm #48712My view is if a player is offside but the ball is not directly played to him then it’s ok as long as he gets onside when it is. So the ball went to Coleman he was off but not directly involved. When Coleman shot he was on so when he got a touch he was ok.
You could argue, and I’d say justifiably so, that by making a run during the first phase towards the goal that he is indeed active during that phase. But that never seems to be the case these days.

28th September 2019 at 6:39 pm #48714Threeps, thatβs the old βnot interferingβ guidance, now you can receive the ball in an offside position and if the assistant doesnβt pick it up you play on and then in the βnext phaseβ (which is an opinion) you can play the ball to someone (second phase) who then scores a legitimate goal and the offence in the first phase is ignored. The end of first phase and start of second phase is an opinion and as such makes a mockery of VAR….Pagan

28th September 2019 at 6:45 pm #48715Exactly guys we cant really agree on here but when the Spurs player was 1.6cm as judged offside there is no consistency of interpretation. I think it was Mak who posted in terms of everybody is going to get pissed off with VAR they will have the excuse to scrap it

28th September 2019 at 6:45 pm #48716Not sure what VAR has to do with it, it was a legitimate goal by the rules, VAR wouldn’t change anything. The only arguement would be if the rules are correct or not, and in this case I’d have sympathy for City.

28th September 2019 at 7:05 pm #48721Don’t think anybody can be complaining about the ref now, I wasn’t even sure that was a foul, let alone yellow, and now City are winning…

28th September 2019 at 7:14 pm #48726Everton just canβt capitalise on Cityβs weaknesses the way Norwich were able to.
