I was at City game to day. The realistic score should have been 11-3 City in that mood would have beaten anyone to day, maybe not that scoreline but they were good, very entertaining football

That’s a matter of opinion I guess because I think grey should have seen red for the over the ball tackle.

21st September 2019 at 6:19 pm #47923Newcastle been awful, stat just came up with 64% pass accuracy out of just over 100 pass attempts, Brighton were I think 88% out of over 300 pass attempts. I think Newcastle are going down. I think Watfords owners and Mike Ashley all deserve nothing better than relegation, just a shame the fans have to suffer.

21st September 2019 at 6:21 pm #47924Everton should just sack Silva.

21st September 2019 at 6:27 pm #47925To be fair Mav I dont for one second truly believe they would have got less points or won less games if they had kept allardyce, Silva has not really shown any value at all. Everton look weaker than the sum of their parts and whenever that is the case over a long period, the manager will eventually be sacked.

21st September 2019 at 6:59 pm #47927Mak, as you say that is a matter of opinion re the Gray tackle and the Referees opinion was that it was a yellow card and there’s a reluctance to overule Referee’s in such situations if there is not “a clear and obvious error.”
My quote that you reprinted clearly refered to the offside decisions and seemingly you were querying the validity of those offside decisions but they aren’t a matter of opinion and like it or not both were proven to be offside by VAR.

21st September 2019 at 7:40 pm #47931AnonymousI wasn’t referring to the offside decisions but more that in that sentence is you saying VAR made no mistakes. Since VAR checked the tackle and gave it the all clear, well, here we are.
They keep going on about this “clear and obvious error” but it’s just a way to subvert VAR. I have no time for their BS if I’m honest. There have been plenty of situations so far where pretty much everyone but the officials agree that the ref got it wrong and that VAR should have corrected the situation.
Are we to have a season where we’re constantly discussing the definition of terms, or should we just be looking at it from a position of the base rules of the game and that is that a tackle over the ball is a red card offense. In other situations you would say that a player being pulled over in the box would equal a penalty. These rules are unchanged. VAR was meant to give us a second look at serious situations and it stopping the game or bringing back calls was meant to be the good with the bad.. but what we’ve ended up with is the same bullshit refereeing AND the stopping of the game, the ruining of celebrations… Nobody implements something this poorly unless they are doing it on purpose.

21st September 2019 at 7:46 pm #47932AnonymousAs for the incredibly pedantic offside rules. They need to give advantage tot he attackers where it’s like this. It might technically be correct but correct can be incredibly stupid at the same time, which the Spurs goal decision was.

21st September 2019 at 7:48 pm #47934Wow, just catching up with it all π
Need to definitely see MOTD tonight. Encountering locals at my workplace who went to the game really rated Leicester’s performance. Can’t comment yet on all the VAR controversy till I’ve seen it all on Tely! π
No surprise re Man City, but Sterling not selected will cost me in my Fantasy Team!
Speaking of cost, Everton let my down my acca – they’re just a let-down or that Sheff United deserved some credit on merit.
Hey Ho, all good, and been a great day weather-wise for September π

21st September 2019 at 7:49 pm #47935AnonymousI mean, in the not too distant future, they’ll be able to have AI make offside calls that are instantaneous and by all means, be pedantic about it if that can be the case but for now, they are pressing pause and ruining a potentially good moment for fans, for what? If they are so interested in making the correct call they wouldn’t have VAR hamstrung to back up the ref when it comes to the other scenarios.
I’ll shut up now.

21st September 2019 at 7:51 pm #47937AnonymousNil, don’t talk to me about the FPL man. I had Aguero and he only scored 1 goal, got an assist also. I mean they get 8 and he only scores 1? And KDB only assisted 1 also.. scoring one himself too. It might sound great but i my other league, people have the silva’s , so Im WAY behind them. I cant catch a break in the FPL this season.
As for the toher let downs, Ya I started Digne, who got 1 point. I had Lunstram on the bench and he gets 9… hahah

21st September 2019 at 7:58 pm #47939*Lundstram* Lol π Mak, I teased my Brother about him and I actually stuck with him and he’s earned me 9 points – π
I’ve had my place in my Work League at 1st, but it’ll depend on what happens tomozz. I may lose it.
I’m a lot careful in the way I use my Transfers now.
Yeah Man, I had Kyle Walker and he only gained 1 measly point!

21st September 2019 at 8:39 pm #47940AnonymousI’ve watched the Grey tackle on Rose a dozen times and it’s a red a dozen times, it wasn’t late or mistimed ,it was deliberate a potential leg breaker. Are the VAR officials going to side with the ref and not override his decisions , if so it’s a sad day.

21st September 2019 at 9:14 pm #47942Yeah, had a look on Sportsmail. Something does look dodgy. Holding out for Motd. Will watch it though properly through a Cup Of Tea Tomorrow Morning.
Something Tells me though, Tottenham were Robbed.

21st September 2019 at 9:28 pm #47943Mak, I thought my post below made it pretty clear I was just talking about the two disallowed offside goals but as we’ve said before sometimes things get lost in translation. Cheers 999
“Sean, VAR didnβt get anything wrong today though mate itβs just the incidents were really tight and pre VAR the Aurier goal wouldnβt have been ruled out.
Both were though off side when you looked at the VAR replays albeit only marginally.”
ps my previous post to the one above agreed with your point about ruining good moments.” Sadly what it does take away from the game is goal celebrations which go from ecstacy to agony over a couple of minutes.”
Let’s hope we both don’t suffer any of the same problems tomorrow. π

21st September 2019 at 9:46 pm #47946999, VAR was meant to correct clear and obvious errors, thatβs not the reality though, itβs being used to micro analyse, which is the sharp end of the wedge, as now we have the technology it will end up being used for every decision, as every decision effects the outcome of the game….Pagan

21st September 2019 at 9:47 pm #47947AnonymousNine, I’m not sure why this is a problem. Part of that statement literally is “VAR didnβt get anything wrong today”. I get that you’re referring to the 2 goal decisions after that but you have still made an overall statement that VAR was completely correct. Like… I wasn’t even arguing against you so much, only stated that I think the tackle should be a red. If you have somehow read hostility in what i said then I’ll say it wasn’t meant at all.
Brickslayer, I have tried to look it up again but couldn’t find it. I wanted to be sure of my initial position on it but ya, I instantly thought “red!” and then when they said they are checking it, I just assumed it was going to be a red but what do you know, the officials are either corrupt, or incompetent to a ridiculous degree.
