In fact, I would even go as far to say we have a Top 2, rather than a Top 6…
More like Top 2 followed by “Wacky Races Brigade”!!so annoying when i have to agree with you Nancy!
found this an amusing read this morning…especially this line…..
“ater, Effenberg found a creative way to lash out at his compatriot as he wrote a chapter heading titled “What Lothar Matthaus knows about football” in his autobiography – which had nothing but a blank page underneath it.”
BURN!

13th September 2019 at 10:51 am #47404AnonymousIt’s true that right at this moment Liverpool and City are maybe a ways off on their own but you wouldn’t call it a big 2 or anything like that, unless it carried on for years. The topography can change in a few games when you’re basing things off of such recent form.
As for Maguire’s move from Leicester. Ya, the TV money they already make brings them closer, especially when you’re looking at an international market. What you touched on though about these clubs no longer needing to sell, gives them the chance to double the benefit of an excellent price, by re-investing smartly. £85m goes a long way, if they spend it well. Of course European clubs charge a PL premium, essentially, this is natural but Leicester did the right thing in my book by holding onto the money until the next window. They have a quality player who’s come in to at least fill the position for now. I didn’t know a thing about him before now but they don’t seem to have lost much there. Time will tell but perhaps they can go out in the summer and spend £120m+ on 2 top signings, or 3 decent ones.
I absolutely love that this is a possibility for teams outside of the top 4-6 in the PL.

13th September 2019 at 11:48 am #47405Think we all do Micky, makes it all more competitive, take away the Bevies and Butthead combo at the top of the table and nobody really goes into a game with a great deal of confidence these days.

13th September 2019 at 12:30 pm #47407bit of Friday fun….yes im bored, so very bored
1. Daniel James has scored in his first two Premier League appearances for Manchester United at Old Trafford. Who is the only Red Devils player, past or present, to have done so in their first three home games in the competition?
2. Which club have given more minutes to Englishmen (2,712) than any other in the Premier League this season?
3. Which Premier League player has had the most shots without hitting the target (13) in the competition so far this season?
4. Harry Kane moved joint-fourth for Premier League goals in London derbies with his 28th last time out against Arsenal. Thierry Henry leads the way with 43, while Frank Lampard is tied for second. Who is level with Lampard on 32?
5. Only one Premier League side are yet to take the lead in the competition this season. Who are they?_____________________________

13th September 2019 at 6:21 pm #47427Sean, I’m of the opinion Ole was the perfect caretaker after the Jose debacle. Exactly what the club needed just to halt the decline while the chief decision makers took stock of the situation and settled on a permanent choice. Giving him the job full time was incredibly naive, though.
Rashford, I’m not quite sure. Too often, he looks too eager to impress. I think he’s best off the left and lacks the composure and finesse to be a proper number 9. I’ve always preferred him, in fact, when he comes off the bench rather than starting. He needs to nail down a position though. Big season for him.

13th September 2019 at 7:16 pm #47428AnonymousMav, I’ve actually bet on Leicester to win. I don’t think its a sure thing, far from it but their counter attacking may suit them at OT. I don’t think anyone trusts the Utd players and I’d say that it makes no sense that they havent sold a certain someone but they seem to be of the opinion that he’s worth serious money just because thats what they paid for him.
I’ll be totally honest, I wouldn’t have Pogba at Liverpool for free and on low wages. He’s not a footballer by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe he once was and it’s all gone to his head but he’s a negative asset. They need to be smart enough to realise that he’s best gotten rid of for whatever they can get.

13th September 2019 at 7:50 pm #47433Mak @ 7:46am, I’m just catching up with posts from today. Mak, that’s essentially how the League is now with Manchester City ultimately being the dominant force.
Thank goodness for us LFC faithful, we’ve been able to challenge the best. Aside Tottenham who by no means are a one-off are the only reliable ‘punt’ if you like of as assurance of Top 4.
The so-called Gulf between the previously or supposed ‘SKY 4’ to the Rest Of The Pack is growing close.
The key Point for me is that fans think New Manager and Quick Fixes, but that’s not the case and hasn’t been for the examples of Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea, which is why their own previously raised standards have dropped and other Teams have able to capitalize and show their own Worth.
Cheers

13th September 2019 at 8:05 pm #47435Not sure about the prospect of Ole losing his job.
Isn’t the ideal (so it seems), Poch?
Why? Well, purely down to his own experience and success or progress in managing Spurs.
Solksjaer to be fair to him, is new with no real Pedigree. United tried for Managers with Pedigree, but like Liverpool, it seemed to me from Circa 2013, they would be straight back on the Saddle and regain their habit in winning Trophies.
A reminder of Liverpool in my eyes circa 1991, Kenny left like Alex, and many of the squad players reached a point of leaving, because of their AGE.
Since then, there has been new Ideas implemented as far as Players, Tactics/Philosophy and Managers go, but nobody with 2 hands have grabbed something to hold onto and say “I am sticking with this”. There has been change after change.
This of course causes unsettlement as effectively, everyone surrounded don’t know whether they are coming or going.
Maybe Ole will need more than a Season. If Results don’t go his way though, I don’t know whether he’ll be the latest one unfortunately shown the door. Striving for Quick Fixes from my eyes is not the Manchester United way. They are not that type of club.

14th September 2019 at 8:28 am #47443AnonymousSean, while I agree with you regards to how things tend to go for this Utd, with Pogba and martial out injured, I’ve thrown a few Euro on Leicester. Only a few hundred though, not the house.

14th September 2019 at 10:57 am #47446I was on an early last Sat, but didn’t actually get home till 5 on the brink of the England game. I did feel the emptiness and boredom, but this week has flown.
Lucky to be available for our game 12:30, but will have to head to work, so will miss the City game, but it’s all good and glad to have normal service resuming 🙂
