Yep Spurs for 3rd looks pretty nailed on already I think, more due to a lack of credible competition than anything else. None of the sides below are good enough. Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester probably will battle it out for 4th IMO

2nd September 2019 at 9:54 am #46918I honestly read somewhere else Leicester and talk of Top 4, even to the point of the Title!
Far too early to be writing off anybody as it’s early doors. Arsenal will be hit and miss because of their defence, thought by them playing with 3 at the top does look promising and will give defences out there problems.
Maybe there might be a surprise at the end, but still too early to call in my view.

2nd September 2019 at 10:00 am #46919The good thing for Spurs is they already have their trips to City and Arsenal out of the way and got creditable draws.

2nd September 2019 at 10:29 am #46922AnonymousSteveo, can’t argue with your early post, definitely a game of 2 halves and I was glads to get a point in the end.
Sometime in the future( distant I hope ) Arsenal will get a couple of quality defenders in and have a shot at the title. It’s going to take another 6/7 games before Spurs can put out their strongest side but I was happy with the first half yesterday, totally different team from the Newcastle game.
Another plus for Spurs, it looks like we may just hold on to the clutch of players who could have moved on in this window, now we need to extend Eriksen , Toby, Jan and Rose’s contracts and buy a RB in January unless Foyth suddenly decides he can defend._____________________________

2nd September 2019 at 10:37 am #46924Albeit Pool and City, the pattern of results have so far been different every week for practically the rest the Prem – ones you wouldn’t expect.
It’s healthy in terms of competition and the league, but not too healthy when trying to win an Acca!

2nd September 2019 at 10:39 am #46925One a side note, just truly taken to Arsenal’s new Shirt for this season – a Replica of their 80s. All it needs is JVC and the old Adidas Trefoil Embroidery π

2nd September 2019 at 11:00 am #46928Wash your mouth out Bricky!! Playing nice on here with Buffy and our other Goonie cyber-chums is one thing, but openly wishing for the Goonies to buy some defenders?? Got to draw the line somewhere, cyber chum!! π
Pretty sure Jan, Toby and Wee Erik are all off next summer, regardless of what Levy slaps down in front of them. Hopefully they’ll keep their heads down and play 100% until then, and I’m pretty sure they all well, but I don’t think they’re going to be “first names” on the team sheet, especially in the second half of the season. A real shame for us Spuds, mind you, but we’re not going to see Spuds 2.0 until next year, going to be Spud 1,5 and bit…

2nd September 2019 at 12:27 pm #46931I do like what Unai’s trying to formulate plus his playing style, but it’s very hard at the moment in terms of trying to buy players at a quicker rate.
These days, Manager’s need a lot of Time and Transfer Windows.

2nd September 2019 at 12:39 pm #46932Arsenal, Man Utd & Chelsea are still some time off from competing for a title.
Spurs are the closest – theyβre a very good, well drilled, cohesive, effective side. They were deemed to have had a good summer window. But for me they just strengthened in areas they were already strong in. Itβs in attack I still think they lack that wow factor, which would allow them to take the next step up to Liverpool & Man City.

2nd September 2019 at 1:12 pm #46933Easier said than done, trying to improve a pretty decent 1st 11 (without spunking huge wedges!). We went for Dybla, which I think would have improved our attacking side of things, but we got Lo Cecil (not really seen enough to judge one way or the other!), N-Dumb to help in the Midfield, which certainly improved the Dinksy, Disco and Dier selection that we had… young Ryan to give Danny boy a kick up the proverbials (but he’s been injured so jury is out), the winger from Leeds who now can’t get a game there (so who bloody knows!)… and ended up with no RB’s!!
Keeping Jan, Toby and Erik was the best bit of bussiness.. maybe they’ll sign new contracts, maybe they’ll play out their skins as they’re all looking for super-duper deals next year… who knows?? I’m pretty happy over all, happy that the window is about to close, happy with a couple of unexpected points at City and the Goonies (still bloody annoyed about Castle!) and we always start slow anyway… I’m not that upset about things… once the games come a bit thicker and faster, I think we’ll be alright…

2nd September 2019 at 2:44 pm #46939Just as bad, cyber chum!! π
But it was a good game, 2 teams trying to go for it… and both teams inches away from getting a third!!
Something else that hasn’t been mentioned with regards to that match, I thought the ref had a pretty decent game too. He probably could have dished out a few more yellows (and subsequently reds!) but I think he did well, letting a lot go for both sides… a more “pedantic” ref could have finished that 9-a-side! Plenty of little nibbles and things from both sides…
Still don’t understand why Poncho plays Lamamelea and left Lucas on the bench, if we’ve played a team so far this season who would have suited Lucas’s strengths, it was the goonies with all the space and gaps they were leaving…

Then telling me to stick my post where the sun dont shine. because I say we see things differently. No wonder what used to be a good site has died a death theres only about five people left posting on the Chelsea page… and now your here doing the same thing to a fellow fan?!?!?!?!
You’re like Dennis wise, he could have a fight with an empty room.

2nd September 2019 at 4:31 pm #46942Nah, you are out of order 442 and you are the one engaging in one upmanship which is very ironic considering your earlier protests, clear as day if you follow our posts from yours at 11:10am
I clearly didnt tell you to shove your post, I told you to shove one paragraph, the one in which you said your behaviour on here was nothing to do with a grudge when evidently it is, it has to be as all I had done up to that point is argue the points YOU BROUGHT UP about OUR club, you decided to get personal at 4:52pm and and I remained civil up until that one para I told you to shove and stand by that.
Now, you quickly turned the debate away from the points you yourself raised, but just to clarify, these are the points I chose to debate
1) You claimed the arguments from all chelsea fans about playing kante deeper were stupid, I simply argued they were not and why, giving currently he is the only mid we have that can really defend.
2) You argued we should ditch the “antiquated” 4231, when we havent even been playing it. we have been playing sarri’s 433 but without the “sarriball” and safety in possession, we are too direct leading to too many turnovers which is leaving us far more open than when we played the 433 under sarri but with different tactics. We need to remedy this, and as above its fine if you dont see kante deeper as the solution, but if you think the suggestion is stupid surely you have a better alternative?
3) You were talking about dyche as an alternative to lamps, I thought it was funny that 442 kick and rush excites you but 4231 is “antiquated”, and made a quip abut it, thats just banter.
4) You claimed chelsea fans were fickle and will be wanting lamps out by xmas, I do take exception to that as a) if anyone generalised about another set of fans like that it would clearly be out of order, and b) the match going chelsea fans arent actually that fickle, and no more than most fans of top clubs anyway. It was a poor comment but you a free to say it, no probs there. But as free as you are to say it, I am free to question you.
Like I said 442, my posts on this have been fine, feel free to engage or dont engage, but you cant keep posting as you are all the while claiming I am the issue here, its not on mate. I have taken the time to read things back and check myself here, and I dont think I am out of order at all.
All the best.

2nd September 2019 at 5:05 pm #46943Banjo, as jose was saying, spurs best business over the last few years wasnt just keeping the best players, it was keeping them happy and committed. I think the transfer window deadlines have unsettled spurs more than most because of the quality and importance of the players unsettled. I do hope for you that now its done and your squad is intact they all pull together again. Signs were positive yesterday I thought and I still think spurs are the best of the rest. Its amazing how much damage it can do to squad morale and chemistry when just one or two players are unsettled.
