1st September 2019 at 12:44 pm #46845Lucky, agree about Rafa and Nine also mentioned at the time it was the logical *footballing* choice but with many of the match going fans there didn’t seem much love there.
From Chelsea’s point of view I think Lampard is somewhat of a free hit this season – if it goes well, it’s a bonus. If not, then the youth still get experience and they can then give a more established man a hefty transfer budget next summer. But for Lampard, if it doesn’t go so well, what for him? He’ll then have to take a step down to step forward again which isn’t ideal.

1st September 2019 at 12:46 pm #46846Lampard needs more experience at this leve He will be given at least this season bg Abramovic.
Quite like to see one window when no team has transfers except in an emergency eg goal keeper or 6m+ injury like Sane. It woul also make clubs finances a lot better and give youngsters a bit more chance…..like Chelsea now_____________________________

1st September 2019 at 12:49 pm #46847Yeah was chatting with nine about it on other site as it was all developing. If we can finish top 6, bed in the youngsters, then lamps will be given another season and as you say a hefty budget. If we finish below 6th I am not sure he will be retained but like you said at least we would have given our best young prospects a season to prove if they have what it takes. Looking very good for mount and tammy. Ruben and hudson-odoi will be back soon, tomori and james promising also. Gilmour is far to raw to be given time though and the decision to bring like for like on instead of bringing on christensen with a bit more experience and trying to shut up shop yesterday in retrospect looks a big mistake.

1st September 2019 at 1:02 pm #46849AnonymousMikus, fair call. Didn’t think of it like that.
Lucky… 433, 4231, doesn’t matter, we don’t have the players to pull off either game plan as yet, as demonstrated by the porous defence.
433 will work when Kanté/Ruben/ cho are back and fit.

1st September 2019 at 1:09 pm #46850442, it may work mate, but if kante is in opposition 3rd when the oppo counter, and jorginho is on his own in front of back 4, our defence will continue to be as porous and we will need 3 goals a game to win.
I agree we dont have the squad to be successful in any system, but that is pointless to think about now as we can do nothing about it. We have to concentrate on making the most with what we currently have which is why I think fully utilising kante’s defensive abilities when fit is a priority, even if it means he cant get forward enough, as I do not see anyone else in the team that even comes close to him as an option to protect the back 4. You do agree the back four needs more protection right?
btw, 4231 antiquated? Is that why you are so keen to bring in dyche and his revolutionary 442 kick and rush tactics? 🙂

1st September 2019 at 1:16 pm #46851AnonymousNot looking forward to the North London Derby, I can’t see Spurs getting a point today and feel Arsenal will have too much going forward for our defence to cope with
Poch needs to sort out his team selection now the European window is closing and pick the best X1 which means starting with Jan and Christian ._____________________________

1st September 2019 at 1:18 pm #4685250/50 for me bricky, I still thinks spurs have the better team over all. no form or confidence going in to a derby is not ideal, but derbies are not just any other game and form seems to play less of a factor.
As a neutral here I am looking forward to it.

1st September 2019 at 1:34 pm #46853Deschamps opinion 442
““I saw that his coach preferred to see him in a more offensive position because he has a player, Jorginho, who plays in this position a little lower. [But] when he is with me in the French national team, he has a great importance in this lower position. He is very important defensively and in the organisation of the game.”
From this link, worth a read, https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2019/2/20/18232797/kante-remains-of-great-importance-to-france-as-defensive-midfielder

1st September 2019 at 2:04 pm #46854AnonymousLucky… that French team is brutal. Pogba Kante Together destroy most teams, as we know how good pogba is up the pitch. But when Kanté plays against pogba, it’s like watching Ashley Cole and Ronaldo. Kanté puts him in his pocket.
There is nothing we can do but go through the growing pains of building a side. The last time we did that was under ranieri imo. That was painful too but look what happened…
It’s a derby day. Thinking we’ll be seeing two draws today…

1st September 2019 at 2:29 pm #46855But similar to us 442 they are stacked with attacking mids but dont have any one better than kante to play the most defensive role, thats why I dont think it is stupid to argue for us to do the same

1st September 2019 at 4:02 pm #46859of course no probs 442, I was only debating your claim that the arguments for playing kante deeper are stupid, in your different way of seeing the game what is your suggestion on how we tighten up defensively with what we have?

1st September 2019 at 4:04 pm #46861Good win for Everton.
I bet Wolves secretly wish they were not in the Europa League.Newbalance: How can we have an easier fixture list? We all play the same teams? Just in a different order………only joking.. know what you mean but it doesnt always work out as you think.
Lucky when I said Burnley were disappointing I expected them to do better whoever they were playing. They will need to improve or they could be in difficulties.

1st September 2019 at 4:06 pm #46862So, Jan The Man and Wee Erik both starting for Spuds, I would have perhaps had Ali start instead of Lammalelea, betting all my Monster Munch we’ll see that “swap” at some stage of the game. Still think we’re due a proper performance from the boys, and today wouldn’t be the worst day to do it!!

1st September 2019 at 4:10 pm #46864If you ask Pep or Mr Klopp if there are any easy fixtures I think I know what the answer would be. Complacency will not be allowed by any manager no matter who they are playing. The minute you start thinking this should be “easy” you will drop points. It happened to us against Crystal Palace and Newcastle and cost us the games

1st September 2019 at 4:22 pm #46866Adlab,
generally I was just joking too 🙂
Just a slight worry though on December, we’ll be facing West Ham and Leicester.
It’s better both of us in the meantime rack up as many points as possible. Could be very close like last season.
Cheers
