Mav top strikers ARE selfish. They need to be.
So four games in. Two at home two away.
Who is your money on:
1 To go down
2 Top four
3. To win the league. For me again it will be City or Liverpool
Going down
Norwich, Watford and ??.
Top four. City, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal_____________________________

31st August 2019 at 8:36 pm #46828Yeah amazing how quick the league is taking the same shape as last season already. The top 2 almost flawless, the next bunch all incredibly inconsistent.
Really starting to become like the Scottish league used to be.

31st August 2019 at 11:53 pm #46831Surprised with that Burnley result, I expected a much tighter game than that. Did we dominate like the score line suggests or was it tighter than that. I read Chelsea are playing quite a few youngsters so that might make it a tough season or 2 for them, I actually had them as a top 4 team this season. I thought manu would be going a bit better as well. That said itβs still early & they may well click into gear. No other real surprises with city destroying their opposition as usual & an interesting game coming up tonight (Oz time that is). Is something going on behind the scenes at spurs, I heard a whisper thereβs a bit of unrest there.
Take care all, talk soon._____________________________

1st September 2019 at 12:03 am #46833What has been our strengths has now become our weakness. and I’m wondering why? we had been a club who used to pride themselves with their defensive solidity. but this defence we have seems to be too weak mentally. and Lampard needs to be ruthless with them. I couldn’t come to terms with how we have lost a two-goal lead at home to a newly promoted team. I was very angry, and it took hours for me to digest and have the calmness to write a post. mostly when I’m angary I stay away from posting. until I’m calm enough, and it took 6-7 hours. we seem to be missing Kante very much. when we get him and Rudger back, we will see what may happen. today both Zouma and Tomori were total strangers to each other. and I was disappointed Azpi as our most senior defender on the pitch and our captain didn’t talk to them to calm them. how I miss JT? I’m hoping a piece of good news after the international break.
On the positive side, our striker seems to be doing the business. if he keeps on his current form, we will be doing fine to clinch a top 6 place. because we are in the middle of a rebuilding process. once again, Willian who is one of my favourite players seems to be annoying me. this is the second game in which has was introduced to help the team but had the opposite effect. I wonder what is going in his mind?. Pulsic needs to be rested. he seems to be running on an empty vessel now. while I’m disappointed with the state of our defence, one member whom I’m happy with is Emerson. he seems to have cemented his place.

1st September 2019 at 8:48 am #46834Just saw the highlights show from yesterday’s games, all I can say if Premiership managers are all full of shit, and VAR did not do it selfs any favours what so ever. It seemed to miss more than a few “incidents”, and I just saw the highlights, I wonder what they didn’t show!

1st September 2019 at 9:48 am #46835Saw the Mane incident. This is his 3rd season with us, and never in my life seen him irate as he was yesterday. Yes Salah is wonderful, e.g. his solo last week, but when there’s a blatantly obvious square ball to be played…..

1st September 2019 at 11:10 am #46836AnonymousMikus… He would have us very well drilled. I think your skepticism about him not being good enough to manage top top players… It’s exactly what clubs think too and why English managers perhaps don’t get the chances.
I reckon he could manage a united or Chelsea in transition and develop something. From what I heard a couple years ago about Dyche, if you dont fit his all action running system, you wont last at Burnley. But then, for a club of its stature, I think proof is in the pudding.
Bournemouth face a conundrum too. Howe needs a new challenge with different and better players, but Bournemouth is his club and he’s signed everyone. He just has no clue on selecting a keeper. Again, a manager who needs a project. He would have been great at Chelsea or Newcastle etc as they need developing and he’s one of the best at doing that given Bournemouth rise. Could see him go to Tottenham after poch.
I’d have had both Dyche and Howe in ahead of Lamps as I thought it was far too early for him in his career. I just hope fans give Lampard time because there is a very creative attacking minded manager there… I also think he needs to ditch zonal marking and the antiquated 4231. Its just going to be difficult watching Chelsea this year as the young players develop. It’s almost like going back 25 years watching this team when we used to have to throw in the likes of the youth teamers of Newtonn, David Lee’s Andy Myers type characters to supplement the superstars like the vialli’s and Gullits.
Given how fickle Chelsea fans are over the last decade. I’ll give Lampard until January before dissent pours down from the stands. Given that theyre all wanting Kante to play defensively, its the same stupid arguments from last season carrying on into this one. Kant has become an all round midfielder (see his performance against Liverpool where he owned three of their players for 90 mins) is a much better player defending up the park than in front of a back four. Sari saw it but the fans cant. Anyhow, we’re relegation form at the minute and the enjoyment for me will come from seeing the young players develop under Frank. League position is immaterial so long as we avoid relegation imo. Going to enjoy watching City and Liverpool play and hope spurs, united arsenal can take points off them, after that.. Im going to see how Brendon Rodgers sets up Leicester because on current form they’ll be in the top four end of season.
Great start to the season really, lots to love about it..
Who has scored the best goal of the season so far?

1st September 2019 at 12:13 pm #46838442, the problem is that when we lose possession we only have jorginho in front of back 4 and just like last year if you beat our front press you are at us, its just as kante isnt fit it is a lot easier to beat our front press, and our defence is very raw and inexperienced without rudiger.
I dont think it is a stupid argument at all to believe that kante should be closer to jorginho when we lose the ball as he is the one and only midfielder chelsea have that can actually defend. Why then is it “stupid” in this case to think it best that the best defensive mid we have actually plays defensive mid? I am not saying he and jorginho need to hold hands and he can never pass the half way line, but surely we need achieve a balance here.
My personal opinion is that our full backs are getting caught out often as they get forward a lot. If we had two players sitting centrally we could protect ourselves more when doing this as one can go wide to cover full back on counters and the other can stay centrally, as it is we are getting pulled all over the place with our outside centre mids and full backs playing so offensively.
If we had fernandinho instead of jorginho, I would totally agree that it is best to allow kante to push right up the field as of course we could rely of fernandinho to stop counter attacks (even if through fouling π ) but we dont and its about making the most of what we have imo.
We cant keep on needing to score 3 to win a game, lamps needs to tighten up with what we have, if you have any ideas on how to do this other than giving the job to dyche, while simultaneously criticising chelsea fans for their “imminent” turn on lamps, then please let me know.
BTW have you even watched chelsea this year? We played 4231 once against utd, it has been 433 since. Why are you suggesting we ditch a formation we are not even playing?

1st September 2019 at 12:27 pm #46839Sorry Lucky, you cannot have Fernandinho, he is too valuable to us. I disagree about the fouling bit as well, no more than any other midfielder in that position but his football sense and positioning wins the ball more often than not. The media gave him that title like they do with so many players and it has stuck with him last few seasons…it will not bother him Our midfield is solid with him in position, why we ever went after Jorghino I do not know, why we went after Maguire I do not know…then I know nothing about how jigsaws are put together

1st September 2019 at 12:32 pm #46840lol Brian, I know mate.
The reason I put a smiley there mate is I do not think fernandinho is a cheat or anything like that. I think he is the bees knees in his role and If he where a chelsea player I would applaud every professional foul he makes, they are clever and not dangerous. He is no worse than any other mid in that respect you are spot on, he is better and cleverer in every respect.

1st September 2019 at 12:33 pm #46841442, the problem for managers like Dyche is that they stay at their clubs too long for me as they obviously have a safe job by keeping their club safe on a limited budget. One can sympathise with that from a job security point of view. But what they have to do in my opinion is go abroad if theyβre ambitious and take up jobs there which will then prove if they have what it takes – all the top managers have worked in several different countries and the more you prove yourself adaptable, the more you prove yourself attractive to the bigger clubs. A classic example of this was Moyes, who stayed at Everton for far too long, so that he was too into his comfort zone so by the time he did get a bigger job, he was like a fish out of water. He just wasnβt ambitious enough earlier in his career, and by the time he did choose to go abroad, it was too little too late.
Conversely Lampard probably jumped too quickly to Chelsea as just one season in the championship just isnβt enough experience in my opinion. He probably should have turned down Chelsea and worked at his trade as tempting as Chelsea were.
I think one manager to look out for in years to come will be Xabi Alonso, currently managing the Real Madrid youth team/reserves I think. He has a deep understanding of the game and I can see him becoming a top top manager.

1st September 2019 at 12:37 pm #46842Mikus, my shout was rafa as the safest bet, even when rumours of lamps started. When the rumours turned to reality you cant help getting behind a legend even while being completely aware that he may not have the experience required. One things for sure, him and the younger players are getting some experience now π

1st September 2019 at 12:40 pm #46843Easy win for Liverpool. Burnley were very disappointing. Expected a better showing.
Just watching Rangers v Celtic. As they are they would be lucky to be halfway in the EPL._____________________________
