3rd September 2023 at 8:13 am #209165Roy Keane, Steven Gerrard and Vincent Kompany. All incredible captains and winners. Arguably 3 of the greatest the league has seen. All had great first spells in management (Sunderland, Rangers and Burnley). Kompany showing that he’s very much following the same trend the other 2 did though. It’s almost as though the sheer fact of who they are is enough to get their teams on board and instill a sense of wanting to run through brick walls for the manager. That desire does seem to have a limit though, as we’re now seeing again.

3rd September 2023 at 8:16 am #209166Gabby Agbonlahor needs adding to that list Sean. No idea how that guy gets employed. Absolutely no idea.

3rd September 2023 at 8:23 am #209167You look around that Chelsea side and wonder where that billion pounds has gone. It’s not a side that screams quality. So much money spent and you’re playing a CB who turns 39 soon and Jackson up top. There really are so many gaps still.

3rd September 2023 at 8:25 am #209168Sean, we are playing a sort of 4231.
People keep thinking it’s wingback system but chilwell is actually playing left wing mate. Mudryk should be playing there but obviously poch doesn’t trust him yet.
We scored 38 league goals last season, 1 per game. This year so far its 5 in 4. Its not anywhere near good enough and it will very likely cost us top 4.

3rd September 2023 at 8:27 am #209169Nkunku is a huge miss.
Jackson I will support for 90 minutes week in week out, that miss was bad but seen many a good player do similar.

3rd September 2023 at 8:38 am #209170I’m also still convinced that De Zerbi will eventually be the manager of this Chelsea side. I hope not but I think that’s just a matter of time.

3rd September 2023 at 9:26 am #209171Ah Ed, gabby is number one mate lol
Heβs surely just on a wind up
Jackson looks good lucky. Big unit but fast.
Ah ok lucky so coihil at left back? Enzo as ten? Strange one
I agree with Ed, few players injured but the attacking players still arenβt there for the money spent
Thisgo silva is one of the best of the most the best cb for last 10/15 years. Absolutely quality but he canβt go on forever

3rd September 2023 at 9:29 am #209172Look at how many players konpant had signed Ed? Itβs maddness as half wonβt play
Itβs like forest. It did work for forest last season but itβs just many players in

3rd September 2023 at 10:01 am #209173Yeah Sean, nkunku should be the 10 supporting Jackson and they really struck up a good partnership pre season that I was very excited to see in prem.

3rd September 2023 at 10:09 am #2091755 live is still good and I quite like the guys on there. Talksport, I don’t bother with that much, but Sky I try and stay off. Even worse now that that woman on there has a regular slot. They seem to slate teams badly who have had an off day or haven’t played to their potential, ala Newcastle yesterday. Far too critical.
It’s a game of football at the end of the day. How far in can you analyze.
Gladfully, I’ll be streaming the Liverpool game shown from elsewhere. I’m not going through another season seeing the same faces and listening to the same rubbish.

3rd September 2023 at 11:01 am #209177The concern Iβd have for Chelsea, following on from the other thread, is that by giving all these players big lucrative contracts I think theyβre arguably making them quite powerful at the club. And the shear number of the players signed is going to be hard to manage for the manager.
Also, whilst Poch is a tactically astute manager who makes teams quite solid, I donβt think his teams have tended to be expressive enough up top, which given Chelseaβs lack of options up there, adds another concern.
So I share Edβs thoughts that someone else may well come in at some point, though the club needs to be careful it doesnβt become a poisonous chalice for prospective managers.
Compare and contrast Postecoglou, who is arguably having more impact at Spurs in a few months than others have had over a much longer time.

What do you think of the report that the Glazers aren’t going to sell?

3rd September 2023 at 12:37 pm #209181The more I look at the Ake goal the more ludicrous it is . If that’s not interfering with play what is.

3rd September 2023 at 1:08 pm #209182Adlab, there is something coming we don’t know about bud that is going to increase value of clubs across the board.
It’s why glazers holding on and Boehly is investing so heavily imo.
It’s just my feeling.

3rd September 2023 at 1:12 pm #209183Don’t like to say it being a Rangers fan, but VAR got that call correct. It was a foul that led to the goal. We need officials strong enough to be able to take their time, study the footage and make a bold decision.
Well taken goal too by Kyogo.

3rd September 2023 at 1:15 pm #209184I knew Gomez would be an insert today with Matip. I’m confident they will work well, but my doubts as always lie with Trent and discipline/structure; whether or not the shape can be sustained for 90 minutes.
Villa don’t have good recent history on us at Anfield, but they will surely press and try and expose our flanks.
Nunez starts in 4-3-3. That is as strong as it can be with Salah and Luis Diaz. This is our new found front 3.
