I don’t mind Richards as him and Keane often have some good debates but he’s not particularly insightful.

3rd September 2023 at 8:45 pm #209290One normal day of Manchester United news. That’s all we ask. Sancho after Ten Hag suggesting he might not be performing well enough in training when asked why he wasn’t involved today. Not good. Ten Hag is pretty ruthless with things like this as we’ve seen before. If he freezes him out, he better hope the players pick Ten Hag’s side or he’s got a long season ahead

3rd September 2023 at 8:57 pm #209291Bloody hell Ed, he needs to wind his neck in mate.
utd from top to bottom want nothing more than for sancho to prove everyone wrong and its totally down to him.
I don’t think ten haag would lie here so it seems Sancho is a little delusional.

3rd September 2023 at 9:14 pm #209292Thing is though Lucky, the scouting of attacking players has still been quite poor. Chelsea in recent years have spent quite big on Lukaku, Werner, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic, Morata, Batshuayi. In fact I’d say you have to go as far back as Diego Costa in terms of finding the last top top striker you had. And it’s no surprise that’s the last time Chelsea won the league. And you could probably throw the same thing at Man Utd. The last top striker they bought at the peak of their powers was probably Van Persie. And again, that’s the last time they won the league. Might say the same thing with Arsenal last winning the league with Henry.
Is it more FFP having an impact in trying to either bring in a younger prospect or a top striker in their twilight years?

3rd September 2023 at 9:20 pm #209294Yeah, Lucky it just made me wonder the point of Arsenal signing Raya from Brentford.

3rd September 2023 at 9:24 pm #209295Problem is Ed, I don’t think the players are doing what Ten-Hag wants them to do. The one guy that can bring synergy spends more time moaning. I do like Martinez and Casemiro. They are gutsy and spirited.

3rd September 2023 at 9:45 pm #209296Mikus, I totally agree with needing a top striker and that we have failed to get an elite striker since Costa. Won’t argue that recruitment has been poor up top either.
Like I said though it’s easy to say all that but actually recruiting one of the elite few that could fit the profile is much harder.
Morata, Lukaku, Werner were bad signings in retrospect but let’s not pretend they didn’t look like good shouts at the time. Some work but most don’t… that’s elite level in any sport.

4th September 2023 at 6:09 am #209300Don’t quite get all the “love” for Pool so far, if I’m honest, drew against a very, average Jammy Todgers, beat a less than average Bournemouth, had a “game of the century” against the Bone Saw Boyz (and they won’t be doing that every week!), and beat a Villa Team who we all thought would be “better”… sure, 10 points on the board, but I’m not seeing anything that would suggest they’re currently the “best of the rest”…
Obviously, 34 games to go, but I wouldn’t be putting my Monster Munch on them finishing 2nd just yet.

4th September 2023 at 7:54 am #209301Ye totally agree banjo was Yesterday was our best 90 mins in ages. It was consistently good. Mac and dzobo were excellent but itβs such early days. Villa played into our hands with no press and a high line.
Gomez was excellent and we need that kind of performance from him consistently now
Wr are going for top 4. Nothing else. No one is challenging city
Disagree about our fixtures though banjo. Chelseaand Newcastle be to hard away games for anyone. We have ten points, a whole new midfield etc so itβs an excellent start for us but nothing to get carried away about

4th September 2023 at 7:59 am #209303Chucks, but what would you have said if we lost to Chelsea, drew to Bournemouth, lost to Newcastle, and on another day, held by Villa?
The knives would have been out by many quarters including Liverpool supporters; myself included. I’m happy with what we’ve delivered so far and it’s better than a slow start.
My only slight anxiousness is playing 12:30 away from home straight after an International Break. I think Gomez and Matip worked well together yesterday. Van Dijk may be slowing us down.

4th September 2023 at 8:50 am #209307Nil, I certainly wouldn’t be saying you lot are the “best of the rest”, that’s for sure! π
Not knocking Pool, just not seeing “evidence” that you lot are a shoe-in for 2nd that some are saying, that’s all. ADSC are the only “shoe-in” this season, right now, everything else is up for grabs, depending on who can get themselves up and running first…

4th September 2023 at 9:02 am #209308Donβt get sancho. Utd supported him last season when he was going through a tough time. There is no fight in him. Heβs not someone you would want in your team at all. Coward on the pitch.
You then have Anthony who has to be one of the most frustrating players in a utd shirt but at least he tries. San I just waltzβs around. Poor from him and just opens up a lot of shite utd donβt need

4th September 2023 at 9:07 am #209309Banjo, City won 5 in 6 league titles, they only time they didn’t it was because of pool.
Pool are 15 unbeaten in the league going back to last season, they have recruited two absolute ballers in midfield and have goals all across the front line with Salah still one of the very best in the world.
I wouldnt say they are a shoe in for anything, but again, imo, if anyone can bear city to the title, it is klopp and pool.
