I guess the Palace result is kinda good for Liverpool. It gives Utd some hope that todays awful result hasn’t had as bad an effect as it might have and to get it together against City. Still, I’m just not sure how much of a threat they could hope to be in that match. All Liverpool can do though is keep winning. Keep that pressure on City. We can’t do more than that.

21st April 2019 at 5:59 pm #38456Phew, can relaaax! π
Only for the Penalty, we were made to sweat for those 3 points. Don’t think the dry surface helped the flow of the game which obviously suited Cardiff, but made the breakthrough in the second half thanks to Gini.
No doubt about the Penalty – was actually surprised Atkinson awarded it.
Back on top 27-7 and still ONLY lost 1.
Maybe United’s heavy defeat could be a blessing in disguise as there’s no way they’ll want to lose 2 on the bounce and at Old Trafford against their neighbours, not to mention more importantly in light of Arsenal’s uncharacteristic loss to Palace at the Emirates, take the opportunity to secure a place in the Champions League.

21st April 2019 at 6:03 pm #38457AnonymousAlisson was poor today. He’ll have to do better than that in the coming matches.

21st April 2019 at 6:07 pm #38458Gini commented that the ref would of blown for a foul on Alisson if that header went in.

Mate, you’re getting a bit mad with this, do not understand one little bit how Arsenal losing to Palace helps LionPool by assisting YooUtd against City, clutching at straws… π
Eddy… not the worst run-in, now City are out the way, and three of the four are at our new shiny spaceship too… we’re probably favourites, considering YooUtd have City/Chelski in their next two games, and the Goonies have 3 of 4 away from home (and their away form is questionable at least!)… but we did put the Spudz in Spudzy… π

21st April 2019 at 6:13 pm #384609-Did you see United today against Everton mate? Even Watfjord deserve a CL place more than United.

21st April 2019 at 6:19 pm #38461You certainly did Chucky! Yeah too hard to call but I’m pretty sure you’re safe. As Nine suggests, none of the other 3 really deserve it this season. I actually think we’ll go into free fall now and will get spanked by City and then lose at home to Chelsea.
If we finish the season absolutely dreadfully, it will put all sorts of question marks on our next move. Talk about a dilemma for the board. How do you sack a manager weeks after announcing him as permanent boss. On the other hand, how can you afford to keep a manager at such a crucial crossroads for the club and a time where a squad rebuild is required?
I have to say, massive credit to Liverpool for sticking on City’s tail. I’m sure City will do enough to win the league but to be anywhere near this City side for so long is very impressive.

21st April 2019 at 6:23 pm #38462Mak, as I said earlier I didn’t see the United game as I was out lunching and enjoying the sunshine and a few drinks.
Personally I don’t think any of the 3 teams chasing the 4th placed spot deserve a CL place but one of them will get there and Spurs will take 3rd place imo and deservedly so.
Watford have been playing some nice football but they are 17 points behind Arsenal and Chelsea so I think it’s difficult to make a real case for them but I get where you’re coming from.

21st April 2019 at 6:30 pm #38465Don’t dis the Watfjord…
I think this weeks fixtures are going to be really telling, we’re at home to Brighton, then there’s the Manc Derby, with the Goonies playing a tricky away game at Wolves…

Don’t make me larff… “Oh, it’s a Tuesday and I’m wearing my lucky socks so as long as I stir my tea anticlockwise with my left hand and Leyton Orient are playing at home, then I’m 42% optimistic Crystal Place will not be relgated… which means LinoPool will beat Oxfam or something…” π

21st April 2019 at 6:34 pm #38467Chelsea could go 5 points clear of United plus a superior goal difference if they can beat Burnley tomorrow night that might be tough to pull back at this stage of the season. Could come down to the game at OT next Sunday between the two.

21st April 2019 at 6:34 pm #38468Weirdly, but fact, as far as League form goes, United have lost ONLY 1 game at Old Trafford all season and that was to Tottenham.
And Arsenal and Tottenham losses means an added incentive for Chelsea and United. United know they can’t afford to spurn an opportunity and lose out on CL football.
They may not understandably want Liverpool to win it, but they could well spoil City’s own Title chances and if all that isn’t enough, just play for pure pride. Old Trafford atmosphere will be rocking and United need to get out of the blocks quick and get their noses in front.
That will really add to the pressure.

21st April 2019 at 6:39 pm #38470Beejay, you sir are bouncing a little too much lol! π You do realise Arsenal are a competitor for a Top 4 place – 2 in which are already fixed by City and Liverpool leaving you with 2 and 4 teams fighting for those places!

21st April 2019 at 6:48 pm #38472Just seen the highlights from the Everton v United game. Richarlison goal was a lovely goal but was it a high foot and dangerous play the next two were big hits the first of which De Gea has to hold his hand up to.
Ole talking about the days of SAF and Giggsy, Beck’s and Neville etc he’s living in the past he doesn’t have those players and football in the PL has changed considerably.
Having said that Everton away after Barca away was never going to be an easy game for anyone.
