23rd April 2019 at 11:33 am #38599Whoever wins the league..wins.
But I hope we win for ONE main reason. To stick it up the annoying, horrible Liverpool Echo and its “experts”. Never has there been such awful biased rubbish. Not even in the MUEN._____________________________

23rd April 2019 at 1:12 pm #38607AnonymousDo you lads see this game as being the title decider?
I’m on the fence, as it’s a huge derby, late on.. last top 6 team for City. The on the other side of that there are Burnley and Leicester, who I think will provide a better challenge to City.
Then of course there’s the fact that the pressure instantly flips off City and onto Liverpool, if Utd take points off them. Then Liverpool fans remember how Klopp’s record against teams in the bottom 3 is actually not that great. Maybe Newcastle and Watford look a lot more difficult then.
So ya, I know we’re almost out of runway here with regards to chances to get ahead of City but I don’t think the game is quite as decisive as it might appear.

23rd April 2019 at 1:31 pm #38611Anonymous**** it. Fabinho misses Huddersfield with Concussion.
I made the argument on TT that we should consider resting a few. You might say it’s risky but this is our last chance of doing that and as long as the lads were on the bench to come on if needed… Well anyway, no Fabinho kinda limits us there as we’re just not as good when he’s not playing.
I’d start Gomez though, 100%. matip has been really good and if anything, it’s just a good idea to keep him fresh. Then the game after maybe play Gomez for Trent, something like that.
What do you lads think? Go all out for the result and take people off then or rest and only bring on if needed? Obviously the later is better for resting but the former is maybe risky. 1 or 2 shouldn’t hurt though?
Just looking at Barca and the remaining 2 PL matches after, where there’s absolutely no chance of anything but best available sides.

23rd April 2019 at 1:41 pm #38614Mak, “Rafa will be Chelsea manager next season I’d say.” Really?
I would have him back but even if Sarri goes I think it’s unlikely.

23rd April 2019 at 1:49 pm #38616AnonymousThere’s a shortage of quality managers out there Nine. If ye don’t go for him soon, some other big club will.

23rd April 2019 at 1:49 pm #38617Adlab, still more questions than answers mate personally I think Sarri is probably a goner at the end of the Season whether he succeeds in delivering a CL place or not he doesn’t look like the right fit for a number of reasons with some of the defeats being totally unacceptable.
But Chelsea’s problems go deeper than just Sarri imo.

23rd April 2019 at 1:52 pm #38618Mak, if Sarri goes I don’t think we will go for Rafa mate we’ve both been there and done that and he wouldn’t be a popular appointment with a large slice of the match going fans.

23rd April 2019 at 1:56 pm #38619AnonymousChelsea fans still don’t like him? haha ok fair enough, your/their funeral. It’ll be tough to find someone to come in and take a 2 window ban. Rafa has essentially had this at Newcastle already, so he’s perfect! 😀
Agree with you regards Sarri being a goner and also that Chelsea’s problems go deeper. I’ve gone off about this before so I will save you the bother on it again but ya, Sarri has got to go. What a terrible culture fit.
Do you think there’s any chance of keeping Hazard? I mean, with no ability to replace him, it’s gonna hurt. Perhaps they could double his wages and promise a sale after? He’s 29 though isn’t he? he’s already a little past his prime sale price.

23rd April 2019 at 2:17 pm #38622Mak, it didn’t go well last time mate and even if Chelsea wanted Rafa I doubt he would come back because of that. I would happily take him back but there’s too much history and too much was said to heal the rifts.
You’re right if there’s a two window ban it would rule out a number of candidates but I think that once FIFA confirm the ban Chelsea will definitely appeal to CAS and precedent there suggests that the ban will be suspended this Summer until that appeal is fully heard which then would allow Chelsea to be very active this Summer.
I think it’s more likely that Hazard will go but we’ll see we do have Pulisic to come in in the Summer and even if the ban holds up and I think it’s more likely that it won’t at least for this Summer we have players like Mount, Zouma, Reece Jones and Abraham’s etc that we can bring back from loan to strengthen the squad.
Even without a transfer ban without we signed Messi it would be impossible to replace Hazard though.

23rd April 2019 at 2:57 pm #38626AnonymousAhhh I’d forgotten about ye lads purchasing Pulisic! That could be absolutely huge for ye under the circumstances. Ya though, very good chance that the ban gets delayed I’d say too.

23rd April 2019 at 3:49 pm #38629This whole ban thing is quite a conundrum…
On one hand, if clubs are guilty then they should be punished (same for my club!), but on the other hand, the punishment should be the same for all clubs, so if other clubs have had it deferred, then so should Chelsea (even if it is Chelsea! 🙂 ).
But on my other hand, as I’m part octopus, my Spuds have proven that not signing a player for two transfer windows doesn’t actually cause that much in the way of “punishment”… (granted, not the same for all clubs!)
And on my final hand, deferring the ban to give clubs the chance to “stock-up” before the “punishment” begins, pretty much makes it a pointless “punishment” (regardless of club). Might as well ban ketchup from their canteens, or worst still, ban their players from playing “Fortnite”…

23rd April 2019 at 4:15 pm #38630Chucky, only FIFA have denied the suspending of the ban subject to appeal despite Real,Barca and Atletico had their bans suspended subject to appeal.
It’s unlikely that CAS will deny the ban being suspended subject to the appeal imo I’m not sure of the ins and outs of it all but Chelsea are adamant they’ve done nothing wrong and a lot of the charges have already been dropped and clearly for the FA to be found guilty too of whatever Chelsea did they did it seemingly with the full co operation of the FA which you would assume kept everything onside in their view.
Whilst I understand what you’re saying past precedent suggests that CAS will suspend the ban until Chelsea’s appeal is heard and should Chelsea be serving a punishment before having the right to appeal that punishment whoever the Club may be that seems more than a tad harsh to me but one way or another we will know fairly soon and will have to get on with it either way.
I’m sure Chelsea have a plan A of who they would like to buy to strengthen the team and squad which would be wider than usual should a ban eventually be implemented and a plan B of who they would bring back from loan to strengthen the squad and team should an appeal be denied.
But I would be surprised if it was denied by CAS.

23rd April 2019 at 4:25 pm #38633Wasn’t having a pop at Chelsea, cyber chum, more of a pop at the system… I’m sure my club is just as guilty at the end of the day. Just seems silly to have a punishment which is then watered down so it’s not really a punishment at all. I reckon the only people who support this nonsense are the lawyers who probably make millions out of it! 🙂
