999 – after my dig at those Chelsea knobs in Prague last week, I’m happy to say the Chelsea fans were exemplary at Anfield yesterday, both during the silence for the 96, and also with a complete lack of racist abuse as far as I could tell. Credit where credit is due.
RIP the 96
A difficult day today when I look back 30 years to when I was a young man, and my pal and I set out to watch the semi-final on a beautiful Spring day. By the grace of God we were lucky. The 96 and their families weren’t so lucky. As always, my thoughts are with them.

15th April 2019 at 5:31 pm #37679AnonymousBrian, I seriously doubt that Pep is more concerned with any other side other than Spurs or Liverpool. very true regards you only having to win one more but I’d take our fixtures over yours. I’d say it’s a 50-50 that City win all the remaining games. Good odds considering that you’ve 2 top 6 teams and Leicester to beat. As for Pep acknowledging that Liverpool will win their remaining games, this is only what he is saying though, to help deal with the pressure. Of course it’s no given that Liverpool will win the remaining 4, seriously… not even close. So, you see why the odds are still in City’s favour, regardless of our “easier” games. Even if we win all ours, you still have a 50-50 shot at the title. So, what if we both drop pints, which is reasonably likely.. You still take the title.
We’ve gotten the harder ones out of the way but in the PL, any side on their day can cause problems for us, or you. I’m really glad that Newcastle won on the weekend, we don’t need them defending for their lives for a draw. They are all but safe now. Wolves of course will be another tough game but I’ll take it over a match against a bitter rival, or the 3rd placed team.
The heat is on lads!! We’ve been cranking up the gas!!!

15th April 2019 at 9:31 pm #37683Mak…I take the view that whichever team wins it will deserve it, as simple as that, I do not even complicate with fixtures, Win the games and you cannot loose. However,, it could be Liverpool will drop points as much as City so it all adds up to an exciting finish from two teams that have brought some life into the EPL. A lot of it has been dire this season. I hope next season we will see more than two teams fighting it out

16th April 2019 at 6:58 am #37685very interesting league this year, the top 2 going toe to toe and theother 2 places so close for 4 teams, some great results for mid table teams like wolves and Leicester

16th April 2019 at 8:57 am #37691Arsenal made hard work of it but a wins a win. Spurs and Arsenal favourites to finish in the top 4 now and in that order.

16th April 2019 at 9:27 am #37694AnonymousBrian, indeed, we could lose any one of those games, with 2 of them being difficult tasks but I am still delighted to have the top 6 behind us. It’s only a little less pressure but every bit helps.
As for other teams competing, given that we could be looking at a 97 point second place side, we’ll have to see less stellar seasons from City and Liverpool and a little bit of improvement from the other sides. You’d expect to see such an improvement though, with some being in transition. Spurs have their stadium out of the way now also and will likely spend.

16th April 2019 at 9:29 am #37695AnonymousSteveo, I’d love to see Wolves kick on from this season in the summer (after hopefully losing to us of course). It’s not very healthy to have such a gap between 6th and 7th and they are one of the teams who might have it in them.

16th April 2019 at 9:46 am #37696The sending off to one side, kudos to both teams in just getting on with the game professionally in good spirits and going for it.
Well Done to the Gunners – Unai does need new players definitely in the defensive areas. That was a big 3 points on the road, though not a lot of prep time for their Europa clash and the scheduling I must say is a little harsh, but hope they continue to do well.

16th April 2019 at 9:50 am #37697I don’t think in relation to the possibility of Man City dropping points would hinge or should hinge on the Man United fixture, though out of all the remaining fixtures, they look the best prospect.
Despite whatever’s been said in their fans not wanting Liverpool, I’m 200% confident the Red Devils will be professionals and play for Pride at the very least.
I don’t think their people in suits too will be too happy playing Europa League Football, so they need to ensure they nail TOP 4 and that means not losing.

16th April 2019 at 10:16 am #37698What a soft goal for Watford to concede and whether you like Deeney or not that was not an elbow and not a red card imo.
Garry Neville last night advocating United rest players v City to give themselves the best chance of making the top 4 with so many games in 10 days?

16th April 2019 at 11:48 am #37703The two north London teams are favorites for top four in my opinion, and for Utd to stand a chance of getting there I think they will need to win every single game. And that obviously includes next week against City were I will be unashamably cheering on those from Salford!
Last night was a big result from Arsenal if not a big performance, especially given their away form.

16th April 2019 at 12:06 pm #37706Huddersfield and Cardiff would be a straight 6 points for United, but Chelsea at home, I wouldn’t be so sure given the Blues own position in fight for 4th place.
I could see a draw at best. United have players due to come back in which their squad depth would be strengthened and that would include Sanchez.
A defeat v City and possibly a draw V Chelsea, plus with Everton to face this Easter Saturday, one would be mindful in not conceding too many points. The last 4th place points difference could be really close.
In any case, I’ve mentioned this from a Liverpool point of view that any slip up from City wouldn’t necessarily hinge on the visit to Old Trafford as there are other fixtures out there, and my other point being the point of professionalism which I would refer to a perfect example of 1995 where we actually beat Blackburn 2-1 that would have handed United the Title had they themselves ensured victory at Upton Park.

16th April 2019 at 12:17 pm #37708Bailly for me is a big loss in United’s defence. I don’t if he’s likely to return again this season.
What’s going against Solksjaer at the moment is the lack of Leadership on the pitch and 2 to 3 strong characters that are the Glue, and the Driving Force.
Matic should be back in the First Team, and youngters in Mctominay, and Andreas Periera for me would be the guys that have that Speed and Spark in them.
