17th April 2023 at 10:22 pm #206315When did Rafa last do anything of note? He was pretty dire at Newcastle and then at Everton. Even more so than Mourinho, I think Rafa has seen the game pass him by now. He doesn’t seem to have developed with the game enough for me.

17th April 2023 at 10:25 pm #206316Yeah that’s fair Ed but I thought he was a good shout to keep them up, and more to mikus’s point its not really what’s rafa done it’s why garcia over someone with the experience of rafa

17th April 2023 at 10:25 pm #206317Has bags more experience of the league though Ed, and would have made them a bit more ordered and would probably keep them up.

17th April 2023 at 10:31 pm #206319Yeah I suppose the whole “experience” factor worked well with Hodgson. I’ve just never considered Rafa to be a galvanising, keep-them-up kind of manager. He was in the process of taking Everton down.

17th April 2023 at 10:36 pm #206320I know what you mean and man management has never been his strength, but he’s very good tactically and bringing order to a team which is what you need down there. At Everton he probably did the best he could with that team but the fans were never going to embrace him when the results were difficult.

17th April 2023 at 10:42 pm #206321Ed also to be honest while rafa in my opinion was a good shout to keep them up, I wouldn’t in hindsight really fancy him long term if he did keep them up. So that almost defeats the point of hiring in the first place, except to say survival is so important for Leicester it may just about have been worth bringing him in all considered.

17th April 2023 at 10:42 pm #206322Sean, Thankyou and Greatly Appreciate it mate.
I understand where you are coming from in context of 4th etc. I think at best we can get Europa, but even then, we’re probably best off without.
I just want us to see us play good and win football matches emphatically which over the course of time turned out to be the case tonight.
Depressing and been long since 7-0, so Happy and Grateful. Now something to look forward to this coming Weekend 🙂

18th April 2023 at 2:13 pm #206340I still am not 100% sure what we were implementing as a structure.
Mikus made a sound point on the other thread about discipline. I would also add to that structure and purpose.
Yes, it was a delightful emphatic 6-1, but the first half wasn’t great. It was disjointed and in familiar territory, our midfield was overran. We couldn’t put together any sequence of passes. Fluidity in our game came to life after the first goal and playing on the counter.
I think we definitely implemented 3 at the back, 4 in the middle and possible 2 with Jota as a Spearhead. A Christmas Tree basically or a 3-4-3. Trent definitely moved to CM.
Fabinho can’t be our main guy next season; he needs to step down to a James Milner role and play less minutes. Nevez, Declan Rice and James Ward-Prowse may work better for us if we sign them.
