It’s more a of psychology thing which Arteta needs to get a grip of. The Friday Night game at the Emirates in my mind is a very much needed boost and they’ll do everything they can to get all 3 points. Though Southampton themselves may fancy getting into their heads and this is what it’s about; being mentality stable and level headed.
2 draws back to back renders the tendency of glass half empty than a glass half full. The 8 point lead was the safety net to use. Perhaps not for the these particular matches as I think Newcastle away will be hard, but if the Gunners can pull something off at the Ethiad, the Title is in their hands.
Tough challenge as a Liverpool fans know of the experiences of 18/19 and 21/22. This stage of the season, City are T1000 and rarely let up.

17th April 2023 at 6:27 am #20621517 prem appearances this season and 12 each for the previous two seasons
https://www.whoscored.com/Players/101374/History/John-Stones
Lucky.John Stones has made more appearances in four of the six seasons that
both him and Aymeric Laporte have been at the clubIn the three years Ruben Dias has been at the club.RD has made more in all three
Nathan Ake leads by two to one.But if you take into account John Stones injury record
He certainly would overhaul Nathan Ake’s total or at least be similar JS 24 NA 35
JS has missed 13 games this season due to hamstring injury’shttps://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-stones/verletzungen/spieler/186590

17th April 2023 at 9:33 am #206229Paul, why you feel the need to go over the top like this regards stones just because someone, can’t remember who, once said years ago that he didn’t think stones was that good, I don’t know. Seems petty to me.
I’m not having that he is a great player all of a sudden mate. He is a very good ball playing defender who has hardly featured for you in the prem league for last 3 seasons.
He is now pivotal in your team as Peps system requires a player who can defend in wide area’s out of possesion and play as DM in possesion. Zinchenko and cancelo are no longer there, ake and walker can’t do that job, hence stones is now featuring regularly in a role that really suits him and he is doing a very good job.
If you had a better option to do the role from the left side instead of right I am almost certain walker would be defensive right side and stones would be on bench. But I am only basing that on what pep did when he had those options, ie zinchenko and cancelo.

17th April 2023 at 9:42 am #206230You’d have to say failure to win for Liverpool tonight removes any slim hope they have to get top 4. There couldn’t be a better place to go right now than Leeds though who are in an awful run of form. Fancy Liverpool to win tonight and put a bit of a run together. Still think there’s going to be a late surge from someone for that 4th spot. Probably too late now for Liverpool with Brighton and Villa now flying and Newcastle and ourselves already holding a decent points advantage.

Lucky are you taking the piss ? I’ve wasted my own time replying several times when you jumped in on a question for Sean.Me and Sean used to have banter with each other on the old TT forum over plenty of stuff π
Last time I reply on this topic. You’ve worn me out
John Stones has been at a very important member of our squad for the last 5 or 6 years and still is.Not the automatic picks like Aguero David Silva Fenandinho Kompany were back in the day.My basis for this ? I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1984 so nearly forty years of following them home and away.I like to think I know a little more about my team than you do π
FYI Stones has been deployed in Midfield before this season. So it’s not new.
He’s also played at rightback several times as part of a three back line.Ed any ideas why my reply to nearly 12 hours to hit the group? At least 4 msgs posted after mine were on there when I logged on earlier?

17th April 2023 at 10:04 am #206233I heard this last night.”Brighton have been apologised by PGMOL three times this season”
Other than Spurs the other week what were the other two for ?_____________________________

17th April 2023 at 10:19 am #206234Lol Paul you silly bugger you trolling yourself or what? π€£
The last 3 years are a decent sample and don’t need a season ticket to aggregate appearances.
17, 12 and 12 out of a possible 106 prem games is less than 40% of games and whether its injuries along with not being best option for roles available it doesn’t matter.
That’s life at a top club unless you are truly world class in which you always start when fit.

17th April 2023 at 10:51 am #206235Paul, I have a few times that pep strongest his point is he improves players. Stones has vastly improved and had cut out his mistakes
As lucky says ake os pms ting in the perfect position now but I still think heβs vulnerable in a flat bsck 4 at cb

17th April 2023 at 10:54 am #206236Mikuis, I agree. I think Arsenal have missed a huge opportunity here and I donβt think they be challenging next season. Always fancied city as arsenal donβt have the expierence for a title fight. Two very bad results as they gave up two goal leads. Huge pity but just look at city now. They are in superb form
Ye Ed, Leeds are shocking but so are we. No chance of top 4. Utd and Newcastle deserve it as spurs, Liverpool, etc have being embarrassing
Would love to see Brighton do it but Iβm Ute they will fade away

17th April 2023 at 11:10 am #206237PPT, yeah that’s my fault re the post taking ages. Every now and again posts get flagged as needing approval and I only logged on this morning so it was just sitting waiting to be approved. If a post fits a certain criteria it can be flagged as potential spam and just gets filtered. No idea tbh why that one was flagged.

17th April 2023 at 11:15 am #206238Ed, FYI, I have found that only happens to me if I am signed out. When you sign in you tick a box to keep you signed in and that works for most part but now and again I am signed out when I come to site and have to sign in to post, in those cases I find the first post is flagged awaiting moderation as though it is a first time post from a new user.

17th April 2023 at 11:20 am #206239Ah ok that’s good to know, Lucky. A new poster’s first post is always flagged by design as it stops idiots getting in. So maybe there’s some flaw in that setup,as you suggest.

17th April 2023 at 11:27 am #206241Yeah Sean. I think Brighton are the only ones who could realistically sneak in now. Spurs have 3 games now to save their season with Newcastle, Utd and Liverpool but it’s hard to see them taking much from those.

17th April 2023 at 11:40 am #206242Sean, indeed. Kind of reminds me of our run under Rodgers in 13/14. Very rarely do you see a team who have been out the CL for a while go from 5th to 1st in one season, particularly when youβre up against this City team. Be a tremendous achievement if they do, but City look ominous now right behind them as Tiger Woods used to look at his peak when he sat just a few shots behind going into the final round.

17th April 2023 at 12:16 pm #206243He may be a massive bell end, but Bruno was absolutley supurb yesterday and I’m not quite sure how he came out of that game without a goal or an assist. One of the best players in the league when he’s on it like that.

17th April 2023 at 1:05 pm #206244I agree he is very good despite his attitude. Said yesterday he deserved assist for the first time pass to martial on his left foot that led to the opening goal.
Not to get drawn in to any arguments that he is over rated I just think he deserves to be rated as a very talented number 10.
He will frustrate utd fans as much as opposition fans at times I think but his talent is clear.

17th April 2023 at 1:05 pm #206245At least it’s not like ziyech at chelsea where the attitude outweighs the talent.

17th April 2023 at 2:12 pm #206246PPT, @ 10:04 am, just picking up on your point; maybe worth a sticky thread just to monitor, but if that’s now 3 mistakes made by the official bodies even though an acknowledgement and apology have been made, this has costed Brighton points.
Wishful thinking on my part is that if a club is totted up to 3 mistakes made by the officials, surely then as a way of compensating, points should be awarded. I would say for every 3 mistakes made, 6 points should be awarded.
