What I’m saying is that VAR should be prepared to overturn decisions and equally penalised players for try to pool the wool over the Ref’s eyes.

25th August 2019 at 3:52 pm #46304The TV pictures clearly show the Bournemouth player stepping on Silva’s foot and impeding him in the penalty area. It was a penalty imo and in the opinion of Matthew Upon commenting on the BBC “For me that’s a penalty. It was difficult to see if there was contact but when it is slowed down, it is obvious that he stood on his foot. ”
It hadn’t mattered today but there will be games when it does matter and yet again it’s evidence of the inaccuracies or VAR primarily because Referees tuvked away in a TV studio somewhere are making their own judgements and human error is creeping back in.

25th August 2019 at 3:59 pm #46307Good Win for Man City and Well Done. Bournemouth did try and but like Arsenal yesterday, just wasn’t clinical enough.

25th August 2019 at 4:59 pm #46322I would question “how the heck”, but to be fair, these orange Magpies have been knocking on the door.
1-0. Kane rightly so has spaced himself out deep because he’s been marked.

25th August 2019 at 6:10 pm #46324Just clumsy by that Newcastle defender. Bit surprised at that not been given by VAR.

25th August 2019 at 6:59 pm #46329AnonymousThat’s Karma for last week, I have watched the Newcastle player dive in front of Kane at least 10 times and every time he gets away with it

25th August 2019 at 7:10 pm #46330AnonymousAfter watching Liverpool & City over the weekend we are light years away, no pace, utterly predictable, no plan A or B, no goal threat and suspect at the back, it will indeed be a feckin miracle if we get a CL place this season. Top 4 in any order City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, Spurs and United battling for 5/6th with Leicester.

25th August 2019 at 7:57 pm #46333Having lost last week 1-3 away to Norwich you wouldn’t have been putting anyone elses money on Newcastle getting anything at Spurs but credit to Newcastle and Steve Bruce they came with a game plan and showed a tremendous collective commitment and their travelling fans were brilliant and are long overdue something positive to hang on to.
Tough tactics for Spurs to deal with I though they lacked creativity and had Spurs scored first this would have probably been a totally different game.
To be fair the Newcastle goal was very well worked and scored but there was some poor Spurs defending too.
I know there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Eriksen which will be sorted out one way or another by Monday week but Spurs imo are a much better team with Eriksen in it.
On the basis of the first three games the title looks to be just between City and Liverpool the rest of the top 4 in whatever combination is anybody’s guess none of the protagonists look the full package currently.
It looks to me like VAR is causing more uncertainty than certainty.

25th August 2019 at 9:18 pm #46340AnonymousHmmm I think it’s just too early to write any teams out of the title race just yet. Early season can just be a bit odd, especially for the bigger teams in games where you expect them to win by a good margin. City and Liverpool without a doubt look the strongest but signings have to settle, along with teams getting their full sharpness.
The Spurs result was a huge shock to me and it definitely does nothing to help their cause and you could say the same about the Arsenal result against us (much less so though, of course)… but if either of those teams were to bounce back by smashing the other in the London derby, this weekend will be totally forgotten.
Look at last season and the amount of times that the title race opened up or switched places. Spurs were in and out of it several times. The initiative flies all over the place and opportunities are always there for teams who can put a winning run together.
So, no way are we going to write off teams after 3 games. Honestly, we could be set for a classic derby coming up though.

25th August 2019 at 9:29 pm #46342Mak, “On the basis of the first three games the title looks to be just between City and Liverpool.”
The key word there was “looks”. ?
I agree I wouldn’t write anybody out of the title race yet far too soon I mean even Chelsea are on the same points as United and Spurs and are still missing half a dozen players and currently under a transfer ban that might be lifted come January.?

25th August 2019 at 11:21 pm #46344Iβve still got a feeling Chelsea will come good, I donβt know what it is or why but thatβs my gut feeling. As for the big prize, I said it last season & Iβll say it again, they might as well just put it in the cabinet at Etihad & watch the rest fight for the other 3 C/L positions, way to much quality in depth for others to compete with over a full season. That said itβll be interesting to see who makes up the top 4, I think itβll be Spurs, Liverpool & Chelsea in that order.
Talk soon folks, take care._____________________________
