Have to fancy the Toffeemen tonight, only saw the Villains against the Spuds and I wasn’t that impressed. Got the one goal against the run of play and then clung on for dear life. Only chance Villains have is if they score first… and hold out for a 1-0!

My Son D in L and our two Grandsons are out in Majorca at the moment on Holiday and both the boys were very excited to find that Paul Merson was staying in the same Hotel as them.

Yesterday Paul Merson stopped and had a chat with both my Grandsons because he saw the youngest was wearing his Bristol City top and was talking to them both about Bristol City what a nice touch I know he’s had his demons but he’s always come across as a nice bloke to me.

The boys were so excited at him stopping to have a chat with them all of his own fruition and they will probably remember that moment for ever.

And back to thread.?

I’m not expecting a great game tonight few goals and either an Everton win or a draw.

Torres played his final professional game today and penned this letter to the fans:

When I was five years old, I started playing football with my brother. Thirty years later I will play my final match as a professional.

“Today I look back and can hardly believe everything I have lived through. I feel very fortunate to have been able to win the most important trophies in the world and play for some of the most prestigious clubs.

“There are also the successes with the Spanish national team; I have experienced feelings of great emotion and happiness. I wanted to thank football for making me so happy.

“But I don’t want to forget the most authentic part of the sport, the part which makes it so wonderful: the fans.”

Torres will always be remembered with great affection at the Bridge particularly for his contribution to the CL and the EL win.

I don’t know his plans going forwards but whatever they are I wish him great happiness with his family.
