Couple of big games to get our teeth into this weekend with Innocent City vs Pool to kick things off… naturally, want an Innocent City win for multiple reasons, so obviously Pool are going to win that one… Goonies should do Leeds no problem…. YooUtd vs the Bone Saw Boyz, would like a draw I think, but would prefer about 8 red cards and a proper punch-up… and a lovely trip to Goodison to face a Sean “Don’t Like It Up’em” Dyche’s Everton… on paper we should be okay… but it’s played on grass and hoping for a medium short-term part-time manager bounce (and suspect we’ll be getting a red card for Richy…)

27th March 2023 at 12:41 pm #205615Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz should finally be in contention. The question is will everybody BE READY? Potential 2 away defeats stare at us, even a surprise defeat at Anfield on Easter Sunday if we’re not too careful which could leave us with 11 losses in total for the whole season.
If however we were to come up trumps with a shock win or earn a hard fought point at the Ethiad, that would really boost our confidence going into the other games. Tails have to be up.

31st March 2023 at 5:51 pm #205696No Phil Foden and Haaland although has been reported to feature, in my reckoning will be 50/50.

31st March 2023 at 6:50 pm #205697We’re capable of scoring goals and playing well but in parts only. We seem to have zero game management capabilities. At Anfield, we’d have half a chance. But away, it looks less likely. On the other side of the coin, theres no big expectation on us and City are obviously desperate to close the gap on Arsenal. Our midfield 3 of Henderson, Fabinho & Elliot seems to be our most successful this season. If they play, I might feel better about our prospects.

31st March 2023 at 7:16 pm #205698A problem we have is we’re away to Chelsea several days later, so that’s City away and Chelsea away in just 4 days so we’ll have to rotate which were not good at at the moment. Yes, everyone has congested fixtures this season, but that run really doesn’t do us any favours.

1st April 2023 at 8:46 am #205700Thatβs it mikuis. You would strongly fancy city. Filly expect to see halland and city really would need to have 5/6 injuries to key players before injuries would affect their team
Hate going to Stanford bridge. We are just abysmal away from home. We really are. I can only see two defeats.
Big week for Wrexham babjo!
2nd with two games in hand and play notts county next Monday

1st April 2023 at 9:02 am #205701You would have to fancy the mighty Wrexhams at home to Oldham and as you say, next Monday is the big one, win that and I would say it’s all done and dusted… absolutely a game the Notts County have to win to have any realistic chance of winning…
Also, staying in the “there is football outside the Prem” catagory, have to mention good old Leyton Orient, flying high at the top of League 2… 5 points clear AND a game in hand….
And then we have the mighty Cocks.. π

1st April 2023 at 10:07 am #205702Sean, we have overestimated the strength in depth of city squad imo.
If you look at it there is not anywhere near two players of equal standard for each role. Not to say they don’t have the best squad in terms of quality but take de bruyne and haaland out of the team they are not as strong let alone the 5/6 players you say it would take to weaken them.
The main players are below, include Rico lewis and kelvin Philips too if you want but let’s not pretend they are as good as first choice.
Emerson
Stones
Ake
Akanji
Laporte
Dias
Walker
Rodri
Gundogan
De bruyne
Silva
Grealish
Foden
Mahrez
Alvarez
HaalandThe difference is quality rather quantity imo

1st April 2023 at 12:15 pm #205705Pep’s employing 2 holding midfielders which is a bit strange for a home fixture and a must win game. The problem for us though is containing Mahrez, Grealish and KDB.
It’s one of those where we hold out for 90 and we then are crushed with an ‘O Shea’ moment or we receive a battering or The Ref goes to the monitor, overturns a decision and we concede a Penalty. One of those outcomes from a must-win game.

1st April 2023 at 12:25 pm #205706Lucky, that could be achieved mate. Gakpo and Nunez need time to settle but most of all, we need a clearout this summer and consolidation on Ox, Keita, Thiago because the lack of depth has costed us in not being able to supplement quality when faced with injuries.

1st April 2023 at 12:31 pm #205707Ye fair points lucky. I said at the start of the season Philips was a bizarre signing he was never going to play with Rodri in there. Rodri best holding player around for me
