Rabona Eddy-Absolutely stunnned for us to finish 3rd after being so many points behind Lesta and Chelsea.Imagine had we had Rashford not injured for so long, maybe even 2nd would have been within our reach.

27th July 2020 at 10:47 am #134987Unless Chelsea sign a complete back 5 they are not going anywhere to challenging for the title, more or less same about United.Unless Maguire and AWB improve some 500%.

27th July 2020 at 11:06 am #134991Cheers Ed and the same to you and the United lads, rather it hadn’t have gone to the last game of the season though.?
I don’t think it will go to the last game of the season next season and I can see the top 4 being exactly the same as it is now.
Chelsea will be better next season for the experience as will Frank they’ve already made two top offensive signings with another one allegedly close and then I expect them to strengthen defensively too with probably a Keeper, left back and Centre Back. I suspect United will spend big over the Summer too and it will be difficult for those outside the current top 4 to catch up because of that as they are all likely to have to spend much more frugally.
Still a way to go for United and Chelsea to catch Liverpool and City although I expect the gap to narrow a bit between United and Chelsea and the top 2 and the fight for the title between City and Liverpool to be a lot closer too.

27th July 2020 at 11:29 am #134999Can’t argue with that Nine. I think the odds for the title next season will change massively depending on who does what though.
Will be an interesting summer window, to say the least.

27th July 2020 at 11:35 am #135002Ed, it looks like the main movers and shakers as far as transfers are concerned this Summer are going to be City, United and Chelsea but as you touched on in onr of your earlier posts it’s all about spending it wisely a la Liverpool with VVD, Alisson and Fabinho.

27th July 2020 at 12:28 pm #135016AnonymousKlopp has even stepped away from talk about replacing Lallana, Lovren, Shaqiri etc. He’s almost said that it’s pointless to cover one area because then the injuries will come in the one that you don’t cover. I find this kind of talk to be worrying, as of course that’s not at all how it goes but to be already justifying not getting anyone in, is just scary.
I’m hoping this is all an act as they work on a few deals. They don’t have to be big stars but we weren’t considered to be a side that was overly abundant in depth.
At first I thought those odds were ridiculous but if we’re actually PLANNING on becoming a weaker side, especially whilst our rivals will look to improve then we will be asking for it. What if this is the last title Klopp wins for us? If we should a complete disregard for maintenance and improvement then it will be. I know the outbreak hurts us more than many others but come on, you can find room to replace a few squad players. Lovren and Lallana will have been on pretty high wages and I double Shaqiri was paid in smiles and pats on the back.

27th July 2020 at 1:28 pm #135027Mak-Maybe Klopp is planning to introduce a few youngsters to the squad? Chelsea are spending because they completely rebuilding[so it seems],and because they couldnt spend in the last cple of windows.Liverpool doesnt require any rebuilding whatsoever, just a few additions to the squad, not the 1st team.

27th July 2020 at 2:02 pm #135035Mav, Chelsea to date are spending the monies they received for Hazard circa Β£100m inc bonuses to date and Morata Β£58m plus Palasic Β£15m. Which gave them almost a Β£175m start on every one else.
Β£48m for Werner and Β£37m for Zylich means they’ve still got circa Β£100m left from those sales with a deal for Emerson almost tied up bringing in Β£20m and probably another circa Β£50m for Jorginho and maybe Β£25m Zouma.
And then of course there’s the Β£100m from the sale of Bakayoko.?

27th July 2020 at 2:08 pm #135040AnonymousI mean, I guess Klopp does plan to use the youngsters but do we have players who are able to make that step up? Elliot is a few years away, although he looks good. Jones is pretty close and although he has scored some decent goals, I’m not going over-board about him yet. He definitely looks like a future PL level player and we can hope for more but is he ready to take on the responsibility of being a squad player who actually has to shoulder the responsibility of being cover for the first team, instead of now where we kinda play him when we can? I guess Klopp knows best because I’d have to see more of him TBH.
As for the rest, we have Minamino as cover for the front 3, Ox also. Minamino was unlucky not to score the last day and does look a bit better but we also need to see more of him to be sure. I was initially, extremely underwhelmed by him but he’s improving. Is he good enough to cover for that front 3 though? Surely we should have 1 very decent player who can generally cover all positions up top? The gap from TOP class to kinda below average PL player would be a big big drop off. Well, the drop to Ox is not as dramatic but he’s covering from another position that he’s competing for.
I also don’t think we’ll buy people and I have to say, I think we’re cutting it a little thin, if that’s the case.

27th July 2020 at 4:18 pm #135102It’s an understatement to say this season was a bit strange, very long and desperately sad, congratulations to Liverpool, City, Utd and Chelsea. Got to feel for the injuries Leicester picked up and for Wolves who dropped out of a Europa place on the last day. I wouldn’t begrudge them our spot if they won the Europa this season but that’s a long shot with a lot of very good teams still in it.
The PL has lost 2 of it’s greats in Silva and Vertonghen and won’t be the same next season without them.
The same 4 teams will fight for the title next season with the others priced out of any challenge, Spurs will be about as exciting as watching wood warp , Arsenal will do better if they can tighten up their defence ……a lot, sorry Steve.Leicester , Wolves , Arsenal and Newcastle if the takeover gets the nod will be in the mix for the Europa spots along with Spurs boring teams to death._____________________________

29th July 2020 at 9:05 pm #136531Nil, I never thought I would see Brentford in the top division and it looks like they may have a chance now if they can come through this game although Fulham (probably) will be tough nut to crack in the Final.
I used to go from Twickenham to Griffin Park on a trolley bus when I was a kid they were in the 3rd Division then.?
The new Stadium will be available from next season too albeit perhaps understandably the capacity is a bit low for the PL at a tad over 17,000.

29th July 2020 at 9:18 pm #136540Nice new Stadium Nil albeit the capacity is a bit small for the PL. Very generous owner who has helped bank roll the new Stadium.
