26th July 2020 at 6:29 pm #134746Anonymouswell, we all know that rather than really congratulating utd, it’s more that you’re happy Utd lost.

26th July 2020 at 8:32 pm #134784“Ziyech watches from the stands, We beat Norwich. Werner watches from the stands, We beat wolves. Get havertz in the stands for the FA cup final ?”
Made me chuckle.

26th July 2020 at 9:01 pm #134791The word ‘legend’ is banded around all too easily in football these days but in David Silva’s case it couldn’t be more appropriate. Eleven trophies (15 if you count the CS, as some do) in ten years, never gave less than a 7/10 performance, an unassuming personality and never a bad word for anyone.
He has amazing balance, vision, ball control and always willing to accept the ball, even in the tightest situations.
As a City fan, it has been an absolute pleasure to watch him live over the last 10 years.
Good luck to you in the future Dav, in whatever you undertake.
You will be sorely missed at the Etihad (but not too much on the pitch, hopefully).
Legend you surely are._____________________________

26th July 2020 at 9:15 pm #134796GJ, and it’s incredible that you have managed to find KDB who, let’s be honest, is very much worthy of Silva’s shirt.

Heβs got better with age. Great signing fir Chelsea
Congrats to utd abd Chelsea. Huge steps forward
Also villa. Delighted they stayed up
Rodgers and Leicester really messed up
Huge collapse from them

27th July 2020 at 8:53 am #134952Delighted with 3rd. Considering how far behind Leicester and Chelsea we’ve been at various points in the season, it’s some achievement to finish in the top 4, never mind 3rd.
Lots being made about Utd’s penalties this season but it’s only because it’s Utd that it’s become news. Leicester were the previous record holders for most pens in a season when they won the league and it was not even mentioned (Utd beat it by 1!). Another stone wall penalty on Martial though. We’ve also had some dreadful decisions go against us this season, most recently the blatant red Southampton should have had early on at OT.
Only a better GD got us 3rd though so unless we’re planning to invest at least as much as Chelsea this summer, we will be in for another tough fight to secure CL football again. No chance of a title challenge until we can close the gap in quality to City and Liverpool more. That’s not just about blowing more money than them but spending it the right way, which we’ve been awful at post-Ferguson.
Nice feeling going into the EL now knowing we don’t need to win it to secure CL football.
This tweet sums up our season, too, for me. Excellent against the teams in and around us but unable to put away the smaller sides.
Congrats tot he Chelsea lads for getting CL football too. Always nice to make the CL. If Lampard can sort your defence out, Chelsea could easily challenge next year with the all the new signings coming in. Very envious of all the money Chelsea are spending and how quickly they’re getting their business done.
#mufc record against top six was excellent in the league:
Liverpool: DL
City: WW
Chelsea: WW
Leicester: WW
Spurs: WD
23 points from 30.
Only did the league double against two bottom-half teams, though, which was the problem.— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) July 26, 2020

27th July 2020 at 9:02 am #134955Just want to add to Sweedy Eddy’s post, it just happened to be a dodgy peno “win” from Rashford that got the W at Old Toilet, and (another) dodgy peno “win” from Emoji-Flop to get the D at the Lane (and a really pathetic attempt to “win” another peno for the “w” from the new flopmeister-general)… but other than that, you were brilliant against a pretty shite Spuds team… π
Going to stick my neck out here and suggest both Russian Money & YooUtd have been made to look better than they really are, as the rest of the League has been pretty shite this season.

27th July 2020 at 9:11 am #134958Oh I agree that you lot have made us look better Chucky. Neither Utd or Chelsea get top 4 any other season with the amount of inconsistent performances they’ve had. Both been very shaky all season and taken advantage of Spurs and Arsenal, in particular, being crap pre Mourinho and Arteta.
Couldn’t have guessed you’d be complaining about ref decisions for Utd though ?. Your lot are as bad as any when it comes to flopping on the floor. If Kane wasn’t England captain and the media darling, the Rivaldo impression I posted earlier on this thread, the media would have had a field day. If Pogba had done that, it’d be trending for weeks! Kane and Alli give everyone a run for their money in the diving department ?

27th July 2020 at 9:31 am #134965Wish they’d been doing a bit more of it, especially against Sheffield and Bournemouth…
Really can’t wait for next season, the top two will still be the top two, no doubt about that, but 3rd onwards is still all up for grabs. The Russian Money clubs maybe chucking huge wads around (again!) but buying young kids from weaker leagues is no sure thing. Maybe the following season, after they’ve got used to the Prem, but I’m not going to be making them favourites for 3rd.
But I guess we’ll have to see about who buys who. Disco again showed us why we need that lad from Southhampton, absolute improvement there, and a new right-back (anyone will do!! I’d even think about getting Trippier back!!!), and hopefully no long term injuries to the likes of Hugo, Sir Harry, Sonny, we’ll be back up there by virtue of grinding out shitty results with shitty performances…

27th July 2020 at 9:53 am #134970Ed, what is Utd’s record against lowerer positioned teams since Fernandes joined? I’m guessing a lot better and most of the poor record was earlier in the season when Utd didn’t have that player that could unlock teams.
