What a fantastic game of football @ Anfield las night!Brilliant goals all around.Apart from Liber000ls,the other top teams have got really rubbish defences, take your pick from City,Chelsea,Utd,Arse.Chelsea will require a complete back 5,and more or less Utd too.

23rd July 2020 at 12:53 pm #133505Mikus, I always said I’d be quietly confident as long as we went into that last game not needing a win. We’ve now done that. We’ve pulled back a 14 point gap from Leicester and closed a reasonable gap on Chelsea, too, so even that is pretty impressive considering where we were midway through the season.
Considering we couldn’t put West Ham away, though, I would not say I’m completely confident, no. It could be a false sense of security that we only need a point as we could be a bit too cautious, letting them come onto us. That could well suit us though.
I wouldn’t like to call it. I think we’d need the win for 3rd, though. My worry is that we’ve faltered at many crucial pats of the season. The amount of times Chelsea have slipped up, having played first, only for us to throw the chance away to overtake them is crazy.
We should have enough, but we have a nervy goalkeeper at the moment and a nervy goalkeeper tends to lead to a nervy defence.
1-1 I reckon with Chelsea getting a narrow win to take 3rd, meaning we’d get 4th. Slightly reassuring to know we get another shot if we do mess it up, though, with the EL coming up soon after.

23rd July 2020 at 1:45 pm #133514Squeaky bum time for the both of us Ed.?
I think we both need to go into the two games looking to win them rather than trying not tonlose them but it’s going to be tense.

23rd July 2020 at 3:48 pm #133564Yeh United will still be favourites, but in a one off game with Leicester also going for the same prize, it will certainly be interesting watching. I’d expect a cagey start by both sides with the game increasingly opening up as it goes along. I also think both managers could also fall into overthinking how to set up.

23rd July 2020 at 3:53 pm #133566Anyone know if this is a wind up or not? Surely can’t be true can it?! ?
Birmingham City will retire the number 22 shirt following Jude Bellingham's transfer to Borussia Dortmund.

23rd July 2020 at 4:02 pm #133570Whether Bellingham makes it or not, it is embarrassing to retire the shirt number of a 17yr old kid who has had a few decent games. Would love to see Roy Keane being asked about this ?

23rd July 2020 at 4:52 pm #133593Ridiculous Ed, tbh I’m not sure about retiring shirt numbers at all albeit that Chelsea retired the number 25 shirt of Gianfranco Zola in 2004.
But if it is going to be done it should be reserved for the greats and real Club legends.
I can only imagine what Roy Keane would say.?

23rd July 2020 at 5:04 pm #133598That’s it Nine. I’m not keen either unless in real extreme examples. I mean, nobody would bat an eyelid if Messi retired the number 10 shirt would they? That’s one of the rare occasions it’s acceptable imo.
Genuinely can’t think of a player at my own club who’d warrant it through the years, never mind a kid with 1 season under his belt who helped Birmingham to a 20th position in the league ?

23rd July 2020 at 7:31 pm #133652AnonymousI’m not in favour of retiring shirts at all TBH. There’s no way that Birmingham have, that’s a wind-up for sure. A good one!

24th July 2020 at 7:26 am #133846My post @5:04 pm yesterday should have read “…if Barca had retired the number 10 shirt (for Messi)…”. But yeah, agree in general that it really shouldn’t happen at all. Absolutely bonkers in Bellingham’s case

24th July 2020 at 10:45 am #133901AnonymousSky have actually reported this. You lads have wondered what Keane would say, well you might get your wish!
It’s GOT to be a wind up, surely though. I mean it’s epic if it is and absolutely terrible if it isn’t.

24th July 2020 at 12:03 pm #133918It’s in the sports news over here as well that Birmingham retired Hey Jude’s number.
I think it’s redicoulous. Surely Birmingham only did it to get the attention. The kid is about 11 years old and played about 40 games. I’m sure he’s embarrassed. That would be the natural reaction in this situation. At least if he’s still got just one of two feet on the ground._____________________________

24th July 2020 at 1:25 pm #133933AnonymousI mean, he might not be embarrassed but Birmingham definitely should be. I can’;t believe they did this… I would love to ask the person who thought this was a good idea WTF they were thinking.
This is embarrassing.
