3rd July 2020 at 1:34 pm #126092Mav, I think the Barca ship probably needs a new Admiral etc etc etc but leaving Castelldefels for the City of Manchester I suspect sounds pretty unappealing to Leo even with Pep there and for how long?
If Kane doesn’t leave by next Summer I can see him doing a Le Tiss.

3rd July 2020 at 2:55 pm #126093The game probably meant more to City than Liverpool even putting aside all their previous celebrations.
Tbh City are capable of beating anyone at the Etihad if theyโre on their game. So no shame in losing to them especially as I doubt the Liverpool players were quite as focussed as they were prior to confirming the title.
The result has no impact on this season or indeed imo next season and it might encourage the owners to release some reasonable transfer funds to Klopp.
Canโt see any further than a Liverpool and City fight for the title best season but I donโt think Liverpool can rest on their laurels too long re strengthening the team/squad.
SAFโs strategy of strengthening when you are dominating always seemed a sensible strategy to me. Cheers All 9โs

3rd July 2020 at 4:27 pm #126096Nine..It is a massive “IF” Messi to City, personally, I think it was never on the cards but should I be wrong he would only sign a 1 year contract and with players capable of winning, which City have.I think City will go for somebody younger and be a big part in the next “project” I would not agree that Liverpool players were not focused either, well according to Mr Klopp and I would not under value City’s performance this way. I hope they do the same performance against Arsenal and Real Madrid now. Nothing wrong with Liverpool, they were just beaten by a better team last night…

3rd July 2020 at 4:36 pm #126097Re KDB….I have a feeling that if City are banned from CL, KDB will stay. There iss always a risk moving to another club and KDB appears to me to be a very pragmatic person and takes his family into consideration as well. If he moves…it will be the Manchester weather!!!!!! Now…he has a good club, good players around him, probably Captain next season, great facilities and a top Coach
We shall see what happens soon_____________________________

3rd July 2020 at 4:47 pm #126098Brian, when Messi leaves Barca I suspect it will be to return to Argentina to play there are few Clubs that can match Barca and the lifestyle it provides.
Re KDB if its a two year ban I think he might go although I think the ban might get reduced to one year on which basis I think KDB would probably stay plus who can afford to sign him in the current circumstances.

3rd July 2020 at 5:00 pm #126099Watched the game this afternoon. KDB head and shoulders the best on view. Foden and Garcia really promising.
Stupid comments from Garragher. He really isnt too bright is he.
But with no crowd its just not the same. The players played properly but no crowd to wind up the opo. Its what we’ve got! We will have much of this for next season I fear._____________________________

3rd July 2020 at 5:26 pm #126100Adlab, re Carragher personally I quite like him but I think it’s wrong of Sky to utilise a match analyser for games involving his previous Club when he is so obviously a supporter of his previous Club.
Keep him for the games that don’t involve or impact on Liverpool same applies to Garry Neville who I also quite like in respect of commenting on United games or games that effect United.

3rd July 2020 at 5:31 pm #126102Thought that was an embarrassment last night, and the Liverpool players should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, City played well, especially KDB, Foden and Sterling, but the lack of fight, pride and professionalism shown by my team was worrying. Trent, Robbo and Gomez were nothing short of dreadful. Gini might as well have not been on the pitch, same with Bobby, and Manewas totally out of sorts also. There was an opportunity to show City that we are 20+ points better than them (not that we are!), and they blew it. Doesn’t matter in the great scheme of things, but have to say, I’m very disappointed in them and Jurgen after last night.

3rd July 2020 at 7:29 pm #126105I think the difference between City and Liverpool is that Liverpool have that bit more heart which has got them over the line in many games this season, but as a technical clinical team, City are still superior (though with an inferior defence this season). They never struggle to score goals. I really want us to sign some more creative and clinical players in midfield. Ox is the only one who looks like scoring from there. Take the away game that Liverpool lost at Atletico Madrid. Thereโs no way City would havenโt scored in that game. Just no way. Now Liverpool may have been let down by the goalkeeper in the return leg, but that midfield area is still the weakness for me.

3rd July 2020 at 8:05 pm #126106If City sign a top quality CB and a other upfront we will be much much stronger.
CB is the priority._____________________________

3rd July 2020 at 8:56 pm #126107Mikus you like many fans are going down the compare the teams without considering the tactics option. Yes there is strong evidence that some of Citys players are technically superior but put them in Klopps team and they could struggle. Likewise put some Liverpool players in Citys team and they would also struggle.
I never get this midfield weakness thing. They were crap last night granted but for the vast majority of the season they have executed Klopps plans to perfection. In the reverse fixture Liverpool dominated the middle of the park.
Put Citys midfield into Klopps team and they wouldn’t do as well as Hendo, Gini and Fab.
And final point, I would say TAA is technically far superior than any City full back, with VvD, Salah and Mane also technically superior than their counterparts. Firmino is not exactly Jason Lee up front. Even in goal we win the technical points.

3rd July 2020 at 9:09 pm #126108Threeps, do you think City would have struggled to score away at Atletico? I don’t. We’re missing something there for me. Also if Klopp is so happy with the 3 you mention in midfield, why did he spend ยฃ50 million on Keita?

3rd July 2020 at 10:07 pm #126109Mikus I cannot possibly comment on a hypothetical situation, who knows what would of happened if City played A. Madrid. There’s been a few times when City failed to score or at least win against teams where who we dominated. You can’t use individual games as examples however, judgement should be for the whole season
We’ve been very poor twice this season, last night and against Watford. Both times the midfield let the team down badly although you could argue no one exactly covered themselves in glory. I agree with regarding Fabinho and that he only a first teamer because there is no other choice. Hendo perhaps but that takes away a lot from the his game. Fab has not hit the high standards of last season and since his injury has been very poor in all but the Palace game, offering little protection to the defence and leaving us wide open.
Regarding Keita, im not sure on the question. Klopp is always looking to improve the squad and obviously saw Keita as a way of doing so. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t rate our midfield or anything.

3rd July 2020 at 11:19 pm #126112In pure footballing terms, I’d argue we’ve been poor in more games than that, and we have struggled. But, we have much heart in the team and we kept eking out narrow victories. Indeed the team is the image of Klopp, and we’ve heard Klopp talk, right from the outset of his time here, about his teams showing heart. So this is undoubtedly our strength. But I just think we can help relieve the pressure in those games we struggled in with a bit more drive and creativity in the centre of the park. Indeed I seem to remember in the away game at Sheff Utd we were struggling in, it was Matip of all people who started to drive into the opposition as the game was ticking by. It’s a real shame Keita hasn’t hit the heights we wanted, because if he had, we’d be a much more robust side. And that’s the key word for me – City’s strength is their robustness and options – no matter who the opposition, no matter if they have an off day, they generally seem to score freely and almost effortlessly.
But it is what makes the rivalry between the two clubs so intriguing.

It won’t stay as a 2 team race for long. there are some newer projects that are already showing signs of kicking on and they have a summer window to come, with Chelsea already locking down some deals. I think Utd are not really going to be hurt by the outbreak fallout and they could have a strong window. I wouldnt rule either out but I also wouldn’t want to make any strong claims, as we just don’t know yet. The CL ban could really hurt City, or perhaps it being written off might prove to be a lift… and we’ve got to consider the current Cl campaign and what might happen if City win it. i think that might be enough fort players to say to themselves “well, we won it, Im happy now and will stay”. You might say that players will desperately want to compete again but I’ll tell you, the desire to win the same tournament the year after isnt as intense and it’s got to be the same for the players too… so food for thought at least.
I will have an eye on Wolves also. They might need some investment and I’ve no idea if they can swing it but they are really at the kind of break-through quality. Maybe they can sense it too , as they are doing well since the restart.

4th July 2020 at 8:08 am #126115Utd are firm favourites for 3rd now in my opinion. Chelsea for 4th. Leicester are in free fall
I just think wolves will fade at some stage mak but they are doing really well

4th July 2020 at 8:15 am #126116I agree with threeps in parts. I hear people thinking we need a more creative midfield player but we started winning things when we got rid of that player ie couthino
Our creativity comes from out wide with our full backs etc.
Huge pity about Keita. Plays well for 3/4 games then gets injured. Then takes a few games to get fit etc. There is a proper player in there .
I like fabhino but Iโm kind of coming around to some of your guys points about him.
To many gaps but is that the tactics lads? Fabhino presses a lot and gaps appear. He is not and out and out holding player. He just doesnโt sit in front of the back 4. If you look at how we play, often fabhino is the first to push up and press from the midfield. Is the gap to big between his press and the two centre backs?

4th July 2020 at 12:25 pm #126129Sean, Iโd say we started winning things when Van Dijk & Alisson came in albeit funded by an unbelievable offer for Coutinho. Doesnโt mean we still donโt miss that kind of player though.

4th July 2020 at 2:40 pm #126133I donโt think we miss it mikius. One cl and a pl title without an out and out creative midfielder.
Alison and vvd came in and made a huge difference mate but we also went bsck to 4-3-3 on w much more regular basis when couthino left.
