24th March 2023 at 5:17 am #205564Would be an interesting appointment at Spurs, that’s for sure. Could also potentially explain Spurs’ delay in announcing Conte’s departure

24th March 2023 at 6:38 am #205565We apparently went for him last time, but he’s ego dictated Spuds were too small for him so he went to the biggest club in a one horse race (and look how that ended?)…
Don’t know if I would want him, to be honest… certainly not in my top 3 even if he is “free” now.

24th March 2023 at 9:15 am #205567Absolutely Nine and really should have been out of sight at 0-3 but for a poor finish from Grealish.

So nothing to do with Shaw getting sent off Ed.Or Maguire being at fault for the Italian goal π
Dreadful miss btw π_____________________________

24th March 2023 at 12:18 pm #205569Never rated nagelsman. Tuchel is an excellent coach. Munich have one of the best squads in Europe and tuchel will get a lot out of those players

24th March 2023 at 12:23 pm #205570I think Bayern have pannicked here.Tuchel was rumoured to be interesting Spuds. So Bayern have nipped in to take him out of the equation ?
Who do you fancy to replace Conte Chucky ? I can’t see further than Poch tbh
Forget VK he wouldn’t lower himself to go to your tinpot club π_____________________________

24th March 2023 at 1:08 pm #205571Why would he want to prove himself, eh Tash, when he could just go to Innocent City and have unlimited funds to buy whatever he wants??
But seriously, I blame Grealish for last night… π
But double seriously, I think it’s a toss up between Poncho and Louise, be somewhat surprised and a little disappointed if it ends up being anybody else… I think only those two have a chance of keeping Sir Super Harry and signing anybody else is pretty much admitting we’re going for a “re-build” rather than a “tinker” with what we’ve got… and with all the financially doped clubs around, a re-build is going pretty much going to cement ourselves in that 5-7th palce for years (if we’re lucky!)

24th March 2023 at 1:49 pm #205572Haha Chuckles π Trouble is nowadays there’s a we want instant success now.
Wouldn’t it be better if the up and coming managers ala De Zerbi, Kompany, Heckingbottom & Carricks of this world stay 3 or 4 years with there clubs before jumping into the unknown.
Palace bringing back Roy Hodgson smacks of desparation to me.
I’m suprised none of the big boys haven’t gone for the Brentford manager. He’s proven himself enough
in the top league in the world for me.Getting back to Spuds. If Conte walks I’d be tempted to give it to Cristian Stellini till the end of the season. When Conte was in Italy recovering from his operation.Stellini was outstanding.Did they even lose a game?
Another option possibly the River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo? He’s highly thought of.I can only see him replacing Carlo Anceloti at Real Madrid atm
I wonder when Saint Totteringham’s Day will be this year ? π

25th March 2023 at 11:03 am #205577Hmmm, taken aback by that? Bayern are top and in a crucial part of the CL so why have they dismissed their manager. Tuchel definitely has tactical nous in Europe; but he was to face Man City and or Real Madrid??

25th March 2023 at 11:45 am #205579Thing is with the range of different managers Spurs have had from Poch to Mourinho, neither won a trophy. It may just *feel* better with someone like Poch who perhaps played a more exciting brand of football, but have the root problems changed? As Keane has said over the years, there is something in the DNA of the club that keeps flattering to deceive. If you look back to when they last won a trophy under Ramos in 2008, they never kicked on from it. So there is a cultural problem there. So you can see the logic on the surface of things with Levy installing Mourinho & Conte – league winning managers to try and install a winning mentality, though they were never the right fit for me – they needed to be at established clubs. This cultural problem is going to take some time to change and there’s a press conference from Poch when he was at Spurs actually spelling out this problem that the club needed to attract players to the club to actually win trophies, though I was never fully convinced of Poch to be honest. If you look at Arteta at Arsenal, yes, he’s obviously got something about him – but the most important part I suspect is that he’s changed the culture of that club and made brave decisions to get rid of some players and identified the right ones with the right mentality to come in. Whereas with Poch again or potentially Nagelsmann, I just think it’s going to be rinse and repeat with Spurs, i.e. playing nice entertaining football, but no trophies to show for it. That’s the DNA they have to change. And it can’t just be solved by more money.

26th March 2023 at 9:27 am #205580PPT, why the need to make it a club rivalry thing? It was a poor miss from Grealish. It would have been 3-0 had he put it away. Silly from Shaw too and Maguire was poor for the goal. I’ll make sure to add one criticism of each Utd player for every City player I criticise going forward ππ. I couldn’t care less about club rivalries when it comes to England playing. More than happy to cheer on City/Liverpool players or anyone else. Just want the best team out.

26th March 2023 at 9:37 am #205581Good post Mikus re Spurs. Spurs are very much like Everton who have also had managers and players who have succeeded elsewhere before and/or after joining Everton. There’s something about the culture of both those clubs whereby there’s just an ingrained acceptance of mediocrity. The answer is seemingly not trying to change that culture overnight with established managers like Jose, Conte, Ancelotti etc. A culture change requires immense patience, a solid plan and the right people. All of which Arsenal seem to have got right.

26th March 2023 at 12:01 pm #205583Nagelsmann fell out with Neuer by sacking his coach and best mate once Neuer got injured for the season. Neuer is a big player in the dressing room.
