5th March 2023 at 7:01 pm #205025Did you have the same moan when it was City being talked up about the quadruple? Don’t remember you coming on here and complaining about it then? Enjoy kicking us while you’re down but at least be consistent GJ.

5th March 2023 at 7:02 pm #205027What was mentioned Gjblues? That utd were technically playing for 4 trophies and have one in bag? Name one person backing them for quadruple?

5th March 2023 at 7:25 pm #205028This may help answer a few quadruple claims. Looks like Paul Scholes said βit was still onβ a few weeks ago.

5th March 2023 at 7:30 pm #205029Well he wasn’t wrong as we were the only side still competing on all fronts. Not a chance anyone was seriously backing us to do it though. Ridiculous to suggest otherwise. Any team being left as the sole competitor in all the competitions is going to be the subject of talk about it as it’s such a big feat which has never been accomplished before, albeit it wouldn’t have been THE quadruple anyway, merely A quadruple. Was never, ever on, regardless. The manager’s been there less than a year.

5th March 2023 at 7:39 pm #205030GJblue is correct, some were saying United had a chance of winning 4. But this is no different to some saying City will win 4 or Liverpool last season.
I thought it was far fetched considering United are 14 points behind Arsenal.
United literally got torn apart today. But it was coming. Recently United have flattered to deceive. West Ham should have been 3 nil at half time on Wednesday and Newcastle had their chances last Sunday for example.
The biggest challenge now is how United respond to this result and performance. Is it the kick up the back side that they needed or will it fall apart.
Congratulations to the Liverpool lads on here.

5th March 2023 at 8:00 pm #205031Utd have chance of quadruple like chelsea have chance of winning champs league. Sure the media will play it all up but someone show me someone who said they believed utd will win quadruple and I will show you someone whose only brain cell is about to die of loneliness.

5th March 2023 at 8:35 pm #205032Lucky, unfortunately mate, the industry is littered with social climbers who have most probably blagged their way in. Let’s face, there are loads more platforms than 20 years ago to get yourself on the radar, and be noticed. Woke culture.
So what essentially happens is somebody will say something in the moment and these people will latch on and buy into it. I’ve stood by my own assertion from the start about United winning a trophy and a CL qualification which they’ve achieved one and still in good stead for another.
I’m made up, but at the same time, I’m at peace; feels just a tad anxious because I know what this industry is like. We have Bournemouth away next Saturday lunch time and we have to be ready. They are fighting for their lives, so there’s no real need for us to gloat about today and get carried away. I don’t believe we’re back on those levels because of the loss of Mane and certain players’ form in decline.
That’s perfectly understandable and we need to accept our situation and deal with it. Just hope for a respectable effort and result against Real and try and gather some momentum over the up and coming weeks.

5th March 2023 at 8:36 pm #205033Hearing the Fernandes asked to be subbed off, is this true? And he was captain wasnt he?
At the end of the besides a bit of a hammering to the goal difference its just a loss at a place where most teams struggle. Utd are still having a very good season, especially after the last few and will return to the CL next season which must have been their target. They havn’t been in the title race this season and any talk of that was just foolish giddy comments from ex-players but they have shown signs they could be in the mix next season.
We clicked and everything fell into place. It happens, especially at Anfield.

5th March 2023 at 8:36 pm #205034Its interesting more of the bigger teams are having big scores against them in more recent years. Iβm just currently reading a biography of Klopp and his football philosophy and the thing is now with all this high pressing weβre seeing is that a team only needs to be 5% down and it can have a dramatic effect on the team as a whole and it can leave big gaps as for it to work effectively, *everyone* has to do their job.
In other words, when the wheels do come off, they come off spectacularly.

5th March 2023 at 8:48 pm #205036I’ve expressed my views on that player elsewhere with a lot of likes, 3ps. All he does is whinge, make facial expressions, surround the referee, and feign injury. Aside Ronaldo, I never seen such a cry-baby in my life. Please sell him. He is nearly worse than El Hadji Diouf!!!!!

5th March 2023 at 8:49 pm #205037That’s it Mikus. Liverpool were done over like that at Villa not long ago. It happens. Liverpool themselves were also battered in a similar fashion by a struggling Madrid side at their own place only recently.
We’re clearly a work in progress and reacted very well to setbacks so far this season, namely the Brentford and the Man City hammerings. We move on. It’s never nice to get hammered but a CL spot and a trophy would have been a great season for us for Ten Hag’s first and we’re halfway there already with a CL spot very much within grasp.

5th March 2023 at 11:09 pm #205061Just watched Tifo analysis of the game.
They talked about utds out of possession structure and how it is the same as bielsa. They go man for man but have 2 centre backs against the striker meaning they have to leave someone free and depending on the side the ball is on they will leave one of the opposition full backs free.
The problem is that when you make it a game of one on one battles you need to be winning them, and if you don’t games can get away from you.
Seems a risky tactic to be fair against a team as lethal on break as pool. However it does seem effective at preventing most teams in this league from creating many chances against them.
Important for utd to kick on from this and their consistency to date makes me think they will. They don’t score much but they win a lot and today was an exceptional result.

6th March 2023 at 8:29 am #205067Difficult one to believe yday when the goals just kept pouring in. Thought we dominated the ball first 25 min but utd created the best chances. When fabhino plays well , the whole team plays well. We won the midfield battle easily in the 2nd half and was really surprised at how quickly utd fell apart.
Bruno was a disgrace. Not running back at one time. Salah have Martinez and shaw an awful time. Freak of a result. You have to enjoy it as a Liverpool fan but still have a long way to go.
Utd will bounce back. They have done really well this season. It was one of those days everything fell into place. Hopefully we can kick on now. Gakpo playing the nine role really well now and NuΓ±ez has all the attributes to be a top player. Our frontline is sorted for a few years. Absolutely no way should we get carried away after yday.

6th March 2023 at 9:02 am #205074Sean you’re right about Liverpool play well when Fab plays well but look in detail at the midfield and you’ll see why Fabinho has improved. They are all a lot closer and the Trent underlap/Henderson out to the wing thing seems to have been abandoned. When we lost possession that tactic left us so wide open and Fabinho acres of space to cover when running isn’t his strong point! Much tighter and much better team pressing.
Nunez looked a bit subdued in the first half I assumed the effects of the shoulder injury but he is looking good on the left. You said previous that he needs to be closer to the goal but I disagree, look at what Salah does from a similar position on the right. With Gakpo really taking the Bobby role well it gives both wide players plenty of space to use their pace and Nunez has buckets of that.

6th March 2023 at 9:07 am #205075It still hasn’t quite sunk in, but Liverpool definitely deserve credit for that. Naturally for the sake of unearthing discussion, the negative is drawn out first on Man United. To be fair to a degree, it’s understandable. I had no incline in my mind prior to the match of winning 1-0 let alone anything beyond.
We need to be able to win back-back matches with good performances. Nunez and Gakpo are finally beginning to gel, but much of that has to take shape from everybody else bringing their A game which to be fair did, and big plusses in players giving the energy and tracking back not just for 20 minutes, but for 90.
Felt like a classic mid-90s encounter.
