Liverpool did well to come away with a point last night and given their goal maybe it should be viewed as apoint gained than two points dropped there will be lots of twists and turns to come and Liverpool are still in a great position with a 3 point lead.
None of the three title contenders are playing particularly well at the moment and I say that with great trepidation with a visit to the Etihad to come for Chelsea on Sunday.
I really can’t understand some of the gloom and doom from the Liverpool lads on here had anyone offered you to be where you are now at the beginning of the season you would have snatched their hands off you’ve lost just one game for goodness sake.
The Liverpool squad is stretched currently but why did Klopp let Clyne and Solanke join Bournemouth?
And all this talk of we haven’t won it for so long, there are Club’s that have gone much longer in not winning a title mine included and there are football fans who have never seen their Club challenge for a title let alone win one and probably never will.
Liverpool fans are privileged to support one of the great Club’s of English football and your Club is right in there fighting for the title this season you’re in a privileged position as fans that very few football fans get to experience some of whom travel all over the country supporting their teams even if ultimately you don’t win it.
Be glad for where you are the football you’ve played and the fact that you’ve lost just one game all season and may very well go on to win the title too.

5th February 2019 at 9:46 am #32940Oz, don’t take this the wrong way mate, but seems your mind’s made up even before the fixtures are out.
It seems to give the impression and set a precedent for millions of other Pool supporters to either settle for second best long term or simply don’t bother at all.
Squad depth compared to Manchester City has been a challenge and we know they can ‘stockpile’ better than anyone, but it doesn’t and shouldn’t erase total hope and optimism. You can still try.
We’re actually 3 points ahead with same amount of games played. I expect City to leapfrog us, but that’ll likely to be restored on Sat.
Those 3 points we can use up with a afforded defeat to United which might be likely, and it’s likely at some point, we’d lose another game.
We have so far done exceptionally well to come this far. Supporters like me feel aggrieved there’s no Silverware to show for our progress under Klopp and that’s why we feel really disheartened.
But never have we thrown the towel or given up. If you’re in the dressing room with the team, you’d do everything to gee them up with hope and optimism.
Even if we’re on even keel with same points, but better goal difference, it would only take City to win narrowly one game and Liverpool to win by 4 or 5 the next, and that would change.
We’re not incredibly far away from reaching full strength, just need to get through February. I know yesterday was a set back, but nothing yet has been decided. It’s still in our hands.

5th February 2019 at 9:50 am #32941Not really doom and gloom nine. People are just saying what they think will happen and it is happening
I think once city a few points ahead they wonโt be caught
We shoukd have lost last night and no idea what klopp is moaning about.
We look so flat and all over the place at the back. This blip was coming but letโs see if we can bounce back
City will win their next two games. Iโm confident we will beat Bournemouth
We be behind on gd Sunday night meaning we need to go to ot and not lose.
Our record at ot is terrible and I think we be lucky to get a draw the way we are pmwying at min

5th February 2019 at 10:30 am #32942Just listened to Klopp’s after match comments about the referee “making up” for a mistake giving West Ham the balance of decisions. I think he is probably correct. Milner was offside and the ref knew it. Why didnt he give it? Who knows. But refs DO try and make up for earlier mistakes – absolutely no doubt. I hope VAR will get rid of most of this.

5th February 2019 at 10:50 am #32943Adlab thatโs the point mate, we wonโt match c$tyโs results, we havenโt played well for a long time & our lack of depth in certain areas is catching up with us as the season rolls on. We have been pretty lucky in a few occasions & thatโs also come to an end.
Nil all good mate I know what your saying but you canโt hide from reality, our lack of depth in comparison to c$ty is starting to show already. As for us winning by 4 or 5, weโll thatโs just not going to happen.
I get some of you think Iโm giving up or whatever but being honest we arenโt playing well & havenโt for a while. Itโs just being honest lads, Iโve said it would happen all season & coming to the stage of the season where depth plays a part, hence us dropping off the pace.
Anyway we are going round in circles here, letโs just see who is right over the next few weeks. See how we are after the manu game, my prediction is we wonโt be on top after that game & we will skip further behind in the coming weeks._____________________________

5th February 2019 at 10:59 am #32944Nine just like being 8 or 10 ahead before Christmas doesnโt mean jack all, nor does being 3 ahead with over a dozen games to go. You say you donโt get the doom & gloom ( I call it reality) tell me this, do you think Liverpool are playing well at the moment? Do you honestly think Liverpool will win it. We simply arenโt playing well & this happens all the time. Look like world beaters then capitulate. We just wonโt match c$ty on the run in. Iโm not bitter about it, Iโm pretty sure most expected c$ty to win it so itโs not like itโll be a shock when it happens.

5th February 2019 at 11:12 am #32945Klopp canโt moan about anything, we didnโt deserve to win, in fact I thought we were fortunate to get a point. Westham are unpredictable & deserved at least a point. I think Klopp is getting frustrated because he can see that once impressive lead being eaten away & he knows c$ty wonโt drop many more points & we are playing pretty badly with no improvement in sight.

5th February 2019 at 11:26 am #32947Oz, tbh mate I don’t think any of the three contenders are playing particularly well City have just lost to Newcastle for instance and Spurs are scrambling last minute wins albeit they are missing three players.
If I had offered you Liverpool’s position now before the season started would you have taken it? I think you would 25 games gone and only one defeat is remarkable.
I do think that psychologically the pendulum has swung a bit in City’s favour and it might well depend on how Liverpool react to that but right now it’s too close to call imo both of you have to go to OT so those fixtures could be decisive still all to play for imo but I’ve swung from City will win it to Liverpool will win it and now I can’t decide although I think Spurs remain the outsiders.

5th February 2019 at 11:33 am #32948Sean, I totally get where you’re coming from mate. I think the two games at OT could be crucial. Really difficult to call how it will finish now but after City losing to Newcastle they were there for the taking and now the momentum has swung around a bit in City’s favour.

5th February 2019 at 1:00 pm #32949AnonymousI think it’s a huge advantage to have been in a title race before. City probably have the edge there a more of their players have had more recent experiences of that. But Leicester have shown it’s not always the case.
I think if either of the teams at the top can put together a mini run of 3-4 wins on the spin then you might see one of them pull away.
Surprised with some of the names on Liverpool’s bench last night, shows a lack of depth of quality imo. City certainly have the upper hand on that score.

5th February 2019 at 2:32 pm #32950Who knows but it makes it more interesting and dont discount Spurs. They are right there.
If we win on Sunday and Utd certainly will v a poor Fulham They will go into 4th spot. All to play for with 1/3 of the season to go yet.
I agree with other posts that squad depth may be a significant factor yet,_____________________________

5th February 2019 at 4:10 pm #32955AnonymousI too have absolutely no bloody idea why Klopp was giving out. We are playing terribly and will continue to play terribly. Nine, the whole “you’d have loved to be in this position ” thing does what exactly? Of course we’d have loved to only have lost 1 game by this time etc etc but it doesn’t change the fact that we’re throwing it away right now.
I’m calling the title for City. We don’t have the defence to win the PL and Gomez will be out for at least another month. By that time City will be over the horizon.
I have to say though that I’m disappointed in the teams mentality. They seemed very self-assured but it’s completely evaporated now. You won’t win anything without the mental strength to win last nights match, or the previous one.
It’s endless disappointment.

5th February 2019 at 4:54 pm #32956Oz, it seems you’re happier than when we last spoke. I think this conversation being exercised to a fair bit, I do feel we have been a little hard on ourselves given our position.
We are still in the lead so whatever’s took place recently just needs to be pit at the back our minds.
We’ll come good mate and at the ver least be very close to the finishing line. It’s never about who is proved right or wrong on here but ultimately about an aspiration to succeed. Chin up mateโฝ๏ธ?

5th February 2019 at 5:38 pm #32958Very, very disappointing last night, but somewhat predictable. Since the defeat to City at the beginning of last month, we’ve looked very ordinary…devoid of confidence, imagination and most worryingly, fight. Even our most reliable players, VVD, Robbo and Salah, have been poor recently, and with each game that they are absent, the reputations of Trent, Gomez, Hendo and Gini, not to mention the Ox, continues to rise. We were lucky to get a point last night, and while the bare facts of the table say we are still in pole position, the reality is that we have 3 days to get it together and sort ourselves out. I haven’t given up, and nor should any Liverpool fan, but it is beginning to slip away.

5th February 2019 at 6:12 pm #32959HH, the lack of fight is the real worry, and itโs not just a very new phenomenon. In the match vs City, they clearly wanted it more. That was unforgivable. We are not ruthless enough and being ruthless is the hallmark of champions. I donโt know. Iโm starting to wonder if it might take us having to drop back down to 2nd/3rd spot for us to wake up. It really shouldnโt do. I thought we were better than that. And as for the having injuries, West Ham were also without many key players last night. So we canโt use that excuse. I just worry Klopp isnโt ruthless enough. I look at other managers from Fergie, to Mourinho (in better days), Conte and Guardiola more recently, and I see ruthless winners.

5th February 2019 at 6:43 pm #32962The pendulum has definitely swung City’s way. After City lost to Newcastle Liverpool had the chance to deal them a fatal blow and they missed it which will have the City players up.
Still if Chelsea beat City on Sunday it could swing back in Liverpool’s favour.?
