another bloody draw for us not easy away to Burnly tho, what i wouldnt give for some β1-0 to the Arsenalβ!!
Pretty sure a heard a few rounds of “same old Arseanl, always cheating!”… would that do for now?? π
Only saw the 2nd half of the game, but I reckon your lot were lucky to get even a point, Burnley created a hat-full of decent chances and are probably kicking themselves (or trying too, probably missed those too!).

3rd February 2020 at 11:32 am #67412The question was asked,,,did Spurs deserve to win? Of course they did, before we fall back into the tribalism I have often stated I go to watch a football match. I enjoy a good defensive performance as much as an offensive one. Mak, eluded to a mentality problem with City players and I think he is right. The mojo has not returned yet but it will. Spurs will get better but Jose has his plan to do that and must be given time, certainly more than Utd gave him. I am not concerned about the EPL either, I think the standard is high, it is only the salary structure that bugs me

3rd February 2020 at 12:59 pm #67419AnonymousBrian, Said it after Spurs Watford, Jose would be loving the clean sheet. I reckon he’s absolutely self vindicating himself in the middle of Spurs training ground with a megaphone right now. Great result for Spurs, ominous for Chelsea. We really need to tighten up defense or we’ll slip out of the top four…
United next is a behemoth of a game.

3rd February 2020 at 6:47 pm #67438AnonymousBrian, it can’t be easy to motivate yourselves after you’ve already bagged back to back PL titles. It’s bloody easy for Liverpool to be motivated for it, we’ve not won it in 3 decades. The CL win last season gave the squad the last thing that they needed for another run at the title, belief. It was a massive validation of their efforts, something needed after missing out with 97 points.
I mean, who knows, maybe we won’t get more than 97 points but you’d still say that if we had City breathing down our necks that the motivation would be there to shatter that club record. Bayern won the bundeslige by record points one season recently but once it was confirmed with 6 or so games to go, they lost 3 in the run in. They were I think also chasing an undefeated season but without being chased, they eased off the gas once they had secured the title and we might see the same with Liverpool.
City will have that urgency for the CL and I think they’ll give real a fair game. I’ve read an awful lot of opinions about this PL season and there’s one general feeling that I’ve taken away from it all that may suit City. It’s that an awful lot of non-PL fans and even quite a few PL fans consider the PL to be a weak league because Liverpool have run away with it. There are just a huge amount of Real fans out there and quite a few of them don’t seem to be worried about City. There’s complacency in the fanbase, maybe even arrogance TBH and this can be useful for City heading into the KO’s.
Personally, I’d love to be drawn against Real at some stage, so we can have our vengeance. I may no longer be bitter about that final but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have to set them straight… at the same time, it would be good for the PL’s reputation abroad for City to smash them.
You will have to sharpen up your efforts in front of goal and tighten up the defence though, or you’re going to have a bad day.

Signing off the PL (I know ha) thread for GW 25 for myself, some very encouraging signs from Southampton. They were great and I have to look up their manager cause he came across very well in the interviews. People are saying good things about his personality. So, there is hope for another one of these clubs to make a bit of a break-through, which I love to see. I go on about Wolves and Leicester but with Ings at Southampton, they are a club that I’ll have an eye on from here. I’ve always rated Ings’ talents and it’ll be great for him if he can see the season out without injury problems etc.
