Wolves will feel a bit hard done by as they probably deserved a draw on the balance of play.
Liverpool weren’t quite at their best tonight but still won even without Mane on the pitch doing Chelsea a bit of a favour at the same time.?

23rd January 2020 at 10:05 pm #61519AnonymousMikus, I think a lot of praise needs to go towards Wolves. They were brilliant and it’s kinda shocking that they aren’t higher up the table. I know teams maybe sit back against them and it might not suit them.. but find a way.
I’m just so relieved to get through this. I usually see us winning but tonight I didnt. I’;m talking about when the game was closing in and it was 1-1, I thought we were more likely to lose and I think thats the first time I’ve felt that, this season. We definitely had some tough games that i think we so so nearly drew but ya…
Props to the lads for making it happen. I see some problems with our attacking play but for whatever reason, we still work. Let’s hope Mane isn’t out for long. I don’t wanna be harsh on the new guy, he must have been so nervous.. but he was out of his depth a bit.

23rd January 2020 at 10:12 pm #61523AnonymousNine, we kinda scored against the run of play, or… close enough. They can feel hard done by but we’ve got an amazing keeper. He just has great instincts. It was odd to see him flap at a few but they were super awkward.
Anyway, I think we have a problem position to sort out this summer. I’ve questioned both Oxlade and Keita on here before but I think it’s time to sell them both and get someone in who is of a higher quality. Neither of them are good enough to nbe starters for this side. I know people might disagree but this is my opinion and ya, they have their moments for sure but are they well rounded enough? Are they able to stay fit?
I don’t understand why Klopp starts Oxlade over Lallana. He’s a much better player and is actually fit. Does he not want to convince him to stay or what? Is Milner injured also or? Cause he’d be a better choice too. Milner put on a through ball, Oxlade’s vision is just not good.

23rd January 2020 at 11:05 pm #61538Pleased Liverpool beat Wolves which helped Chelsea maintain their 6 point lead in 4th place (I think we might need all of them going forwards?) just a shame it meant Liverpool also matched Chelsea’s 40 game unbeaten PL record too.

23rd January 2020 at 11:14 pm #61541Liverpool not only has the best Keeper and the best CB in the world in Allison and Van Dijk. but also the best two full-backs, and the deadliest football front trio since MSN in Barcelona in 2014/15. they have the best coach in the world currently. while their midfield is still average, they are hard workers. and that is what made it possible for them to succeed and go this unbeaten streak. congratulations to all Liverpool fans here Nil, Sean, Mak, HH, 3ps. enjoy your season and the PL title at the end of the season. I hope you stay grounded as you are now.

24th January 2020 at 7:24 am #61629AnonymousThanks Chelseaman and Nine. I hope that people are starting to see why I rate Gomez so highly though also. Since he has come back into the team, that was the first goal scored against us in 12 hours+ in the PL. It’s kinda impossible for someone like him to get any credit alongside Van Dijk but he played every bit as good as him last night. Could he have done better for the goal? Perhaps. I don’t really assign blame for it though, rather than just say that it was a brilliant goal.
It was such a tough game and I knew it would be after the pretty recent Anfield tie. Wolves have character and guile, they’ve got themselves a great manager and I think Klopp had to change his system 3 times last night, in order to get a result. This was one time where I couldn’t see that inevitable Liverpool winner coming and thought we were in trouble. Credit to the lads for turning into the waves and once again, taking all 3 points.

24th January 2020 at 8:20 am #61641Mak – did you not see how poor Lallana was when he came on against Utd on Sunday?

24th January 2020 at 8:21 am #61642Chelseaman = have to pull you up on you saying that the Liverpool midfield is ‘avarage’. Can’t have that I’m afraid. Hendo in the form of his career

24th January 2020 at 9:31 am #61655I thought Henderson was outstanding last night. But I don’t think the midfield is on par with Liverpools attack and defence which was Cman’s point I think and I suspect the midfield might get a bit of attention from Klopp in the Summer which would take Liverpool up to yet another level

24th January 2020 at 10:03 am #61665AnonymousHH, my stream was far from stable for the Utd game but Lallana has looked pretty good when he’s been utilized previously. I don’t think he’s the perfect solution, just a better player than Oxlade.
There are 3 midfielders who’s futures we need to look at though in the summer. I know Keita has had some good games here or there but on the whole, I don’t think he’s good enough. Oxlade has a cracking shot on him when he’s on form and is definitely not a bad player but I don’t think his general game is up to the standard we require. Then there is Lallana himself, who’s fitness can’t be relied upon but he’s going on a free transfer this summer anyway.
Henderson has upped his game ever since Fabinho joined and I would now say he’s definitely worthy of a place in the starting 11. A midfield of Wijnaldum – Fabinho – Hendo can be very solid but also, it can be very flat. It’s definitely the best that we have right now but sometimes you need another tool for the job, as Keita and Oxlade were meant to be and of course there is also rotation.
If I were Klopp, I’d let these 3 lads go and replace them as is required.

24th January 2020 at 10:17 am #61671AnonymousHa, I wrote that before reading your post Nine, so we kinda seem to agree.
A fully fit Fabinho is a great player, Wijnaldum is a great player and Hendo is currently playing like a great player. The combination might not be what we need though, perhaps. Or it is. There’s nothing flashy about Wijnaldum but you try and dispossess him. He’s got incredible heart and I think he’s very clever. Fabinho is a fantastic DM and Henderson is supplementing our forward play WAY more these days.
Maybe we don’t need a KDB or a David Silva and instead we do need these 3 hard working sons of beaches. I would definitely like to see us get a real go getter midfielder in the summer though all the same. Keita keeps nobody on their toes and honestly, if we have him coming off the bench next season when we need a goal, my confidence won’t get a major boost.
If I were to keep one of the 3, it’d be Oxlade but he’d be a squad player. I said the same about Hendo 18 months ago and look how times have changed. Maybe Oxlade can do something similar? I’ll trust that Klopp knows best but I think most likely he signs a top midfielder this summer.

24th January 2020 at 1:01 pm #61715Our midfield is excellent and works perfectly as part of a well drilled side.
Winjildium is an absolute beast of a player
That was a really tough game. Wolves are an excellent side. I would have taken a draw
Mak, disagree about firminio mate.
Heβs played very well at times this season. Started off brilliantly then had a bit of a lull but heβs scoring big big goals now
Heβs a world class player and I think heβs having a very good season.
An absolute star in our team

24th January 2020 at 1:07 pm #61716If you wanted to develop Liverpool still further though Sean where would you focus one to eleven?
Both the defensive 5 and the front three look to be almost beyond improvement currently imo.

24th January 2020 at 5:26 pm #61785Good question nine. Iβd take kdb and Kante mate ?
I love winjidium. Always have from day one. Does so much for the team. Absolutely delighted to see Henderson get some proper recognition now. Heβs becoming an inspirational captain. Milner is our best free signing ever. Ox is still way of fitness but is getting better. Keita always seems to get injured when heβs hitting form. Fabhino is top class.
We have some really good options in midfield mate. Curtis Jones looks like he is going to make it with us.
Hendo, Milner and Winji are all getting on age wise.
