From this angle, it’s hard to argue that Casemiro deserved the red even though I did initially believe he did from the angle shown on TV. Completely different perspective. Can’t blame the ref as he won’t have seen this one but looks a harsh decision to me which will hopefully be appealed now
Another Blonder from EPL VAR Officials. this is not a red card, @Casemiro was holding him off from the fight and they later laughed and hugged each other…@Evra @GNev2 @EplPidgin @D_DeGea @MarcusRashford @Rasheedat08 @B_Fernandes8 @LukeShaw23 @antony00 pic.twitter.com/KL0ZXXMuIR

5th February 2023 at 8:53 am #203743Difficult to know what’s really behind such a dramatic decline at Liverpool on MOTD they questioned whether the players were still listening to Klopp.
I don’t think Klopp will be sacked I think if he goes it will be his choice.

5th February 2023 at 9:32 am #203745Never seen anything like this for a long time. WOW! Comical and Mickey Mouse Donald Duck as far as the first 2 goals go. We are schoolboys. We definitely can’t play football anymore. Nunez joined us at the wrong time and is cursed as nothing for go in for him.
Jurgen needs a break. It just looks like he’s lost the backing and support from more than one quarter.

5th February 2023 at 9:36 am #203746Just watched highlights Ed didn’t watch MOTD last night.
Yeah I sympathise bud. If it happened to chelsea player I would be pissed off but also bit annoyed with player. I don’t see any violent conduct really its just a scuffle, but with VAR I really think players need to wise up, not that it’s right that such calls are made but that they have a responsibility to mitigate the risk and not give any excuse as it is now clear even the slightest bit of nonsense will be picked up.
Don’t think any of us want to see players sent off and games spoiled over crap like this.

5th February 2023 at 9:50 am #203747Pretty sure the rules are pretty clear about hands to face/neck etc… namely being you don’t do it, full stop. I don’t think their’s a rating system or even a “chuckle afterwards” clause… any hands to that region of the body is a red card.

5th February 2023 at 9:50 am #203748In the Liverpool bossβ post-match press conference, James Pearce questioned how Liverpool prepare for games and Jurgen Kloppβs sideβs mentality, to which the German coach replied:
βItβs very difficult to talk to you to be 100% honest, I would prefer not to do that. You know why, for all the things you wrote. If somebody else wants to ask that question then Iβll answer it.β
Strange reaction from Klopp I guess it shows the pressure he’s under to react like that you’re going to get criticism when performances and results are so poor that goes with the territory.

5th February 2023 at 9:59 am #203749But then there should be consistency Chucky. Ayew does the same on Fred but it’s not even looked at. Why aren’t they looking at the whole scuffle when reviewing the incident on VAR?
Andrew Marriner and VAR ignore Ayew on Fred… π€ pic.twitter.com/vktlrbrYgM

5th February 2023 at 9:59 am #203750Yeah banjo the rules are black and white hence the players need to be smarter but I think reds for little scuffles like this does more harm than good

5th February 2023 at 10:03 am #203751I’m not sure if this is factual, but apparently, the reasoning behind Klopp choosing not to engage with this particular journalist was because of previous history; something written or spoken about prior to VVD’s transfer in which Klopp was accused of tapping up the player causing the move to be delayed and forcing Liverpool to pay more to Southampton.
He was ok continuing his post match talk with others; just not that particular journalist.

5th February 2023 at 10:15 am #203755Ultimately down to the Ref’s discretion and judgement but whether this was deemed as innocuous, why was the hands placed on the player’s neck/throat? It’s violation beyond your usual pushing and ‘argy-bargy’. If the Red Card was to be avoided, then the Ref should have had a conversation with Casemiro and laid down the law with a warning.

5th February 2023 at 10:21 am #203756Nil, I think in an ideal world its yellows for all involved and we get on with game, but it is what it is.

5th February 2023 at 10:21 am #203757For the record, I’m not necessarily saying it shouldn’t be a red for Casemiro. I’m saying if that’s a red then so is the Ayew one. You can’t have one without the other. Either it’s black and white or it’s about discretion
Casemiro can't do what he did – grabbing Will Hughes by the throat – and deserved the red card. But Jordan Ayew also grabbed Fred by the throat, albeit more briefly, and didn't get any punishment #mufc #cpfc

5th February 2023 at 10:22 am #203758Guys, not a 100%, just from what I’ve discovered online. I believe it’s James Pearce, but it’s not so much him, it’s who he is currently working for i.e. The Athletic.
I think in essence, Klopp might have uncovered things been written that’s either exaggerated or lies; possibly something along the lines with him falling out with the player/s. I think Pearce previous worked for the Echo. There may well have been history, thus Klopp basically trying to avoid contact with him.

5th February 2023 at 10:23 am #203759Itβs not that at all. Itβs James Pearce and comments from last week about subs and how shite we are in general
Very poor from Klopp. You take the rough with the smooth.

5th February 2023 at 10:26 am #203760Yeah, you’re probably right Lucky. I think there’s learning there for all parties ultimately in a smarter way to defuse such situation. It’s rabbit in head-lights stuff for the Ref once he sees a melee. Melees can often lead to one-to-one altercations. Bit of a chain reaction lol π

5th February 2023 at 10:32 am #203761Sean I fully agree mate. That comes with the territory. Not sure why this particular party has been hand picked. All that encourages is more fuel to the fire. It’s just people’s opinions at the end of the day.
I love Klopp and with him every step of the way. We won, so we just try and deal with losses too. It’s part of the journey of being a football supporter.
JK’s behaviour seems to have changed. I actually miss the Klopp that used to smile, laugh, make jokes; even miss his glasses! I don’t think it’s been quite the same since Covid. Looking back, I’m amazed we were in for the Quadruple last season, won 2 cups and came very close to snatching the League off Man City.
