Spurs played their perfect game and what an achievement by Kane. City off the boil again if Arsenal hold their nerve they should win the title. City just not the same this season.

Can’t understand Pep leaving KDB out and Haaland is completely isolated and hardly getting a kick. Really poor mistake by Rodri for the goal.

Maybe Conte should stay at home more often.😊

Why does Pep get so bitter in defeat? Always some snide comment at the opposition

Ed, good post (at 6.41 pm). Yes City do appear somewhat weaker. It’s all about work rate now with teams to wear down the opposition. But I think City, a bit like Liverpool, have not bought as well in their last 2 summer transfer windows and the success has perhaps made both teams a bit drunk with it so they start targeting more out and out no.9s to try and get even better or maybe getting tempted with luxury exciting signings rather than effective ones. Even years ago with Ronaldo and Rooney at Utd, my Utd friends always stressed that Rooney was the more important because of his work rate and that Ronaldo was more the icing on the cake. When he left it didn’t greatly affect them.

It’s a common theme that with success you start to forget the ingredients that got you there and so you then start declining.

First I’ve seen of that Ed (7:43). I had 606 on tonight and Pep’s interview was perfectly fine and gracious.

I think the shorter interviews with minimal questions are better handled, but once given time to process and allowing more thought, some inner thoughts or something in the moment slips out when asked. The bitterness will inevitably surface.

I’m not sure Mikus on the figure of speech of getting a bit drunk, Mikus. Liverpool’s problems are a lot deeper than City’s.

If you think in context, the amount of success achieved for the amount of years, sooner or later, that’s will change. Other teams will naturally have funds to bring in players and improve their own squads.

Tactically too, the style of play which effectively is of one dimension will be figured out in being able to counter-attack by other teams; that will include Haaland too.

Maybe criticism could be on Pep’s team selection when he has a good depth of players to choose and he’s choosing otherwise. The point of work rate is mentioned, but sometimes I think we’re expecting results to be churned out week in week out season after season and something inevitably will give as a bad day at the office.

There’s some truth in that nil, I just think when teams at the top start spending big on “hot property” shall we say, to me it’s a sign such teams are starting to lose focus. There’s nothing wrong with teams having an off season or two to rebuild, but that seems to be becoming unacceptable. That said, some of us suspected Haaland was bought more with the CL in mind, something that he may still help them deliver.

Bit salty from Pepe La Checkbook…

So, 5 games at the new place, 5 wins, 7 scored, 0 against… can we play you every week? πŸ™‚

Things are really not right at Anfield… totally agree with those who say Kloop deserves a crack at fixing it, but also agree with those who question he has the stomach for it… I don’t think for a second he’ll get his P45 from FSG, but I can see him resigning. Maybe not in the summer but if this “form” carries on into next season I can see it being a shitty christmas!

Stevo do you genuinely think Arsenal can go onto win the league?

I really had my doubts as I really thought city would embark on some mad run but it hasn’t happened yet

I think that’s down to pep and his tinkering. I’ve never city so poor in so many games on one season.

I still fancy city but they through a huge opportunity away yday. I just think Arsenal lack the experience and of city go back to 4-3-3 and play their best players, they can get a run of wins together

Liverpool were 8 points ahead and our lack of experience really cost us

It’s going to be interesting . Two ganes againest city will be the key

Akanji needs to be partnered with experience either Dias or La Porte, not Lewis.
