NP Nil, I do the same myself (regards to forgetting about an absent player). A good post there and yes, I remember the lack of depth really coming back to bite us. If you look at our options now and compare them to then, we’ve really come a long way. Could we do with more depth? I think there’s a good argument for I think 1 more player but I’d not have a defender come in. We’ve got 4 defenders injured now and we’re still dealing with it fairly well but if the same happened in attack, we’d be utterly ****ed. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, challenge for PL title completely over.
It’ll always go back to Klopp though. FSG seem to have complete faith in him and Edwards and for good reason. They get the best out of FSG’s investment. Klopp doesn’t want a squad that he has to struggle to keep happy though. I mean, he did want to bring in Fekir and this is something we may see addressed in the summer but of course with a different player. I’m happy that we went for Alisson instead though (seems to be what happened anyway).
It is going to be tough for us all to be sweating over the fitness of our attackers but that is how it is and we’ve got to accept it. Maybe there will come a time this season where I am saying “How did we think we could challenge without signing an attacker”, or the like. It wont ever be perfect but honestly, it sometimes feels like it’s close. Remember where this club has risen from in recent years and enjoy the ride to (hopefully) the top. It may take more time than we want but I think it’ll happen.

16th January 2019 at 9:18 am #31415Oz, City lost three PL games in a matter of a couple of weeks that wouldn’t have happened imo had they not been without so many of their key players.
Nil, Kompany can’t replace Mendy Kompany is a Centre Back who has very limited pace Mendy is a pacy attacking left back.
There are some players if lost to injury that are impossible to replace Harry Kane at Spurs for instance who is now out for 6 to 8 weeks and without him Spurs win record drops to 39%.

16th January 2019 at 10:34 am #31418Nine my point is they’ve been without a number of top players for a while yet are only just behind a team that’s had its best ever start to a season, losing only once just after the new year. The bottom line is They cope with injuries better than anyone because they’ve bought depth that no one else can afford & that’s why they’ll more than likely win the EPL again & probably a couple of cups

16th January 2019 at 11:37 am #31423Oz,I agree with you that City are in a better position than everyone else to cope with injuries but in the end even they got found out you can’t be without players of the ilk they have and i not hamper you. De Bruyne read I last week has only started 5 games this season and it not have any effect on you there are played you can be by without and other you can’t and in the end it costs you.
But because of the squad they have they are still competing on all 4 fronts

16th January 2019 at 4:35 pm #31452I mentioned the issue of injuries in an earlier post. Kane out until March will hamper Spurs a bit. He is crucial to them. Injury can happen even in training so you never can tell.
Old cliche it is but it is important for any team to just play the next match and not think about future fixtures. It is clear that is drummed into the players by Pep and I am sure by Klopp and Poch.
I still think it is Liverpools to lose. If we were 4 points ahead I would fancy us strongly…but I always think of Gerrards slip and the Aguerrooooo moment. You can never tell._____________________________

16th January 2019 at 6:55 pm #31463Oz @ 10:35, cheers Oz.
For what it’s worth mate, I do fully get where you are coming from a lot of the time.
When I think about all the failures in recent years from Cup Finals and missing out on the League, it’s quite soul destroying and I understand why some fans just won’t get too carried away.
I believe Klopp is the one for us to stick it out, and do everything he can to change our misfortunes. We’ll just have to take it game by game mate.
