I see Pochettino has used the “this is football” excuse today adding that sometimes football is unfair. The facts say that Man Utd scored a goal and Spurs didn’t. Ok De Gea had a great game but some of Spurs’ finishing was still poor. But apparently football is unfair sometimes. Amazed how this excuse continually gets used unchallenged.

13th January 2019 at 7:30 pm #31286Utd had some really good chances aswell Mikus but I agree
Everything was at De Gea but it’s his positioning that makes it look so easy at times
It really was a great game. Rashford, pogba and martial look very dangerous
Ali and Kane have to burying their one on ones

13th January 2019 at 7:51 pm #31288I agree with Mikus poor finishing and some great saves from De Gea cost Spurs taking at least a point from that game.
It’s amazing that these are the same players at United that were playing under Mourinho playing a totally different game and seemingly rightly or wrongly they downed tools on Mourinho.
United are on a roll now under Ole and are definitely in with a real chance of finishing in the top 4, short term that might be good for United but I sense a Robbie Di Matteo situation brewing here Club legend comes back and delivers for the Club in the short term but not the right man to deliver in the medium to long term. We’ll see.
But Gareth Southgate forget England remember him as a Club Manager at Middlesbrough.
I was hoping for a Spurs win today for obvious reasons but Chelsea are only a point behind Spurs now in 3rd place and if we get a striker? ?
Re Garry Neville the best most unbiased pundit in the media imo.

13th January 2019 at 7:55 pm #31290All eyes turn to City v Wolves now on Monday night. 3-1 to City imo. Another good game for Monday night TV though.

13th January 2019 at 8:08 pm #31291Can I suggest the one thing Utd DONT want next season is Thursday night football. Looks like that might be likely. Better without it. Besides its a loss maker as v poor tv revenues.
Kane was not good today. Doesnt seem to do it often in big games – maybe I should say as often as he should.
Who will be Utd manager next season?

13th January 2019 at 8:22 pm #31292Adlab-Even 3rd is a possibility now,I reckon.Plenty of footy left and we have all of Pool,Chelsea and City to come to OT.We certainly have the squad to beat everyone, especially @ OT!

13th January 2019 at 8:24 pm #31293Yeah agree about Kane Adlab. He very rarely plays well against Utd. He was pretty good at OT earlier in the season but is usually very quiet against us.
Yeah Nine, there’s a real danger that Ole does too well, if that’s possible. Like with Di Matteo, he’ll then give them absolutely no choice but to give him the job which is surely not the right thing to do long term. Still, I won’t complain if Ole does a full Di Matteo, poor second season or not!

13th January 2019 at 9:02 pm #31295Mav well done for your win mate, and it’s a helping hand too for us.
confidence for you guys has elevated, there’s clear evidence of that.
Had a look at February Fixtures re City and Liverpool and early March United play both. There is Everton too and the second phase of the CL.
The first 6 really as far as the table goes speak for themselves as Everton, Leicester, Watford and maybe West Ham this season haven’t really been able to pull away or be consistent.
United have been on a very good run of late and deserve the plaudits. Sure they’ll be some tough tests, but Solskjaer so far seem to have got these players playing for them and deliver their full potential.

13th January 2019 at 9:07 pm #31296I think ole is the right man for the short term but not long term if that makes sense
I’d go all out for Allegri

13th January 2019 at 9:20 pm #31297Neville is also a fan and has an affiliation with United so he’s bound to show emotion and excitement – I get that.
Found this which is nearly 2 years old but honestly worth a watch – he gets together with a group from Arsenal TV, and really was first class in how he conducted himself

13th January 2019 at 9:27 pm #31298I think the Present Backroom Team is essential to providing Ole the tools and support he needs to do everything he can to get results and give the people upstairs something to think about.
It depends on the Direction the Club want to go; i.e. do they go for a ‘Stella’ name, and make a change if there isn’t something significant delivered within a short period of time, or do they ‘stick it out’ and be patient with somebody of the ilk of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
There’s resemblance to Liverpool and 1990/91 when Kenny called time and the club then went on a decline. United have won trophies, but have to accept a serious threat and proven pedigree in Man City.
It may take a few years to re-reach those heights of success once enjoyed, I could be completely wrong.

14th January 2019 at 8:05 am #312991st big test for manu & passed with flying colours, they’ll be very very hard to beat in a couple of weeks.
As for LFC another tough & very important win, yeah we might have got a bit of the rub of the green but I still think we deserved to win overall. Keeps the pressure on c$ty & whilst I don’t think they’ll falter we certainly look like making them work for it. We have a steel about us now & hopefully that will carry on as the season winds up. They say you need some luck to win the title & we are getting a bit, I just hope it doesn’t run out any time soon._____________________________

14th January 2019 at 11:47 am #31300Sean, completely agree with your last post on Ole. Allegri is the man we should try to get. With that said, I’d absolutely love to be proved wrong on Ole. Huge call for the board to make if we continue climbing up the table.

14th January 2019 at 11:47 am #31301Oz, how were we lucky against Brighton? Looked a pretty comfortable, controlled performance to me.

14th January 2019 at 12:40 pm #31302Whilst everyone is focussed on the top 6, the gap between the top 6 and the rest has now grown to 9 points. In 2017/18, the gap was also 9 points, in 2016/17 it was 8 points. This trend is showing no signs of reversing which is not surprising but still disheartening.

14th January 2019 at 1:37 pm #31303AnonymousLong way to go until the end of the season but if Ole does make top four then that gives the board a tough decision to make.
I would still try to get someone else in, regardless of where we end up, however it would be tough to decide he doesn’t deserve the job full time if he gets us top four this season.

14th January 2019 at 2:04 pm #31305That’s it Alfie. At the moment, there is no decision to be made. There’s barely a debate to be had, in reality. He could lose every one of his remaining games and we’d be back to looking for someone else, without a second’s hesitation. Or, as unlikely as it seems, he could win the CL, the FA Cup and come 3rd in the league and then the job is obviously his. It’s really too early to even think about it.
