Blaze, thought Harvetz and Mount should be starting these type of games. We way too weak upfront right now.

15th January 2022 at 1:53 pm #193462City running into players, instigating contact and then throwing themselves to the floor. Sterling probably the worst in the league for doing this. Grealish doing it too.

15th January 2022 at 1:59 pm #193463Get the feeling Chelsea might steal this.
Good chance there for Sterling. Lukaku will hurt himself chucking himself to the ground…

15th January 2022 at 2:30 pm #193467Think we just about deserved that.
My only question is why didn’t he play Mount?

15th January 2022 at 2:33 pm #193468Title race was over for a few weeks now. City will win nearly every year. Covid plays into their hands as they can simply swap one 60m player out for a 50m one. The league is going to be a bore for the foreseeable future. Once Klopp goes we won’t challenge and will fall back into the group scrapping for a CL spot.

15th January 2022 at 2:53 pm #193469Congrats on the win Adlab. Well deserved.
Sounds about right, Threeps. Could end up being quite damaging for the global interest in the league this, in the coming years.

15th January 2022 at 3:01 pm #193470I don’t think the EPL will ever lose it’s deep routed world wide interest, in fact it will grow irrespective who dominates.

15th January 2022 at 3:04 pm #193471Let’s not forget they may be the best team in the world but they only just managed to scrape a win against a weakened Chelsea team, so lots of competition around to play for. Other teams will be strengthening as well.

15th January 2022 at 3:48 pm #193472Spurs v Arsenal postponed. The PL have taken into account Covid, injuries and AFCON absentees?

15th January 2022 at 3:59 pm #193474Posters are obviously within their rights to voice opinion but the validity of comments from United and Liverpool fans about the competition in the PL is questionable – Liverpool won the title 8 times in 17 years in the 1970s and 1980s, and United won it 13 times in 20 years. At that time both clubs could have, pretty much, blown all others out of the water, financially.

15th January 2022 at 4:26 pm #193477Correction to the above, Liverpool won it 11 times in 18 years – my memory wasn’t what it used to be. Apologies to the Liverpool fans.

15th January 2022 at 4:39 pm #193478While describing the incident on commentary for Premier League Productions, former Liverpool player Jim Beglin made a small – potentially Freudian – slip when describing Manchester City’s stadium, before quickly correcting himself.
Popular co-commentator Beglin said: “You can hear the annoyance around the Emptyhad…I had mean Etihad.”
Beglin cleared things up after the game, tweeting: “I have the greatest respect for Manchester City Football Club. In no way was my verbal error today intended to cause City fans any offence.”
‘Emptyhad’ is a dig made by some opposition fans towards City, referencing an apparent inability to sell out the Etihad Stadium on certain occasions.
And it did not go unnoticed by a number of Liverpool fans watching the action:
City’s 1-0 win came thanks to a superb long-range strike from midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
The result leaves Pep Guardiola’s men 13 points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table.
City are now 14 points ahead of Liverpool, who are back in third.
The Reds currently have two games in hand on the league leaders and host Brentford at Anfield tomorrow

15th January 2022 at 5:06 pm #193482At the moment City have everything right – the recruitment team, the manager, the money, the owners. But you need all of them at the same time to absolutely dominate. When Pep leaves, City may well still have success but theyβll lose their dominance.
