“Yeah Sean I was one who went over the top in 2014 & Iβve been very reluctant to predict we will succeed since. ”
You were quite cautious now to be fair. I had been going on and on about how we were gonna do it and I eventually helped bring you to the dark side. I mean, amongst other things, like us trashing team after team. I think we all got swept away that year. it’s just not the same now, the fans have learned not to get too hyped until there is clear daylight. Ok, 7 points is reasonably clear daylight but since we are about to play them!.. well.

A good post that really underlines why we’re more cautious now, amongst what Oz said also. Last seaosns points record setting champions with 5 players inured, still being close. Those players are back now too.
I will say that some things are different though. The team have in my mind passed a variety of tests so far. it isn’t all about playing the top teams and we’ve ridden over the speed-bumps in our beat up old bus that we stole from Jose.
We didn’t have a strong spine in 13/14 but we do now. We also have stronger rivals though for sure. I’m still sitting on the fence. I’ve got a great view of both sides and the grass is equally green on both sides for now. Rain is coming though and I think i hear a mower being fired up π

2nd January 2019 at 2:50 pm #30685AnonymousIt’s showing that i liked my own post. I didn’t.
Anyway, Aussie, ya I can see us going with Hendo, Wijnaldum and either Milner or Fabinho. I’m not sure how fit Milner is but I definitely wouldn’t go with Keita. I think fabinho could play a “go at them” game. I do wonder how he will deal with City$ (oh look, the S is at it too!) intensity. Could Klopp start with Shaqiri? I mean I think he’s good enough to warrant it but he could also be a great boost to the team as an impact sub. The players already know how good he is and we may need that lift.
I think we’ve gotten good enough with the 4231 though that it wouldnt surprise me to see it, with Wijnaldum, Fabinho and then it’s down to either Firmino or Shaqiri, with Salah up top. It worked against Arsenal. Maybe he’ll employ it again.
Either way, both managers are extremely competent tactically. Both teams are near full strength and on the back of solid wins. The last was 0-0, I can’t see the same happening again. That was a bit of a stand-offish game. No wya that’s the case this time.

2nd January 2019 at 3:55 pm #30686Anonymouswhen did the liverpool fans on here become such a sensitive bunch. being accused of fucking slander. jesus you love an overreaction. yes, my comment to sean was based on his criticism of a spurs player (which i didnt disagree with or bitch and cry), but it was a criticism i think also stands for liverpool (“at least it used to”) and i backed it up by saying henderson received the third most bookings for dissent in the season i could last find the info for. you all think liverpool players are saints, but they arent. they are cheats just like spurs players, just like city, arsenal, chelsea, united, everton players, just like every fucking player. they dive, they shout at refs, they try and gain every advantage possible. salah dives and you all try and justify by saying someone else did it worse. what i also said was specifically with regards to dissent. you guys then went off on your own rants. if you’re telling me klopp doesnt shout at the ref or 4th official at all, then thats great. it would make you a liar but if it makes you feel better then so be it.

2nd January 2019 at 6:41 pm #30690AnonymousYep, be interesting to see how we do away from home at a place like Newcastle. Hopefully heβll set up to attack as he has in the othe three matches and we can get an early goal. Early goal is key.
Still suspect in defence but I think we should be able to outscore Newcastle.
Also be interesting to see how Sanchez does, if he gets to play a part. We should have more of the ball than normal, but he will still lose it a lot and we play through so many players whereas at Arsenal they were happy to go through him and Ozil so he had more ball to be effective with. If Ole can get him firing then the second half of the season will be fun.

2nd January 2019 at 6:55 pm #30691Mak@11:55am: All true Mak and it’s never over until it’s over. I think it will be important for Liverpool to avoid injuries to key players and I think injuries were a major contributor to the City loses v Palace and Leicester. I said a long while back that what impressed me most about Liverpool was their defence this season and I think Liverpool can cope with the fixtures you state and don’t forget City have some tough games to come too after Liverpool.
It will be interesting to see whether United continue in their current form but they’ve definitely had a bit of new Manager bounce under Ole and the fixtures have been helpful to them which has then added to their confidence but you’re right either way Liverpool away to United under any circumstances is a potentially difficult fixture.
My personal opinion on the title race is that a Liverpool win at the Etihad would make it really really tough for City to challenge them for the title from there but as you rightly say big leads have been turned around previously and this City team are quite capable of going on a long winning run. A draw would be a great result for Liverpool imo but that would leave City in with more of a chance of coming back at Liverpool although it would still be tough for City. A City win I think potentially opens up the title race but Liverpool would rightly still be favourites. Personally I can’t call Thursday night, try and enjoy it though buddie. Cheers 999

2nd January 2019 at 7:09 pm #30694Fixtures have been kind to utd but it just what happens when you give players a bit of freedom And let them express themselves.
Pogba is getting into positions he shoukd be in. Their big test be spurs away to see how far they have come but I. An see them finishing the season well. They have always had some very very good players

2nd January 2019 at 7:44 pm #30695Well Threeps I paid over 10,000 for a trip to the UK with the main objective being to see LFC play at Anfield so I guess you could say I do enjoy the build up. We got dusted 0-2 that day but I loved the experience. I love the fact we play every 3or 4 days this time of year (bet the players donβt).
We are half way through the season & with top players coming back from injury I genuinely still think c$ty will wear us down. I hope Iβm wrong mate, I really do but time will tell. Nervously excited about tomorrow though, itβs what you want to see, your team in a top of the table clash with the best squad in the comp. I wonβt panic if we donβt win but Iβll be the most excited fella down under if we win. Hopefully the machine keeps rolling on._____________________________

2nd January 2019 at 8:18 pm #30696Been at work all day today and working the New Year, so a bit of catching up on this thread and spending a little bit of time.
I definitely get previous history, on 2014 and 2008, but can’t really recall the club being in this type of position of ascendancy
On observation a little more to the point, I sense unhealthy-ness than healthiness just being able to enjoy the experience and journey.
Why should Pep feel the way he does? I don’t get that He’s an alright respectful guy. Factor in stakes and money, I note vividly the PRESSURE. That comes from talk talk, and one thought on top of another.
Some title races in history I’m sure have seen 1st position change hands which is a simple picture in my mind of how a head-to-head can pan out, with another team too joining in.

2nd January 2019 at 8:22 pm #30697And for all the recent Cup Finals or Title chases we have been in, you’d think at some point, it’s ‘OUR TURN’ and that we can finally nail something! Lol π
I truly hope though, Jurgen is with is for Generations as I love him π

2nd January 2019 at 8:25 pm #30698Was going to watch the footy tonight, but I have an interestingly weird day today, the sort of day you couldn’t quite make-up, so I need to go to bed and think about it…

2nd January 2019 at 9:31 pm #30700Not sure how Shelvey has stayed on the pitch there. Definite red if the ref sees it.

2nd January 2019 at 9:35 pm #30701If Utd see this out, this will be the biggest win of the lot under Ole as they’ve really had to grind it out. At times, it’s been end to end with some shaky moments at the back and at times it’s been all Utd against a very organised Newcastle backline.
I’ve a feeling we’ll not have enough to get anything at Spurs but we’ve a couple of decent home games after that which should get us back up and running again regardless of what happens at Wembley.

2nd January 2019 at 9:45 pm #30702Here’s the Shelvey incident. Absolutely no intention of going for the ball there. Not even a yellow!
Absolutely scandalous Shelvey hasn't been sent off for that. pic.twitter.com/5Y6HIAa7Zw

2nd January 2019 at 9:45 pm #30703At last, some passion on here!
For all my 10 years of being on a number of different Football Forums/Message Boards; what you want to perceive them as, I rarely see just somebody enjoy themselves after a result.
“I wont get carried away”. So can’t a person live for the moment and enjoy themselves in full?
That’s allowed in my book regardless in the Football Team you support.
