Southampton shoukd have had a pen at 1-1 but city steam rolled them
Once cities midfield 3 is kdb ferdhino and d Silva they will be very hard to beat
Bernardo Silva has been excellent this season though

2nd January 2019 at 1:02 pm #30654Salah went down way too easy for me & those that make excuses for players doing it are part of the reason it continues to happen. Players that dive are embarrassing & destroying the game & these excuses like ” any contact is a penalty” or “he held his shirt so it’s a foul” are kidding themselves. Yes it might be a foul going off the rules but the theatrics are a disgrace to the game, throwing your head back like you’ve been shot & laying on the ground wriggling around like you’ve got a compound fracture or the like because someone lightly bumped you is just ridiculous. As I said before I’d hate to see them in a big crowd of people, they wouldn’t get far hitting the deck all the time.

2nd January 2019 at 1:03 pm #30655I just never noticed Kane arguing as much as he does these days Paxton thatβs why I liked him. He just got on with it. Now heβs jumping around and moaning all the time.
Donβt like the chap. My opinion has changed. Think heβs top top class and your actualky right about his general play. Heβs world class , just donβt like him
Anymore._____________________________

2nd January 2019 at 1:08 pm #30656Yeah threeps I actually can’t wait to see Liverpool lose a game, I’ll go running around saying how happy I am. I only say stuff hoping I can say I’m right, not because we have continually messed up when in a good position or final in recent seasons or the fact c$ty have been without 4 or 5 of their best players for a while & are still close by. I actually can’t stand watching us play, I don’t enjoy the games at all or look forward to them, especially last year when we were scoring heaps of goals. Your so smart Threeps, you got me all figured out.

2nd January 2019 at 1:11 pm #30658Threeps, what do you want people to say mate? We will win the league? We havenβt won it for nearly 30 years. We have fucked it up royally a few times over the last few decades so itβs no wonder people are very guarded about going over the top
You had idiots wearing 19 times t shirts with 5 games left in 2014.
I think were cursed. Something always happens
Gerrard slip
Salah injury and Karius cl final
One nil up in Europa final totally in charge and we throw it away
Lost our last 4 finals
Klopp his last 6.No wonder many of us are sceptical
Iβm certainly enjoying the season but what does now count for? Being top? Absolutely nothing and we have won nothing and until we show we have the balks to go over the finish line , many of us will always have our doubts

2nd January 2019 at 1:17 pm #30659Just find you very boring that every match you say the same stuff, and every match you’ve been wrong. You very rarely justify anything, just negative crap every time.

2nd January 2019 at 1:36 pm #30663I think Thursdays game is an impossible call you could make a case for it going any of three ways a draw would be a massive result for Liverpool. They are the two best teams in the PL by a country mile and hopefully the game lives up to that and we don’t get any silly decisions from the officials.

2nd January 2019 at 1:36 pm #30664Anonymousoz – funnily enough i always used to think henderson was the worst for it. i cant give up to date stats as i cant find them but for the 16/17 season henderson received the third highest bookings for dissent. i believe that was the season the rules changed and gave the refs more power. maybe since then he has changed his tune but i do remember when i read about the rule change i was intrigued how it would affect liverpool and especially henderson as they used to hound the referee about every decision. maybe i saw it with tinted glasses on as liverpool arent my favourite team but it really used to wind me up.

2nd January 2019 at 1:44 pm #30668Anonymous“if you dont like kane because he argues with refs then you surely cant have any respect for any liverpool players or klopp. in my opinion, they are the worst for it, at least they used to be.”
I’m also going to pull you on your remarks about Liverpool and refs, Paxton. You’ve come into criticism of late from some on here and with comments like this, I can see why.
if you scour Youtube there are 1 or 2 incidents where Klopp has crossed the line with an official. There is one in particular where he outright ROARS into his face and that was way over the line. It’s not something I like to see, however he has apologized and not done it since. Now, that was a few years back. it was a pretty isolated incident but I’ve mentioned it to grant it, if you get me.
As for the team though, I’m sorry but your remark is the height of nonsense. Liverpool are one of the best, dare I say, if not THE best in the league when it comes to respect to officials. You’ve offhandedly slandered the club here and is it because Sean said he didn’t like Kane? Spurs have a growing reputation for being cheats and it’s guys like Kane who have earned and perpetuated this reputation. You might not want to hear it but that’s no reason to say something like this.
On Kane, I don’t like him and never have. from the first moment I saw him, I thought he LOOKED like an asshole. I didn’t know a thing about him then, so he could have been the nicest guy but look how that turned out π You guys know what i mean though? When someone just looks like they might be an asshole? Admit it, you know what I’m talking about.
Going to a more general thing though. I think it was maybe more Liverpool friendly while we were chasing the unstoppable City. Now that we’re in the lead, it’s changed. Spurs want the rivalry back. City are getting bitter. I don’t get it, in 13/14 I think Liverpool fans annoyed everyone with the whole “we’re gonna win the league!!!” while we were level on points, in November. I get that, I really really get how that could be annoying. Now, though, we’re massively reserved. 7 points ahead and just look at Oz saying that we won’t do it. Ok, Aussie is particularly cautious but I’ve yet to see a fan seriously say “we’ve got it”, or the like. We are really reserved and yet it definitely feels like people don’t like it when we’re top.
The neutrals will want City to win in order to keep the PL interesting but what happens if we win? Are the snide remarks going to ramp way up or what? The rivalries will hit over-drive. It was nice not having them for a while.
Aussie, I think we’ve a good chance of beating City, in fact I would have the match as 50 : 50. Maybe 55 : 45 in favour of City but we’ve every chance and this match is as close to being decisive as a mid-way game can be.

2nd January 2019 at 1:45 pm #30669Yeah Sean I was one who went over the top in 2014 & I’ve been very reluctant to predict we will succeed since. Last season we played some absolutely brilliant stuff & I loved watching us play. Mates of mine bagging me for watching football saying 0-0 results must be thrilling to watch but I could say not my team, they’re always scoring goals & conceding them as well.
Whilst we aren’t as scintillating this season we are proving to be very hard to beat & are showing signs of steel we haven’t had for a long time. I do think we’ve had some luck this season but as they say you need a bit to win anything. We are in a great position but I do genuinely believe c$ty have a better squad overall & a top manager to boot & with only half a season gone talk of winning it are way too premature. HH also said I’m way to negative so it isn’t just Threeps & I accept I’m a bit negative but to suggest I don’t like watching us play is just ludicrous.
Talking to a mate today who’s a gooner & he said he can’t see anyone beating us, reckons we have it all. I guess we are very well balanced & have match winners to go with it but I just can’t shake that nagging feeling we will slip up. This c$ty game is a big one but if we win or even draw it I won’t have any reason to doubt we can go all the way._____________________________

2nd January 2019 at 1:49 pm #30671Pax…you’re kidding…Liverpool aren’t your favourite team? I’d never have guessed ?? it’s funny though, Sean”s right. We Liverpool fans have been moaning for years that our team was too nice. The Arse and Manu teams of the early noughties took hounding the ref to a new level. Even now I think we are too nice. We have one or two players who like to roll around a little, but very few, if any, who will leave a foot in or get in the ref’s face. In many ways that’s not a bad thing, but intrigued to see you think different. Salah, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Trent and even VVD wouldn’t say boo to a goose. VVD is too cool to do it and for the others it’s just not in their nature. I really don’t think any stats would back you up, Pax

2nd January 2019 at 1:58 pm #30674Yeah Mak we certainly have the game to do it. How do you think we will approach the game, I think we will go with a more reserved midfield like Hendo, Gini & Milly or something like that trying to contain their midfield, as opposed to Keita or Shaq in there. I’m not sure what is the best approach though. Some have been saying they can be got it if your brave enough to have a go at them & I sort of agree. It’s a hard one because we can beat anyone going forward but c$ty (sorry gi, it’s habit now) are a different beast to anyone else & like us have the ability to cut you to shreds if you are too open. Bloody tough call for Klopp on this but my view is if you go down, go down swinging. Be a great game either way, could be a tactical bore fest for all we know but if you like your football & can see what the managers are trying to do it’ll be good to watch either way. Nervously looking forward to it.

2nd January 2019 at 2:06 pm #30677Oz, I didn’t imply you don’t enjoy watching Liverpool, think you’d find it difficult not to enjoy it, but I don’t understand why you feel so negative beforehand about what seems like every match. And I’m not talking about winning the title, which incidentally until recently I had City as clear favorites, but do you not get excited beforehand about just watching this LFC team play? Sure we may get beat, can happen anytime, but I enjoy the excitement I feel leading up to a match knowing how this team plays.
Klopp was right when he said they need to turn from doubters into believers.

2nd January 2019 at 2:06 pm #30678AnonymousOz :”Salah went down way too easy for me & those that make excuses for players doing it are part of the reason it continues to happen. Players that dive are embarrassing & destroying the game & these excuses like β any contact is a penaltyβ or βhe held his shirt so itβs a foulβ are kidding themselves.”
Bang on man. See all the Liverpool fans clapping Salah on the back for throwing himself on the ground when he was lightly pulled back? Now, sure the player shouldn’t do it as it does put you off balance, which is maybe the most important thing when you’re on the ball and trying to quickly navigate. Maybe Salah has had enough of refs letting it go? That is only one small aspect of it though that has anything going for it. It still doesn’t excuse it for me and it only highlights the fact that players are actually waiting for contact,. That is not the game that I want to watch.
There are many things in life that show us a little about ourselves, as we really are as people. One thing that is constantly highlighted is the fact that people don’t give a damn about right and wrong. People talk a big game but ultimately do not care as long as things are to their advantage. Look at Trump. Biggest crook to ever be President of USA. Apparently the number of his campaign associates indicated in in the 10s. I havent verified this but the guy is dodgy. He’s also a complete and total asshole. it doesn’t matter what he says or does though because his voters just wnat their guy in. It’s the same with these decisions. Would the lads who are delighted Salah dived be happy to see this go against us in an important match? The dive didnt give us anything. The other was a penalty from a defender who lost his mind. Arsenal were a shambles that day.
